duggs1976 · 17/01/2012 22:21

hey ladies,

There are a few of us who are ttc after mc's, however there will be ladies out there who are also ttc for the first time or second or third without success. If anyone is on, considering or had success on a super ovulation programme then do join us. How long did it take ? Did you try IUI with it.. ? Did you have PCOS?

Kicking this off and hoping some of you will join....

I'll ignore the above as 1. I can't even say my name today let alone fill in a survey 2. I hate surveys Grin!

Anyway, ari that's interesting. Lets hope there's some sort of frenetic build up in there and your hormones are beavering away getting ready for some thing exciting!
Keep an eye on things, you wouldn't want to miss anything.

Arianrhod · 30/04/2012 14:33

lol snoopy, or alternatively (if Mr S is right) my hormones are beavering away frenetically but my body's doing sweet FA in return! Grin Will find out more on Saturday, I guess.

Pebbles73 · 30/04/2012 17:59

Hey Ari glad to hear you haven't been suffering too much with side effects and haven't got the dreaded spots. Sorry cant help re the CBFM as not used it with super ov, as you say it's probably the letrezole confusing things.

Sorry you had a crap sleep Snoopy and hope tonight is a little better.

Great idea about the list Abney :)

Abney · 30/04/2012 19:08

Duggs pred 7 & SO 4
Pebbles pred 1 & SO 1
Snoopy pred 7 & SO 2 (not doing SO this month) Testing 2nd/3rd May
euro pred 5 & SO 3, now on IUI
Kittens Pred 10, not ovulating on SO3, waiting for FSH test & changing treatment next cycle (13 months overall on pred, but inc 2 month and 1 month break so far)
Abney SO2 - Waiting to test (from 07/5 Wed onwards). One large 24 mm follicle. Left ovary not considered to be functioning properly so I will increase drug taking next time if this time fails.
Suemays pred - 3 rounds then had a CP, 3 further SO then another CP in March (total of 6 months on preds). On 2 month wait.
Carebear1 SO 1
Arianrhod SO 1 waiting for first scan 5th May

Hi Arianrhod I have added you to the list. Good luck on first scan. The first one is quite exciting really. The 2nd scan you feel like you haven't done the 'deed' at the right time and I guess from then you just have to carry on smiling everytime you see Dr S as you don't really want to end up in his clinic again but you have no choice. It helps that he is very friendly.

lisacn · 30/04/2012 19:18

ari I use a cbfm as well as temping Confused last month I was on 40mgs of Tamoxifen and I got a high until CD11 and ovulated on CD13 which is early for me, this month I'm on 80 mgs and I got a high on CD9, I'm having my scan tomorrow which should be CD12. I can let you know if taking all those supplements have made a difference to my lining.

snoopygirl · 30/04/2012 21:28

Good Luck tommorow Lisa. Let us know how it goes.

Abney · 01/05/2012 07:01

Yes good luck lisa on your scan. Let us know how it went.

Arianrhod · 01/05/2012 16:12

lisa how did your scan go? Interesting you got a high on CD9, I'm stlil shocked at my CD6 high. Got to be the Letrozole, I think ... but oddly I've been getting definite ovary-type twinges yesterday and today. Not ovulation, obviously, it's way too early at CD7 today, but something is happening 'down there'. Wish I knew what!!

lisacn · 01/05/2012 20:53

snoopy abney and ari thanks you, I went for the scan and the good news is that I don't need the hysteroscopy Grin the scar didn't look to bad, Dr S said that Tamoxifen can help with scarring ???

Sadly the scan did show any follies Confused he said there were a few very small ones. Nothing on my left side again must be Greek and on strike He did say I could have ovulated really early Hmm i'm only CD12 and he suggested just dtd to cover all bases but it looks like a dud month. Although I had really bad pains on my left side this morning.
He did say that we now move onto the big guns so next time we will be trying Gonfal F. I'm going away next month so might have to give it a miss, unless AF turns up early

snoopy how did it go today ??

ari my lining was better so thank you for the info on the supplements :)

Waves to everyone else

Havingkittens · 02/05/2012 10:20

lisa, I think the first month can be a bit hit and miss with the SO but I hope you get a nice surpise. Good to hear your lining's improved. I am taking progynova for mine..

This is great! Last night before I went to bed I POAS (OPK). I was supposed to be keeping track of it but forgot yesterday so did it late. I woke up this morning to see a very bold double line on it so it looks like I'm having my surge now - CD23 of an average 26 day cycle. That's not really going to help me, is it? 48hr luteal phase! Still, I suppose it's better than not ovulating at all. Be interesting to see what my blood test says.

I'm really starting to become concerned with all the comments on the other thread about pred mucking up cycles and suspected prevention of BFPs. I really did used to get pregnant so easily before all of this and I'm too old to be an "experiment".

snoopy, are you testing today? Have you heard back from your breast test yet?

Arianrhod · 02/05/2012 10:40

lisa sorry to hear about the follies, but interesting that you're going onto gonal-f. Fingers crossed! And good to hear about the lining, I'm still waiting to see whether the l-arginine and Vit E have helped mine.

kittens I hear you about being too old to be an 'experiment'. I am quite sure the steroids buggered up my AFs/cycles/whatever, although I'm not completely discounting that age might have something to do with it to. But I'm quite determined I am not taking them again until/unless I get another BFP. Yes I'm sure my NKcells need cannons firing at them, but only if I get pregnant - and if the steroids are preventing that happening in the first place, then there's really no point in taking them! If your surge is happening now, on CD23, maybe you won't have a 26 day cycle this month? I did OV late one cycle after a miscarriage (actually was day 24 I think, and my cycles are usually 27-28 days) but went on to still have a 'normal' 13 day LP. Fingers crossed that that's what happens for you too!

Well something decidedly odd going on here. I mentioned I got High on my CBFM CD6, right, and got another on CD7 yesterday. I decided that was down to the vagaries of the CBFM and possibly the Letrozole affecting it, since I've read that it can mess around with estrogen levels. Equally I have had several days of Highs previously when the monitor was still relearning my cycle after a miscarriage, but always ovulated at the right time. So I thought I'd ignore the monitor reading for now. However, just out of curiosity I tested with a trusty CB digi OPK last night, and was shocked to see a smiley face! How can that be? I'm only on CD8 today, how can I have an LH surge already? I don't know whether that means I'm about to ovulate, the Letrozole has done something unexpected (Dr Google has said so far that Letrozole doesn't increase LH, which is the only thing that could account for it), or what? Just to add to my confusion I got what I swear felt exactly like ovulation pains all day yesterday, and twinges of the same this morning.

I know Letrozole can make you ovulate a little earlier in some women, but surely not 5 - 7 days early? Guess I'll find out when I go for my follie scan on Saturday - presumably IF I did ovulate very early, then there will be no follies to be seen on the scan?

I'm not liking all this weirdness :(

Buster76 · 02/05/2012 11:11

Morning all!!
Well I'm day 3 of Letrozole 2.5mg!
Had horrible AF pain in the night, felt like my uterus was been twisted!!
I am very hungry - is that the letrozole? or am I just a fat pig?! I think it is most likely the latter!!! Havent noticed any other side effects as yet. Got a scan booked in for next Thursday 11th. Will only be day 11 though, worried it might be a bit early seen as though my last cycle lasted 41 days!!
It is all very confusing Ari Sad
It will all be such a relief when we are ALL pregnant and not having to worry about scans, medication, dtd on prescription! Its all such a head f**k!! Excuse the language!

xxxx

CareBear1 · 02/05/2012 11:34

Hmm, interesting to read your stories about what the drugs are doing to your cycles. Ari that does sound early, do your cycles change a bit normally or are you very regular?

Am now cd 8 so finished the letrozole. Has anyone else felt a kind of grating or aching feeling in their bones? felt a bit teary too, though that could just be work! I helpfully forgot to POAS for CBFM this morning, but temps are stable so probably still too early for me. Have got scan at the ed of the week. I have a feeling i may be same as lisa and require big guns to get any follies, during the ivf it took quite a lot of extra drugs to get the eggs to grow.

Havingkittens · 02/05/2012 11:41

I've just spoken to Louise and she's told me I could still be in with a chance and that I may end up getting my period later so I should "make love" over the next few days.

In other news, I've just had a text from UCH saying I have an appointment with the Hysteroscopy clinic next week. Bloody hell, that was quick! Frustratingly, I've just spend the last hour trying to speak to someone who can tell me if it's an initial consultation or procedure and if it's the former, how long before the procedure happens. I need to know whether to take my Gonal F next week or not! So frustrating trying to get any sense out of anyone!

Louise reckons it's well worth taking a month out of the SO treatment, if necessary, to have a hysteroscopy but I don't want to not take the treatment if the procedure doesn't end up being for another month or so after the initial consultation, but by the same token I don't want to take £100 odd worth of treatment only to end up having to refrain from SWI.

Bloody UCH! That's the second text I've had from them in a week with appointment reminders that I've not had letters for. Completely taken me by surprise. Good job I'm self employed. They've both been very short notice.

ari, have you just emailed Louise by any chance? When I was on the phone to her she asked me what an OPK was after I'd told her I'd got a positive surge on my OPK. She said "I'm just answering an email from someone saying her monitor was buggering her about and she's referring to OPKs. I know that's 'forum speak' but I'm not on the forums so don't know what she means".

Arianrhod · 02/05/2012 12:05

Yep, that was me kittens ... ah, whoops, it didn't occur to me that OPK wasn't a widely-known abbreviation! I'll mail her back :)

And yes care, I'm usually more regular than a very regular thing. Which makes it all the more weird!

kittens It's excellent that you can have your hysteroscopy quickly, I hope it's for the actual procedure and not just a consultation!

Arianrhod · 02/05/2012 12:10

Btw kittens Louise advised that I should have "sexual intercourse" tonight, just in case my OPK was somehow correct. Way ahead of her, DTD last night and intending to tonight as well, just in case!! Can't believe for a minute that I can ovulate 8 days into a cycle, but I'm not chancing it!

Just out of interest, does anyone know what the benefit of the Ovitrelle trigger is for those who are ovulating normally? Is it simply so that you can make sure the dominant follies are released at an apposite time, rather than leaving it up to Nature to decide when they get released?

buster I haven't found any real side effects on 5mg Letrozole, but I know it's different for everyone. Hopefully they should abate for you really quickly!

Havingkittens · 02/05/2012 12:56

ari I'm guessing the Ovitrelle is to ensure exact timing so you don't miss the egg.

I can't tell what side effects I've had from the Letrozole. I think it may have made me more tired than usual. I was quite ravenous too actually. As far as spots, well, I'm pretty spotty anyway. No night sweats.

I've just had a call from the hospital. Looks like I'm having the actual hysteroscopy on Weds (provided, of course, that I don't miraculously get pregnant in the next few days!).

Arianrhod · 02/05/2012 13:36

Well that's good news kittens, makes a nice change to hear of someone not having to wait months for a straightforward procedure! Question though ... if your OPK is right (no reason to think it's not) and you're about to ovulate, say you DO get pregnant in the next couple of days ... how will they know if you have, before they do the hysteroscopy?

Havingkittens · 02/05/2012 13:59

Well, my period is due on Saturday, or thereabouts. If it hasn't arrived by Tuesday I will call and postpone my hystersoscopy, I guess, and wait to see what transpires!

The lady who referred me was a real sweetheart and was determined to get me in as soon as she could "after all I'd been through".

Arianrhod · 02/05/2012 14:00

Bless her, it's so nice to hear there still is good service out there somewhere!!

lisacn · 02/05/2012 19:20

kittens this is my 2nd SO last time it was 40mgs of Tamoxifen and 1 follie at 22mm on CD12 this time 80mgs Tamoxifen and nothing on CD12, not sure if I have had a temp rise will temp tomorrow to see. I hope you get some answers from UCH.

care I have felt teary on the drugs

ari I used to ovulate around CD15-18 but now its around CD12 since the steroids. If I have ovulated the it would have been on CD11, This cycle I have been using the cheap internet OPK's and have had a faint line since CD9 Confused best to dtd and cover all bases :)

I've had ov pain on the left side again so I can only assume its my body playing cruel and nasty tricks on me, as if it hasn't made me suffer enough

snoopy hope you are ok, big hugs

suemays · 02/05/2012 21:15

Kittens I am going in for my hysteroscopy tomorrow and was told to make sure I am not pregnant. Surely if you are OVing now, you will be on the 2ww when you have the hysteroscopy and so your period is not due on Saturday? Speak to Louise as she told me not to SWI before my appointment just in case.

Lisa Dr S told me I didnt have any scarring but he said that I may as well have the hysteroscopy as it was free and it might give us a reason why I am miscarrying. A friend of a friend was having recurrent miscarriages and it was only at a hysteroscopy that showed up old pregnancy tissue that was still attached and causing miscarriages - she has 2 kids now. A scan might not pick something like that up so thats why I thought I would go for it to cross it off the list. It can apparently make you more fertile after having one too. I got my GP to refer me at the end of March so it didnt take long. St Marys also advised me to have one after having all their tests didnt reveal much.

Snoopy how did your appointment go?

News for me is that DH is away until Monday so I will prob miss OV this month - typical seeing as I have been on my 2 month ban, this will make it 3 months!

I found that the letrozole shortened my cycles to around 21 days which I am told is too short for an egg to mature properly. I OVd on day 10 on one of the cycles. Damn drugs - wish we didnt have to take them!

I hope I havent put everyone off the steroids with my FSH news as I am still sure that they do help prevent miscarriage so I think we need to listen to Mr S and keep taking them.

snoopygirl · 02/05/2012 21:24

I don't know how to start. Appointment couldn't have been worse.

I had thin needle biopsy, mammogram, Ultrasound. Back to consultant hour or so later. I have got Breast Cancer in left breast where pain was. In three different places. I am reeeling, devastated, terrified and just feel surreal. It's taking all my might to post this. Then another tissue biopsy. I have another biopsy friday as they couldn't get to another bit. My breast is so truamatised with brusing we had to leave it there for the day. Main sample already sent off for testing so don't know what grade it is yet or how aggresive.
Waiting for nurse to call me with appointment with Oncologist. I also need to have MRI to see if spread anywhere else. I am so scared. All I can think of is my Son/DH. I must keep normal as possible for DS.
My family are in shock too. I didn't think I would come out of there Tues with this diagnosis. I am glad it was quick but and wouldn't have wanted to wait a week to see if any cancerous cells but the speed of this diagnosis has floored me. Better this way I know.
The consultant said it's either mastectomy/chemo or drugs (trial)to shrink the cancer. I won't know if I have this choice until i see oncologist which hopefully will within week. All I can hope is that it's not spread anywhere else.

There have been massive leaps forward in the treatment even in last 2 yrs so just have to see what's what first. Just hope it's localised and I've got a chance.

Guess DS is going to be a only child but I just want to be healthy for him. That's all I want.

I'm gonna miss you lot so much. Thanks for everything and I wish massive luck to you all. Don't give up, If I can't you mustn't.
x

lisacn · 02/05/2012 21:46

snoopy i'm in shock I really am so sorry, big hugs have pm you x

sue I would have to pay for mine £1300 and although I have heard that it can make you fertile they seem to say that about alot of things Hmm, I don't particularly want to have anymore procedures if I can help it, he thought that the scarring was the cause for the lining not being that great but he and his colleague had a look and decided it wasn't needed, so I might leave it for a later option

lisacn · 02/05/2012 21:51

snoopy there was a programme on TV the other week about the Royal Marsden and the treatment on offer, they were trying a new drug for shrinking the cancer that was mainly for skin cancer but I think they were trying it on other types. Let us know how things are developing, again super big hugs x
