Hi everyone!

Just wondering if anyone is trying for baby number 2?

I've been 'sort of' trying for two months, but this month am really determined! I think i'm supposed to ovulate this wednesday, so BD'd today, yesterday... etc!!

I have a 15 month old DD....

Hello lady, yes, we're trying for number 2. Tbh I've been hoping it will happen since about July .... so now is the time to get serious! No excuses!

DD is 14 months and I'm (whisper) 36. Dammit, it was so easy with DD, I didn't expect to have to actually TRY for the next one!

Chunkychicken · 09/01/2012 21:46

Hi lady & Huppo, we're TTC #2 too. Only just started and already anxious! My DD is 20 months & suppose half expected it to happen, like, NOW so the age gap was what we wanted, but we'll see... Especially as we didn't really try for her.

I didn't feel ready for #2 until DD was nearly a year anyway, & certainly didn't expect to be so broody for the last few months. We decided to let a few things run their course before actually DTD etc.

I don't really monitor my cycle TBH. Have an app that tracks AF for me, using the data to get an average cycle length & so on, & you can use it to roughly predict ov but I don't know enough to say I ov day 14 or anything... I figure we'll see how it goes for a couple of months before 'getting serious' as you said Huppo!!

I've just started tycoon for number 2. DS is 2 and alth

PeppaTwig · 10/01/2012 08:07

Oops damn iPhone!
Was going to say... I didn't want a long gap between DCs but through compromise with DH we reckon 3 years ish will be right for us. On first cycle of trying this time around so keeping fingers crossed!

theladyintheyellowhat · 10/01/2012 14:20

Well... I wish us all luck!! My DD is behaving like the perfect angel today... its a sign I'm ready to have another!! :)

My dh gave us the go-ahead last night!!! The plan was always to discuss ttc in the new year...so it only took me 11 days to wear him down persuade him of the merits of having another dc so soon :) DD is 13mo which I know would make for a perfectly acceptable age gap but dh still sees her as his little baby and has seemed reluctant to take the plunge again so far.

BUT last night he said he 'supposes' we could give it a go! Hurrah!

I took my pill this morning by accident though! Ha ha!

yankiedoodledandy · 11/01/2012 20:52

Coil coming out on Monday! DS is 2 in a few weeks. It took us a while (18 months) to conceive him but tbh i was trying to kid myself that we were 'just seeing what happened' rather than actively trying! My cycles are really long (35 days ish) and irregular so Im sure I'm not going to find it easy to work out when I'm ovulating. I'd just say 'see what happens' again but 36th bday is rapidly approaching so feel i can't be too laid back!!! We'd like DS to be just 3 ideally but didn't start TTC earlier as I thought itd be just my luck to get pregnant straightaway. I'm sure this decision will come back to haunt me...

yankiedoodledandy · 11/01/2012 20:58

Sorry don't mean it'd be just my luck, that comes across a bit insensitive for anyone struggling. Just meant I was worried about what if it happened straightaway, don't think I'd cope with a newborn now at the demanding toddler stage DS is at. {prays for angelic tendencies to develop magically in next 12 months} Grin

Booboostoo · 11/01/2012 21:13

Kind of...DD is only 7 months old but I am 38 so we need to get a move on! Realistically though we are not really getting any time to try very hard as we have our hands full with DD!

ConfusedMumDotCom · 11/01/2012 23:00

We've just started trying for number 2. Dd (17 months old) happened so easily that my DH is fairly relaxed about it, but as I'm fast approaching 37, I just want to get on with it. having conceived dd first time I now have very unrealistic expectations, which though I'm trying to keep in check, I know I'll be devestated if I'm not pg by the end of the month. In fact, I think I'm more anxious about getting pg this time round.

JumpingFrog · 11/01/2012 23:36

We're just starting to try for number 2, DD is 20 months... Trying not to over think about it, but once you set your mind to it, it's hard not to..!

ellesabe · 12/01/2012 08:07

Confused mum - I'm the same! We conceived in the first month of ttc with dd1 but we were dtd every day...I'm not sure I have the energy for that any more these days!

chaya5738 · 12/01/2012 12:34

We just started trying too!

I had coil out mid-December, got AF straightaway, and am pretty sure I ovulated two weeks later.

I have been feeling pregnancy (sore boobs, nausea, etc) but think that could be adjusting to not having coil in or I am just imagining it (crazy woman...).

AF is due, if my cycle is back straight away, in a couple of days.

Anyone else imagined pregnancy symptoms because at the moment I feel like I am going mad...

ConfusedMumDotCom · 12/01/2012 18:31

You're not the only one going mad. I'm convinced my work stress headache is a symptom, as I suffered terribly from them in the early days of my first pg. But it is very unlikely, as I still have 13 days until AF!!

(not sure I'll maintain my sanity until then! goes to lie down in darkened room)

Littlepurpleprincess · 12/01/2012 21:40

We are trying for number two!

We have a 5 year old DS but he was a suprise so we've never done the whole 'TTC' thing before.

I came off the pill at the end of november and got my first period on the 1st January.

Any tips would be greatly recieved because I'm a bit clueless (other than the very obvious thing I need to do...)

madaboutmadmen · 12/01/2012 21:43

yeah we're trying for number two as well, have been since last June and had 2 mc's since then. hopefully third time lucky!

JumpingFrog · 12/01/2012 21:51

My cycle had been pretty regular till this month when I was 10 days late.. That drove me mad..anyway new month, new opportunity! Anyone got some tactics in place? I'm stocked up with OPKs and conception vitamins!!

Lyftiduft · 12/01/2012 22:52

We're about to. DS is just over a year. Thought I was pg this month (would have been accidental but I got quite het up about symptom spotting- think I might have been briefly), AF arrived Monday though. We're both a bit disappointed so have brought forward the plans to try for no. 2! Grin

LittleDonkin · 14/01/2012 17:23

The DH and I have just decided today to start ttc bambino number 2!!! My DD is 15 months and I hope this time it happens as quickly as last time. I came off the pill the end of Jully DH went to Afghanistan early September came home on R&R in the January and hey presto I had bun in the oven! Quite exciting but also dauanting wondering what it will be like having 2 or possibly 3 as twins are on both sides of my family and have skipped a generation on both sides!!!!

yellowflowers · 14/01/2012 20:37

Me too. Dd nearly 13 months and took 2.5 yrs ttc. Periods not back yet tho but would like to get pg this year ideally

Bewler · 16/01/2012 14:27

Hello, I haven't been on MN since I was TTC my first DC and she is now nearly 17 months! We always said we would TTC DC2 in 2012 and its come around so quickly. We "took away the goalie" (as my DH would say) at the start of the year and I just got AF after a poxy 21 days...boo! Sulked a bit about it at the weekend until DH pointed out it was seriously optimistic to hope to get preggers in the first month. I still secretly hoped that I would be one of this incredibly lucky people.... is anyone else finding it hard to pretend to be casual about the whole TTC thing but actually being really excited and trying not to obsess about which day of the month it is? I'm not very good at just seeing what happens (yes, yes Mum I know I am a control freak!). I have two good friends who are also TTC#2 and I know its wrong but I feel its a bit like a race so I am keeping schtum about it except on here.....anyway, trying to take a chill pill and wishing everyone luck!

JumpingFrog · 16/01/2012 22:07

Hi Bewler
Yes I'm finding it very hard not to obsess about it. It doesn't help that loads of people keep asking me when I'm going to have another baby, and I really don't want to say we're TTC..
Just got to keep ourselves occupied with other things and not stress too much.Good luck for this month! X

Bewler · 17/01/2012 09:37

Sometimes I really cringe at the things I said before I had my DD.....not meant unkindly but totally thoughtless like asking my married friends if they were thinking about getting pregnant and if friends that had kids wanted any more. Someone told me the other day that we'd better get on with it if we wanted the optimal 2 year gap (when did that become what we were all supposed to be aiming for?) and I felt seriously cross. Sigh....hindsight is a funny thing! Good luck to you too jumpingfrog. DD woke a ridiculous 3 times last night so I am feeling less broody this morning....Smile

TheresAHuppoInMyHouse · 18/01/2012 15:55

After 6 months of TTC I am now worrying that worrying about it will mean it doesn't happen! Is there no end to the TTC-neuroses to take over my waking thoughts?

Being relaxed is important

But mopping up DD's sickness bug does get in the way of shagging, dunnit?!

PinkCustard · 18/01/2012 16:10

Hi, Yellowflowers do you mind me asking if you just finally got pregnant last time or if you did anything different? I got preg with DS the 1st month, but DC2 is proving elusive. It's been 2 long years of TTC now, with an early miscarriage in November but nothing else. Trying to remain hopeful but the early excitement has definitely more than worn off now.

Hope I haven't brought this cheery thread down but a positive story from someone else who took a while to succeed is just what I need at the mo.
