hey ladies,

There are a few of us who are ttc after mc's, however there will be ladies out there who are also ttc for the first time or second or third without success. If anyone is on, considering or had success on a super ovulation programme then do join us. How long did it take ? Did you try IUI with it.. ? Did you have PCOS?

Kicking this off and hoping some of you will join....

Yes that is the link. duggs have you only had 2 goes of superov? Maybe you should get your Dhs sperm tested before iui?

Hello all, I have been lurking and gathering information, but was hoping that someone may be able to answer a couple of questions I have before I drive myself even crazier!

I have done 3 cycles of superOV but it's not working
1st cycle 5mg let - 1 x small follicle on Day 11
2nd cycle 7.5 let - 1 x small follicle on Day 14
3rd cycle 5mg let and injections - 1 x 14mm follicle on day 12
From reading your posts these are tiny follies compared to your on the same days. I know each person is different etc but I am worried there is other issues now that I am not aware of. On this cycle I did the trigger shot on day 14 as instructed but still no AF. I am def not PG (cleaned boots out of tests!) but I can't understand why my period hasn't started when I did the trigger shot 18 days ago!! Anyone got any ideas?

suemays · 23/01/2012 12:45

cinny are you with Dr S? What did they say to you about your follicle size? What is your normal cycle as its hard to compare to everyone else. I normally have cycles of around 24-26 days so my follicle size at the same day as you will be bigger due to my cycles being short. Maybe you ovulate naturally at a later date so the follies have not had time to grow at day 14???? I am guessing you should have the scan done later than day 14 to see the follicle size. That would explain why you have not got your AF yet if you ovulate later even though the trigger shot should have forced you to ovulate on day 16 this month. Are you testing with First response early response preg test as that is the most accurate in detecting early preg?

Good luck today Duggs I hope all goes well and let us know how you get on.
Sue thats really interesting about the super ov working within 3mths. I know Mr S says it works for 85% of people within 6mths but I think if it doesn't work within 3/4 I will probably go back to my ivf clinic (we still have frozen embryos) and try again with the pred and pray that does the trick!
Not sure who else is on Metformin but wondered if you are if you have given up booze completely? Not a complete alchi but I do like a glass or two of Wine on the weekends.

great news duggs

sue thank you. I think I o ovulate later. My cycles are usually very long, but I thought that the trigger forced the OV so I should be seeing an AF sooner. I am sure that Mr S knows what he is doing, but I think that I OV'd almost a week after the trigger shot in which case I missed the boat this month (and have for the last three months) following this super OV programme. I do use FR tests. Hey ho, will have to wait and start again this month and when I see Mr S, take a list of questions!

Hi, i'm a newbie to all of this so dont really know if i'm on the right thread or not. Me and my partner have been ttc after coming off Cerazette at the end of November. I had a period in december and started using OPKs in january. I had 3 positive OPKs about a week ago so we obviously got to work. Since then i've been having tummy aches and my breast are abit tender. I passed out in work on Sunday (after servere having stomach cramps) and was taken to hospital where they did all the usual tests, including a pregnancy test (urine sample) which came back negative. I dont understand why i'm having these pains and tenderness if i'm not pregnant. Could it be too early to detect a preganncy in the hospital? Is my mind on over drive?!

Any advice?

Hi sophie4 it might be a bit early to test yet. 14 days past ovulation is usually a safe bet. This thread is for women using fertility drugs to help them conceive. Bit sure you are doing that yet are you? You didn't mention it? Happy to have you here, but not sure if you are super ovulating so may not be the useful to you? Good luck with your pregnancy test - try first response from boots ?

Sorry girls was coming over just been bad few days and just got worse!

Can anyone give me some advice:

just mailed midwife at nlc. I asked her advice re taking the letrozole on day 2 for sup ov and about booking in for follcle scan next week and she said the recommendation is to take a month off as the chance of miscarriage is increased. I don't want to take a......... (spare you my language as just posted on the other board) month off!!!!!!!!! I haven't got a spare month!

so peed off.

Sue you didn't wait did you? What advice were you given?

Report
suemays · 24/01/2012 15:22

It might be as my hcg levels were lower than yours so my pregnancy never really took properly. Did you speak to Louise or someone else at nlc? I didn't need to wait a month.

Report
snoopygirl · 24/01/2012 15:33

I just sent Louise an email and she replied. My count was 8.1 last friday at NLC. What was yours? I didn't think you could get much lower and get a line!
May be better to give her a ring.

I think mine was 6.4 but anything over 5 is a pregnancy.

That's right. Still there doesnt' exactly seem alot of difference to me. Hope all going well with you. Thanks for the reply.

Report
suemays · 24/01/2012 21:25

There doesnt seem to be a big difference. How many days passed your AF due did you get to? I was 4 days passed my AF due when the levels started to drop. Maybe that is the reason why? Louise was sure that I would not have had any pregnancy tissue with the levels I had which is why I don't need to wait. I just hope that it means I am not more likely to miscarry if I do get pregnant this cycle.

If they are suggesting you should wait a cycle I would listen to them as there must be a good reason. As someone else said, its only another 4 weeks later if you do fall in Feb. Frustrating though!

Really peed off today as we were set to book a holiday in April for my birthday using DHs airmiles but BA have decided to charge us a fortune on taxes so we are not going now. Was looking forward to something for a change! Seems to be my bad luck as usual!

Does anyone know the success rate of the superov plan compared to TTC naturally?

Report
duggs1976 · 25/01/2012 06:12

I believe it depends on a few factors. 1-due to mid ov scans the timing is v accurate so no missing ovulation 2 - having more than one viable egg means chances can be doubled if there r 2 viable eggs for sperm to find. Makes sense. Just makes me more worried about the viability of my eggs when I don't get BFPs ! 3rd time lucky perhaps we will see.

I can't think of anyone snoopy.

I have to say I am not enjoying superov at all. I hate the side effects. I had acne for the first time in my life on the Letrozole this month (calming down now I have been off it a few days) and then horrible hot flushes and general feeling crapness after I stopped it. And I think my ovulation is going to be delayed again. I'm on day 11 with no signs that ov is coming. My ovary twinges usually start during my period. I've had nothing so far this cycle. That is very unusual.

After last month's late ov I said I would give it one more cycle and then see how I felt. At the moment I am thinking this will be the last one, although I will make a final verdict after my scan. My body just feels "wrong" at the moment and I don't like it.

I always react badly to anything that affects my hormones. I couldn't even take the Pill pre-ttc because of the side effects. Meh.

side effects dont sound good wonder how duggs & sue are getting on with it.
so what is the plan after the one more cycle?

Report
eurochick · 25/01/2012 11:26

I think I would like to just carry on with the Pred for a couple of cycles after that, and then I think we would be at the point of starting IVF (which I plan to do in conjunction with the Pred).
