Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

Congrats on the HB far hope the scan goes well, are you finding out the sex? I think my bean is boy too pie but no reason for it (although have been looking at the nib theory) Confused a good friend of mine was told girl all the way through on basis of HB, it was a boy Hmm x

AmandinePoulain · 15/03/2012 18:29

Scan went well and my hunch was right - its a girl Smile

jaylee89 · 15/03/2012 20:49

congratulations amandine. my little bean is causing me alot of sickness at the moment but im not worrying as ive been told sickness is a good sign. i just hope this one sticks around."prays to god".

hope everyone has had a lovely day xxx

Loup23 · 15/03/2012 22:14

Yay amandine congratulations! Is your DD excited about a new sister?! Grin

PieMistress · 16/03/2012 08:23

How exciting amandine a girl!!! Grin Grin

I bought a book yesterday to read to DS about the new baby which felt very wierd because sometimes I still find it hard to believe I'll have a take home baby at the end of June!

far whoop for feeling hungover IYSWIM! I had to keep crackers and boiled sweets (cola cubes) in my desk to help with the nausea. Probably explains why I put on so much weight in 1st Tri (and errrr still am now!

loup haven't heard of the nub theory either ?! Are you going to find out for sure or keep it a surprise?

jaylee my GP also said sickness was a good sign!

It's Friday at last what a relief! Roll on the weekend :)

AmandinePoulain · 16/03/2012 08:25

Well my little girl didn't appear to have a nub at 13 weeks...at the time I wondered if it was because it had already formed into girls bits, I guess a boys would probably 'hang around' (Grin) a bit longer!

blackcatsdancing · 16/03/2012 09:11

i'm in the 2ww but hoping to join here soon (better to be hopeful) ...

re early scans after MC. In my area the EPU will not scan recurrent miscarriers, i was shocked to find that out. Those are the official rules, whether they can be persuaded by a GP/ midwife is another matter, though as there is always a 2 day wait for everyone it is very doubtful. They will scan: women who have had a previous ectopic, women who have bleeding and/or pain, women who have continuous bleeding after an ERPC/ medical management. I'd say it varies from area to area. I swore i'd not have another private scan after last time (seeing HB at 7 weeks, then finding out at 12 weeks baby had died at 8 weeks). Now i'm not sure i could hold out and if problems happen down the line having had a scan will give them useful info. Sadly the cheapest private scans round here are £99!!!

kirrinIsland · 16/03/2012 10:48

Congratulations amandine - it'll be nice to have another girl :)

blackcat I had an 8 week scan and then went onto to have a scan with no heartbeat at 12 weeks too :( I think though, that I would still rather the have the 8 week scan this time, but I will just a bit more realistic about how reassuring it actually is? I think otherwise I will spend the whole 12 weeks as a nervous wreck with no respite at all probably will anyway I might see if I can get an extra scan in at 10 weeks as well, privately if needs be - I think they're about £100 round here too. Its a lot but I think it's worth it, and I've already started saving!
Hoping to see you here soon :)

Moominsummermadness · 16/03/2012 13:16

Lovely news, Amandine My picture of my 12 week scan is really hard to decipher, while the picture is fantastically clear, and you can see the nub, little one is fairly curled up, so it's difficult to tell the angle! We aren't going to find out the sex anyway, although I would be very shocked if turns out to be a boy after 3 girls!

farfallarocks · 16/03/2012 14:08

Very pleased for you amandine, great news!

kirin that must be very hard for you, its very unusual to see a heartbeat at 8 and then not at 12, you poor thing.
Better luck this time!

kirrinIsland · 16/03/2012 17:40

Thanks far

I went to the doctor today to fill my form in notifying pregnancy, so I'm now "official" and feeling very nervous about it. I feel like I've tempted fate and now my knicker checking knows no bounds :( am I weird? ( you can lie!)

jaylee89 · 17/03/2012 10:12

kirrin i am 6 weeks today a week closer to that wonderful 12 weeks lol! no my dear you are not weird lol i constantly knicker check almost to the fact where im losing all sanity lol! when i do knicker check i say to myself this is the last time also after i have been a piddle i take about 5 mins trying to convince myself to look at the tissue after wiping. i think i have taken it to extremes now lol!

good luck sweetie xxxx

wellieboots · 19/03/2012 01:10

No laughing at you here kirrin! Had a good scan on Saturday but already terrified by every twinge and every feeling of "wetness".

Chunkychicken · 19/03/2012 10:58

Still regularly knicker checking here too!!! Only 5wks today though, so got a long way to go.

Chunkychicken · 19/03/2012 11:22

My work laptop playing silly buggers has forced me to do it - I phoned the GP & have an appointment for Friday to make it all official!!

I'm sure they're going to make my due date a day later than I think it is, because I have an average of 29days in my cycle for the last couple but know I ovulated on/after cd15 as I got my +ve OPK on that day iyswim. The NHS calculator only uses the cycle length rather than the ov date.Hmm I know it isn't important but I don't know whether they still count your weeks as from your LMP so that would make me 5wks today, or from your EDD so 5wks tomorrow.

jaylee89 · 19/03/2012 12:11

they do it from the first day of your last AF sweet.

so they will go by 5 wks today.....congratulations xxx

Moominsummermadness · 19/03/2012 13:09

Great news, wellie. How far long are you now? I'm still scared about every twinge and wetness at 13+4. Think I will be like this all the way through!

farfallarocks · 19/03/2012 13:24

Great news wellie

I seem to have a lot of clear or white discharge and run to the loo every time I feel it thinking please let it be white, gah!!!

kirrinIsland · 19/03/2012 21:33

That's great news wellie

My morning sickness is starting I think, either that or it's related to this awful cold I've got! I'm hoping it's morning sickness anyway. When I feel bad I wish for it to ease off a bit, and then when it does I start worrying - I can't win!

wellieboots · 20/03/2012 02:52

Thanks for the good wishes! I'm only 7+6 today but the good news was that scan dates and my dates exactly matched up and the hb was absolutely fine. My first obstetrician appointment is at 10 wks, and she will do a scan there, early one was because of the early bleeding plus my nerves due to previous mc.

Wonder if I will ever get calm?!

Glad everyone else still going well too

kirrinIsland · 26/03/2012 11:39

Where is everybody?!

I just had a good scan with a lovely heartbeat, 7+2 which sounds about right. I was offered another scan in 3 weeks just for reassurance too, which was a bonus!

Moominsummermadness · 27/03/2012 18:26

That's lovely news, kirrin. It's so reassuring to see that little fluttering heartbeat. It's good that you can have another scan at 10 weeks too.

It has gone very quiet on here indeed!

SianNic · 02/04/2012 12:45

Hello, I would like to join the freaking out pls?! I had a m/c at 5.5 in Jan and fell preg straight away so not sure on dates but think about 6 wks at mo. had some brown discharge on sat night & sun am but feeling sick so obviously got symptoms but panicking none the less about the bleeding :-( got s docs appt in 2 weeks so am trying to sit tight and keep fingers crossed...arrggghhh!!!

kirrinIsland · 02/04/2012 16:54

Welcome sian congratulations :)
It good that you're feeling sick, and mean that in the nicest way possible :) try and focus on that if you can. You should be able to get an early scan too, if you're not sure on dates, which should help reassure you a little.

I've got my booking in appointment tomorrow, and a private scan on Saturday (9weeks) which I am very nervous about.
