hey ladies,

There are a few of us who are ttc after mc's, however there will be ladies out there who are also ttc for the first time or second or third without success. If anyone is on, considering or had success on a super ovulation programme then do join us. How long did it take ? Did you try IUI with it.. ? Did you have PCOS?

Kicking this off and hoping some of you will join....

pink i am on 25mgs, some are on 40mgs, I think Prof Q says to take it from BFP but its worth seeing what else she has to say

Havingkittens · 09/05/2012 19:14

I think 25mg is considered a relatively small dose. Considering how shoddy I feel on it, I'm dreading having to take 40mg if I do get a BFP.

I struggled with 25mgs, i couldn't cope with 40mgs, maybe I need to man up Hmm

I am 25mg too, but not sure if that is considered a high dose....in terms of the research you have read about steroids and infertility?

I think I am lucky not to have any side effects, or maybe I do but have been taking it so flipping long the side effetcs have morphed into what is generally me now :( Must say though I don't care about any side effects so long as get a baby at some point. Am starting to feel like it's not going to happen. Think should give SO 3-6 months and then reassess as it'll be 2 years trying by then.

That's interesting research on the pred Ari and think will have to add dhea to the list of supplements if there is room on the shelf!

Lots of interesting chat about the steroids I am only on my second time of taking them so can't add my h to thd chat at the mo.

Well had two good day three embryos put back today so now on the dreaded 2ww. They had to thaw all our 8 embryos in the end to get thd best ones so this is our last go on the nhs. I think if this doesn't work it's back to super ov and then if that doesnt work on to borrowing money for a final shot at ivf or following Duggs on the adoption route.

Hope all is ok with Jaffa it's been a while since she posted.

Have been lurking on pred thread for news of Snoopy, she sounded like her fighting spirit was back in the last post I saw.

Hello all!!
Fingers crossed for you pebbles We could do with some good news!!

Well I had my scan yesterday CD11. Blimey he doesnt mess about - in and out in 5 minutes! Basically it was too early, follicles only around 13-14mm and very thin lining. Considering my last cycle was 41 days I wasnt really surprised!! He asked me to see him next Tuesday for another scan Shock Didnt get home last night till 10.30pm. The thought of having to do all that travelling again in 3 days!! Anyway have managed to get a scan locally for Monday....phew!! So just rang and told his secretary, didnt realise they still charge you for looking at the results!! Anyway still cheaper than travelling down and having a scan there. Fingers crossed the follicles have grown!!

Thinking of snoopy

xx

Best of luck pebbles. Fingers crossed for you.

buster, it's a right pain having to go back for another scan. Both financially, and for you, geographically too. Good that you found somewhere to go locally. The first couple of cycles really are hit and miss timing wise, I've found.

I'm very crampy today. Feel like AF is looming. I fear it's going to be a heavy one too given how long my cycle has been this month on top of taking the progynova for almost a month instead of 20 days. Still, next cycle I have to take a break, have FSH tests and hysteroscopy so that I can get on with it again the following cycle. I have 2 large boxes containing my various injections taking up about a third of my fridge space, which we have to share with our lodger so I guess I'll be making very frequent supermarket visits until I get to use those!

Hey!!
Not great Sad, but thanks for asking!! Smile
My lining has got thicker, I think. 7mm
I have 13 follicles in each ovary however the biggest is 13mm, the others range from 10-5mm.
I have faxed the details on to Mr S but I dont think Ill hear back from him till tomorrow now. The consultant there said this could be an indicator of PCOS?
He also doesnt really agree with steroid treatment and said the lipids have shown more positive results. Confused
He thinks I would be considered for IVF as I am 'subfertile'. Basically can get pregnant but still havent got 'a take home baby'.
Its all so very confusing!!
Hows everyone?

It shouldn't be like that though, this journey is hard enough without the confusion. My GP is a big fan of Dr S and tells me to follow his advice, she also told me that at 39 I don't have time to waste and should have IVF Hmm thats not what she said to me 5 months ago

Report

Buster, that's confusing isn't it? 13mm at CD11 isn't too bad though is it? The first couple of months I was estimated to ovulate around CD16, which at the rate of 1-2 mm growth a day would sound pretty similar to your timings/follicle sizes. Also, when I had my scans slightly later in my cycle at around CD12-14 my lining was about 8mm and they were very pleased with that. I would imagine yours would be similar by that point, no? Are you taking progynova? That's what I've been prescribed to build my lining up. The quantity of follicles may be the concern, I guess and indicative of PCOS (erm, from a make up artist's point of view. lol.... What do I know about gynaecology? More than I ever thought, come to think of it!)

This cycle was very much a WTF? cycle for me. It lasted about 33 days and I ovulated on CD24 Hmm but no BFP for me again this month. Surprise Surprise! . Today I went for my FSH test so we will see what that tells us. Not TTC this cycle as I have my hysteroscopy on 30th and then will resume with the Gonal F that's lurking in my fridge during the next cycle.

I was walking past Topshop Maternity and Mamma's & Pappa's in town earlier and thinking to myself, there was a time that although I have yet to hold on to a pregnancy I would think "There's no point in buying any normal clothes as I'll be pregnant again soon." Back in the days when I used to get pregnant so easily. As Abba once said..... Now those days are gone!

Hey kittens I think we end up knowing more than the experts!!?
I was actually CD 15 yesterday, I had a scan Thursday too CD11 and if I remember rightly my follicles havent grown since Thursday!! Although my lining has got thicker, whoopee do! Hmm
No I'm not taking progynova? - is that progesterone?
Hope your FSH comes back with some positive results and good luck with the hysterscopy. I had one of those last year, its so weird seeing your womb on a massive screen!!
I feel I could do with some pregnancy clothes! I belly is huuuuge! I blame the pred! Wink

kittens I have thought exactly the same as you, about the clothes. Last spring I didn't buy myself any new spring/summer clothes as I thought, well I'll be needing maternity clothes soon, so what's the point? I get vouchers for being a First Aider at work and remember saving them thinking I'd be needing them for baby items. God how naive I was. I certainly don't think that way now, I can't see me ever needing maternity clothes or baby items again.

Definitely good luck with the FSH - but do bear in mind that there seems to be a link between steroids and buggered-up LH/FSH levels, so don't be too alarmed if it's higher than last time. Remember euro's experiences ... (it was euro, wasn't it??)

buster if lining is an issue, have you thought about the l-arginine/high-dose Vit E supplements? They certainly seem to have done the trick for me this month, and I think lisa also?

Report
Havingkittens · 15/05/2012 09:54

I would like to blame the pred but I've been to the gym once, for half an hour, in 5 months. And comfort eating.

Progynova is eostrogen supplements. Actually, it's HRT to be exact. Mr S put me on it after my Hycosy as it showed a thin lining and possible scarring (hence the hysteroscopy) and 2-3 day periods of little more than spotting.

Report
Buster76 · 15/05/2012 11:07

Ari can you get l-arginine from health food shop?
Dont think progynova would be any good for me as my eostrogen was really high one month.
Well just heard from L, going to up me to 5mg from 2.5mg. Not to inject this month but to keep an eye on ovulation symptoms and keep on dtd Wink
Another month bites the dust! Confused

Sorry to hear af arrived Kittens and what a pain having a wtf cycle for no apparent reason. Don't all these drugs just drive you mad!! Good luck with the tests and hysteroscopy.
I know where you are coming from re the clothes, every ivf cycle I have I think right stop buying clothes as you may get pregnant. This time I thought sod it and bought a couple of things to cheer myself up at the weekend!Smile

Sorry your scan didn't go well Buster although it seems your lining is fine. Has pcos ever been suggested to you before or was that a bit out the blue? I had all sorts of scans before being refered for ivf and was told I was fine and then when I had a scan for ivf they told me I had pcos. Doctors are very frustrating with the conflicting advice!

It was indeed Sue whose fsh came right down, and Ari my memory is also rubbish at the mo!

I have a week and one day to go until test and it is driving me mad, so hard to stay calm and relaxed particularly when taking pred! Had really bad munchies last night and found myself munching ice cream with crushed brazil nuts (for the selenium of course!) and this lovely biscuit paste stuff you can buy in France. I very rarely eat ice cream so guess it is the pred making me do it!!

Hi Duggs how are you doing at the mo? Sending a big virtual hug your way.
