hey ladies,

There are a few of us who are ttc after mc's, however there will be ladies out there who are also ttc for the first time or second or third without success. If anyone is on, considering or had success on a super ovulation programme then do join us. How long did it take ? Did you try IUI with it.. ? Did you have PCOS?

Kicking this off and hoping some of you will join....

Hi sue and welcome to the thread Smile
Yes, duggs I had the same thing on cycle 2 and then found out Sad. It's such a timing issue: am I pregnant and need to fill the progesterone prescription? Or am I not and have to fill the letrozole prescription?! I think it's 9 days after the injection that it goes away, right?
Mr S said as we're having good results on the eggs, we should just check DH's sperm too, previously not done as we've had two pregnancies. So the poor lamb has to do that next week after this weekend's prescribed SWI!

Did anyone think when they dreamily threw away the contraception and started trying for a baby that we'd end up like this?! It's funny if it's not depressing.

Hope you're all having a good Friday.

Forgot to say hello properly to jemima and yes, the travelling hopefully bus is a lovely place but rather knocked up for a newbie with fertility issues to join. Completely understand! I've been on there so long now, though, that I can't leave. They are lovely ladies.

That's interesting about testing sperm as I was thinking along similar line. If eggs r good sized and timing is right then sperm is obvious thing to check. I know follicle size doesn't guarantee quality but a check could indicate if IUI would help? Keep us posted!

Just adding my follie details.

Cycle 1:
Scanned on day 12 (which turned out to be too early and due to Xmas no rescan was possible so no trigger shot that month)
Right ovary had one dominant 12mm follicle
Left had a few small follicles from 8-12mm and a PCO appearance.

I ended up oving on day 20 so if you accept that they grow 1mm a day, that was probably a 20mm, but I will never know if I managed to produce more than one!

Hi ladies,

Hope you don't mind me joining your thread. Have never joined one before so new to all this and feeling a bit nervous!! I think some of you know Free from the ttc on pred thread and she emailed me the link to this thread.I am the old school friend she has mentioned who recently had a miscarriage after ivf and then she persuaded me to get tested with Mr S for nk killer cells. Turned out (as Free suspected) that they were indeed high so he has suggested we try super ov while taking metformin and pred for six months rather than going straight back to ivf.

Welcome, pebbles. I know free from another thread, but she told me about you. I'm sorry you've had such a journey so far. Isn't it interesting that mr s thinks super ovulation is the way to go rather than ivf right now? Very interesting. I think we are in good hands. Great to have you and looking forward to sharing what we can about this whole thing x

Thanks Jaffa, Was surprised to be honest but he thinks we don't necessarily need ivf as I don't have any tubal problems/ blockages etc. Maybe it has just been a combination the high killer cells and mild pcos that stopped me from getting pg naturally... It does feel strange not to be doing ivf as its the only way I have ever achieved a bfp, first one two years ago which turned out to be chemical and then the one in Sept last year which m/c just before 7wks. It worries me a bit that I could be wasting time doing this which feels like it is fast running out! I trust Mr S though and would be amazing if it happened by super ov as more natural. I am so sorry to see you had two m/c, such a devastating thing to go through. Did they find any reasons for them as I see you dont have high nk cells?

Welcome pebbles yes ive met free a couple of times. I'm also v interested in your story as I've mc 3 times but don't get pg so easily so I was about (literally) to start IVF last summer. Now I know about my nk cells and super ov programme meant he discovered mild PCOS then he is treating with merformin, and u am on pred after ov. I've done 2 natural and 2 super ov with dr s. First so round is more of a test to see how u respond. sue seemed to get a good response first time. I'm fascinated by super ov as I'd never heard of it before. Good luck ladies and I hope more join us for more info sharing. If no results next cycle on so I'm going to get. DH sperm checked out!

So sorry to hear about your miscarriages Duggs it's such an awful thing to go through, took me a while to feel like myself again an such a relief when you do.
So it sounds like you are in exactly the same situation as me, not sure what's worse the not being able to get pregnant or the mc!Confused. It's just once you have had a mc you have no idea when/if you can manage to get a bfp again, all v frustrating. How do you find the Metformin? Do you still have the occasional drink? I have been having couple of glasses of wine here and there but was out for a friend's Birthday last night (stoning hangover today, oh why did I drink so much) so I stopped taking it for a couple of days. I probably sound like a right alchi now!

pebbles has been a rollercoaster emotionally and physically. Hence the drinking being more than I should - ESP red wine ( never seems as bad ). I have often thought about what is worse - 2 yrs ttc and failing month after mth or 3 mc? If someone said I'd have to chose 1 I think I'd opt for latter - but both is just . . . Anyway these threads there is always someone

It is indeed a complete rollercoaster and i desperately hope that sooner rather than later we all get to the end result. Would be sooo lovely to not be ttc or going through a mc. I came off the pill and have been ttc on and off for around eight years, although the firstvyearvoff the pill my cycles went completely haywire!
When do you start your next cycle? I am due to start on my next one.

Pebbles I just said "hi" on the other thread but I can see there is a bit of your story here. We sound similar (although I cannot claim to have been trying for as long as 8 years!). I also seem to have mild PCOS (well, no two drs can agree on whether I have it or not and only one ovary at a time ever seems to be polycystic although which one it is varies, bizarrely!) and no other known problems so I am officially in the "unexplained infertility" camp and waiting for IVF. In the meantime I tested high for NK cells so I am on superov plus the pred for a few months.

Duggs what are you having done on Thursday if you don't mind me asking?
Eight years has been a very long time but strange as it might sound in some ways I feel more optimistic that it can happen after getting to around 7wks last time.
I have heard of doing ivf with CHG but don't really know anything about it to be honest.
Euro we do sound similar! I was originally diagnosed with poly cystic ovaries but not the full syndrome so never really worried about it. When I went to see Mr S. he was shaking his head in despair that I had been told that and said if you have cysts then you have the full syndrome! He put meon Metformin which I started last month so hopefully that will help things.

I'm having a hysteroscopy. Just investigative as st marys think I might have a septum uterus? Metformin builds up so hopefully a few months in we will start to see differences Smile

Nope, Duggs. Mr S was humming and hawing about whether it would be a good idea and I wasn't keen as I have IBS which is finally getting better after a decade of hell and I know someone who had terrible stomach problems on it.

pebbles Mr S declared my ovaries were multicycstic at my first appointment with him - not quite cysty enough to be polycystic but not quite normal either. Cutting down sugar (eating low GI) really helps. I haven't met free yet but we have emailed and we live quite close to one another. Are you nearby too?

Good luck with that Duggs and hope all is ok. Can I ask what a septum uterus is?
I am trying to cut down on sugar as well Euro but have a really sweet tooth, I don't add sugar to anything but not very good at going without my chocolate fix.

Are any of you finding you are getting rather spotty on the Letrozole? My cheeks are covered in spots, which is unheard of for me. I usually get the odd spot on my t-zone but I have never had spots on my cheeks. I am worried they will scar :(

Report
duggs1976 · 22/01/2012 10:15

A septum uterus is where uterus shows a divide can be tiny ( scarring from Erpc or larger). They usually like to remove in recurrent mc patients. St marys doing procedure tomorrow to check it out and remove if necessary or clear me. Dr s couldn't see it on scan but said as is nhs procedure doesn't hurt to get in there and check.
I love chocolate too a lot.
Letrozole and spots. Now u mention it yes. But they go once u stop!

Hi ladies, I read a report about the superov plan where there has been evidence that you should conceive by month 4 if there are no other underlying probs such as partners sperm count. Apparently many clinics will only do 3 rounds on it and then start doing more indepth tests. Not sure if this is true as we all know the amount of stuff on google that is incorrect. I will try and dig the link out and post it on here.

duggs1976 · 23/01/2012 07:34

Oh do sue as I'm wondering whether to try IUI with next round?
