Freak Out Room For Those Newly Diffed Up After MC Part IX

LAF77 · 27/09/2011 08:52

Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

Long time no post eh?!

Pie - we really are close in our dates, I am due on the 12th of July. We have not really looked at names yet, other than a brief conversation when we discussed 2 that we both like but will start looking again soon. DD keeps suggesting names as she has announced it on BBM and started a name the baby game with all her friends! Most of them are boys that they all fancy ie from boy bands!!

Welcome Farfalla and congratulations on your BFP.

Congratulations Wellie

Well done on the scan Loup, past the 12 week milestone :)

Great news Lime, third trimester already I so cannot wait for that - 4 weeks to go!

Added myself to the list

My date is a wee bit out, have updated it :) We have a boys name (although there is a cockney rhyming slang association according to google but we live in Scotland so hoping it's not an issue!). Girls names on the other hand we are totally at a loss with as our no.1 name from 1st time around doesn't go with DS's!

Moominsummermadness · 07/03/2012 13:31

Sorry for messing up your date, Pie, they are probably all wrong (except for my own), lol, so anybody feel free to amend!

Well, have made it to 12 weeks, massive mentalling going on about my scan next Monday, and also about the letter that came home from DCs school saying that there is an outbreak of slapped cheek syndrome. Am trying not to worry about it too much, but easier said than done!

AmandinePoulain · 08/03/2012 12:49

moomin I would contact your mw and ask to be tested for previous exposure to slapped cheek if you do come into contact with it. I did when I was pregnant with dd, I spent 5 days mentalling about the results but it turned out I was immune having already had it. Have you had your booking in bloods? If not they can always add it in. Don't google though, you'll frighten yourself, usually the baby is unaffected in the rare chance you did get it but if you did you would be offered regular scans to check fetal blood flow, and worse case scenario the baby may need blood transfusions, as far as I know it doesn't cause congenital abnormalities, so not as bad as many viruses.

Waves to everyone else, I'm looking forward to and mentalling over my next scan and mw Doppler appointment a week today

Moominsummermadness · 09/03/2012 13:19

Thanks Amandine, I'm going to mention it to the midwife when I go for my scan on Monday. Hopefully I will have already had it without knowing. I have already had my booking-in bloods, but I will ask if I can have an immunity test anyway.

Hello to everyone else, hope you're all ok.

jaylee89 · 09/03/2012 17:48

hi girlies have had alot of fun reading all your posts and my gosh there is alot lol.

i had a mc last yr which totally crushed my world.

found out i was pregnant on monday after a yr of ttc.

i have to be completely honest im totally shitting myself (like literally)
every little pain and wooosh im off to the toilet to check im not spotting!
im driving myself completely insane i just want to fast forward by like 4 months!

am i currently a mental person or is this normal???

Moominsummermadness · 10/03/2012 12:37

Welcome to the thread Jaylee. This is a good place to be for some mentalling. Whilst you might feel like you're going crazy, at least on here everyone is in the same boat! How many weeks pregnant are you?

Hope everyone's having a nice weekend, I'm at work doing overtime today, mentalling so much about the scan, I'm trying to keep very busy this weekend (not that I'm not busy at home with 3 DC to look after). Glad that the tiredness has subsided enough to do a six-day week, although am still feeling a bit nauseous.

jaylee89 · 10/03/2012 19:31

im still very very early im 5 weeks today! it seems to be like yrs and yrs away till im out of the danger zone i just hope and pray everything goes well not only for me but everyone else in my boat xxxxxxx

Loup23 · 10/03/2012 19:38

Hi jaylee welcome and good luck, it took me 9 months following my mc to get a bfp and I've now made it to 15 weeks! Still crapping it everyday though Grin

Blimey moomin 3 dcs must be tiring whilst pg! When is your scan? Hope it's soon.

Is far still with us? And wellie? Hope so.

Waves to amandine and pie too!

Quiet night in for me and can't wait Wink

PieMistress · 10/03/2012 20:02

I'm knackered and i've only been looking after DS today (DP on stag weekend!). He's been especially wilful and i'm wondering if this is the start of the terrible twos (he's 2.3m)! Pizza in the oven for me though and nearly time for Take Me Out - that kind of low maintenance evening ahead that I need :)

loup i'm also crapping it every day! I don't think that will ever change!

welcome jaylee please come and get your worries and fears off your chest here - we're all going through it !

moomin how old are your DCs? I thought DS might have slapped cheek when I went to get him early from nursery on Friday (they phoned as he had high temp and red ear and red cheek). He'd had one bright red cheek for a couple of days but it seems to have gone now? Good luck with your scan on Monday!!

I've decided to postpone my 40th this year as it's only a month after bubs is due so will be having a big bash next summer to celebrate the end of my 40th year instead (and so I can pretend i'm still in my 30s) :)

wellieboots · 10/03/2012 23:10

Yep, still here but mentalling like crazy, little bit of pink discharge last night so resting today. Had HCG bloods during the week which were all good, first scan booked for Sat, which will be 7+3 if I make it. Hadn't had any bleeding for a week or so and was starting to get optimistic, now terrified and back to square 1.

Can't believe it, TTC for 13 cycles since my MC, and just desperately hoping this one is hanging on.....

Welcome jaylee and hope far is ok, I think she mentioned a holiday though, so that might be the reason she's not around..

Moominsummermadness · 11/03/2012 08:27

Hope everyone had a nice, quiet, relaxing night last night! I was so knackered after work, had an evening of being plonked in front of the TV (pie, that bloke who ended up with Stephanie on Take Me Out looked gutted!). Had to be up at 6.30 this morning to take DH to work, am going to visit my friend who is due her baby any day a bit later. We got pregnant within 3 weeks of each other last year, I found it a bit hard dealing with her pregnancy when I had the MC, but never let on to her that I felt like that. It's her first baby, and has been very excited, and she has every right to feel like that.

My DCs are 10, 8 and 5. I had the first two with my ex-husband, and my youngest with DH. While having four might seem a lot, the older two are at their dad's 3 nights per week, plus the odd holiday, so youngest DD often feels a bit lonely, so we decided to even things out a bit! DH works part time, and opposite hours to me, so one of us is always around and we don't have to rely on childcare.

Loup, my scan is tomorrow, as 9.40am. Am very, very scared. Thanks pie. It does sound as though your DS could have had slapped cheek, although on the NHS website, it does say that the temperature comes first, and then the rash appears, usually on both cheeks, and then spreads into a lacy rash after a few days. Have his 2nd molars come through yet? If not, could there be a possiblity that he's teething? They come through at about his age.

Glad to see you're still here, wellie. It is scary seeing any kind of pink/brown discharge, but remember, it is very common, and many women have it and go on to have healthy babies.

I hope far is ok too, and just not back from holiday yet!

Chunkychicken · 11/03/2012 16:04

Hi all. Hope I can trouble you for some advice. I apologise that I've skipped to the end - I will go back & 'catch-up'...

My story is relatively short, but I'd like to apologise in advance; I haven't suffered anywhere as much as anyone else on here has & I feel quite pathetic for stressing this way but would love to get some support from those 'in the know'.

Last month I had a chem pg. I was only 4+1 so wouldn't have been much out of the ordinary for me to be late, except I tested early & it was MUCH heavier than normal AF. Since then, I had a OPK peak on cd'15' (i.e. counting from first day of mc rather than AF) so knew I ovulated. I stupidly did a test yesterday (cd26) and it was BFP. I didn't really expect that and was only doing it to rule out pg as a cause of nausea dizziness etc - I honestly thought I might have a virus!!!

Anyway, the long and the short of it is, I am swinging between excitement & gut-wrenching uncertainty/fear that it will happen again.

How did you guys manage to keep it together and stay sane? I've already planned to keep POAS and have an early scan, but suspect this way madness lies...

I feel pretty stupid over this for the fact I have a wonderful 22mo DD, so have been through 1 calm, healthy & sane pg!!!

TIA Thanks and good luck to those approaching their due dates :)

Chunkychicken · 11/03/2012 16:05

p.s. for some reason, my fone has edited out the paragraphs. Sorry!!!

farfallarocks · 12/03/2012 08:27

Hi gals, back from the most wonderful holiday which really helped with the lack of mentalling. Poor DH was forced to analyses loo paper though 'er yes, farfalla, that is just pee, no, there is no hint of brown' Blush

Scan on Weds I will be 6 weeks exactly so not expecting to see a heartbeat (Although will be thrilled if I do) but they need to check its not ectopic as I am on clexane and that can be pretty catastrophic apparently.

moomin thinking of you this morning.

wellie i would definitely go for a scan, you should be able to see a heartbeat by now which will be very reassuring!

welcome to chunky, the answer is we don't really but we are all here to support you. I had serial HCG levels tested which was very reassuring for me as like you, I lost them very early, I had brown spotting at the beginning too but the HCG was rising and although that does not mean I am in the clear by any means, it helped reassure me!

jaylee totally normal I knicker check about 2x per hour and prod boobs constantly.

Waves to amandine loup and everyone else :)

Loup23 · 12/03/2012 09:40

Good luck this morning moomin , let us know how it all goes!

Welcome back far glad you had a nice holiday and ar enearly at the 6 week mark, rol on Wednesday!

Welcome chunky, sorry to hear about your chem preg but yay for another BFP. I did a test two days early and got a BFP and then spent all of CHristmas mentalling about a mc, feel free to come on here and rant your worries, just take one step at a time and Fx this one is sticky for you Grin.

Waves to others - I am "working" from home am sure surfing mumsnet is not in job description today as have a MW appointment this afternoon, hoping she will listen for the heartbeat (am 15+2), seems such a long gap between 12-20 week scan so have booked a private one for next week Blush See chunky still mentalling....!

Chunkychicken · 12/03/2012 10:31

Thanks ladies. Feeling a bit better today - realised I actually tested on cd27 so not hugely different, but a little less early!! Just have to get through today & tomorrow and then I'm officially 'late'. Also, symptoms are increasing/staying strong so all the time I feel sick/dizzy, I'm pleased!! Bit messed up but hey, it helps me Blush

far I think I must have 2 pg that didn't implant in the last 10mths, on top of the chem pg last month, as I had spotting prior to AF arriving in full force a bit late. As I hadn't tested, I just assumed it was my hormones messing me about, but I guess it may have been something more. No way to tell. Glad things are 'sticking' for you so far.

Loup can totally empathise - with my first, it didn't even dawn on me that it was a big gap, but now, 2wks seems like FOREVER!!!

Moominsummermadness · 12/03/2012 13:32

Welcome, Chunky, a loss is still a loss, no matter how early, so please don't feel that your chemical pregnancy didn't count as much as some later m/cs!

Scan was wonderful, have a very lively baby in there. Was dated at 12+4, so back a day. NT was 1.4mm, so I'm happy with that, just hope bloods come back ok. I spoke to the midwife about the slapped cheek outbreak, and I had a blood test for immunity, so was glad that I mentioned it.

Far, glad you're back too, and had a lovely holiday.

Loup, hope you get to hear the heartbeat this afternoon.

Hello to everyone else! Will update stats when I'm home later.

farfallarocks · 12/03/2012 13:38
