Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

Hello ladies, I recognise a lot of your names from various boards and pleased to see how many of your pregnancies are going well.

Can I join you? I am freaking out totally and want to be knocked out for the next few weeks?

Background is TTC #1 since Jan 2011 and have had 2 chem pregnancies since then, one in June at 5 weeks and September at 4+5.

Am pregnant again and not sure if I can face this whole thing again. Since then I have had tests and on cyclogest and heparin. So far so good, lines are getting strong on the tests but last night and this morning I had brown cm and have mild cramps too. I know it could be nothing but this is always how it has started for me. Its so early, 4+ something so there is nothing I can do but just sit and wait and hope its implantation. Wibble wibble, can someone knock me out with a mallet please?

wellieboots · 27/02/2012 11:23

Hi farfalla I recognise your name from some mc threads, so pleased for you and hope that everything works out this time

It is 15 months since I mc'd (blighted ovum) at 12 week scan. TTC#1 since April 2010 and just got my second BFP a couple of hours ago, s* scared and looking to hide out somewhere safe - this was supposed to be CD5 but AF, or what I thought was AF, was very weird and stopped and started and eventually went away and I thought I would test...in total shock and denial and will come back later when feeling a bit more sensible....

Loup23 · 27/02/2012 14:25

Still haven't caught up on thread but wanted to say congratulations to far and wellie - far i think we were on the cbfm thread together? I seem to recall you had some mid-cycle spotting (like me) could it just be that you're more prone to spotting (the midwife said some people are...). Fingers crossed this is it for both of you x

farfallarocks · 27/02/2012 14:38

hi loup yes we were, how are you? How all is progressing well with you?

I always had spotting pre AF you are right, am hoping that is the case here. Wibble wibble!!!

hello Wellie hoping all goes well for you too :)

Loup23 · 27/02/2012 14:45

Hi far so pleased for your BFP, I'm guessing you cant get an early scan until 6/7 weeks? Hope the cm is just a bean getting comfy Smile

I've made it to 13+2 and had a scan at 12+2 showing a wriggly bean so Fx it will be ok from here, still freaking out every day though.....

Keep us posted x

farfallarocks · 27/02/2012 16:17

Wonderful!!! Does the freaking get a little better??

No scan until 6 weeks but FX I will get there, never got that far before!

Just had HCG count done and its 239 which is good for just 4 weeks apparently, big test is whether it goes up in 48 hours. Wibble wibble.

I really wish I could be a normal pregnant person who is innocent and naive.

PieMistress · 27/02/2012 16:56

That sounds very promising far! I know what you mean about the innocence. With DS I didn't give miscarriage much thought (sounds terrible now I know) but now, having been through it all I still check every tissue paper wipe after i've been to the loo and analyse every twinge/cramp!

I am keeping everything crossed for you that this beans sticks like a very sticky thing :)

Great news loup on making it past the 12w scan!!!

Congrats on BFP wellie please come and wibble away in here with the rest of us!!

I had an appt with the MW today @ 22+2. Am measuring spot on (although feel like tummy is huge!) with good heartbeat. Baby was kicking away when she was trying to have a listen. Blood pressure is still lower than they like to see (but better than being too high I guess??). Next appt not till 28w for more bloods incl the gestational diabetes. I've put on so much weight this time around, mwahhhh but it's all for a good cause :) :)

Moominsummermadness · 27/02/2012 19:48

Welcome and congrats Far and Wellie. Tis the best place to be for freaking out and being able to voice your fears to people who will actually understand and offer some much-needed hand holding! Far, your HCG result sound good for 4 weeks, mine at 4w+2d was 178.

Well done on 12w scan, loup, and for getting to the 2nd trimester!

Glad your appointment went well, pie, they say that it's normal to have lower than normal blood pressure in pregnancy, and as you say, much better than it being high!

I wish the next couple of weeks would hurry up til I have my 12 week scan. Hopefully the nausea will start to subside soonish too, I had to be sick by a lamp post on the way to work this morning Blush. Thank God nobody was around, they might have thought I was an early morning drunk!

farfallarocks · 28/02/2012 09:27

Hi moomin thanks for the welcome, when is your scan?

Can I have another wibble? Had a good evening, no discharge, no cramps and boobs sore again.

I have my next HCG tomorrow and was feeling positive and this morning I have a bit of brown discharge, its not spotting and not dark, just murky when I wipe and sort of mixed in with creamy discharge (sorry TMI). I have no cramps but obviously this is making me freak. Consultant has doubled my progesterone dose but does anyone know, can heparin cause you to spot?

I know this could be totally normal and amndine your story gives me hope but I am having another wobble. Argh. Not sure how I am going to get through weeks of this!

Loup23 · 28/02/2012 10:46

far I hope someone will come along and offer advice soon, sorry I'm not sure but just wanted to wish you luck for the next 48 hours and onwards. My hcg during m/c was something like 172 at 6 weeks so yours seems good. Fx.

Congratulations on 22 weeks pie i'm hoping that once you feel the baby kicking about it offers a bit of reassusrance...? Having had a 12 week scan I'm now freaking out about the next 8 weeks - have to confess on that basis I have booked another private scan for 16+2...... Blush

moomin when is the 12 week scan? Hope you start to feel better soon, I supose the MS is reassuring but still a pain in the arse! I started feeling better at 11-12 weeks ish.

Waves to all others and hopes you all enjoy the supposedly balmy temperatures we're supposed to have today...!

AmandinePoulain · 28/02/2012 11:16

Hello

Welcome far and wellie. far I was taking aspirin (not on any specific advise, just based on my research and reassurance from a fertility consultant that it wouldn't do any harm) but I stopped after my 6w scan that showed a haematoma. I'm not sure if it was connected but it's certainly possible that your spotting may be down to the same thing. I'm now 13+1 and there's no sign of it so i know it's easier said than done but if you aren't losing fresh blood try not to panic. Ive also had lots of cramping and backache on and off, I'm putting that down to stretching.

Welcome to the second trimester loup Grin! I'm finally feeling less sick, I need to make sure I eat regularly and night shifts are still horrible but I'm crossing everything that I'm over the worst - with dd I was still puking regularly at this stage!

Hi pie Smile. I've got a quick question for you if that's ok? I was doing a search yesterday and found an old post of yours about car seats in campers. The second stage seat we had for dd will be 5 years old by the time this baby needs it so we'll need a new one - what one did you go for in the end? Will it fit on the back seat? We've got a 1998 T4 so no airbags and 3 point belts in the back but the seat looks really narrow. How do you manage? Sorry for the thread hijack!

Waves to moomin, hope you're feeling a bit less sick!Envy

AmandinePoulain · 28/02/2012 11:17

That Envy was an accident, I must have hit the button by accident although I suppose it fits with all the sick talk! BlushGrin

PieMistress · 28/02/2012 12:17

Hi amandine we got a Kiddy Guardian Pro in the end as it will do DS up until age 12. We've got 2 x 3-point belts in the back and could easily fit two of these in there (when DC arrives safe and well and is old enough to need one).

www.kiddy.de/en/childrens-car-seats/9months-12years/kiddy-guardian-pro.html

There is a newer model out:

www.kiddy.de/en/childrens-car-seats.html

We dithered for ages and ages and took the van to a few car fitting places. The Maxi Cosi Priory was also a good fit but I preferred this seat as it's got a body guard rather than a seat belt IYSWIM. We bought it online as there were no stockists nearby to us (after email correspondence to the manufacturer assuring us it would fit). DS is very happy in it. It's a similar design to the Mamas and Papas Pallas :

www.mamasandpapas.com/product-cybex-pallas-2-in-1-fix-black/2222c8500/type-i/

We couldn't get a rear facing Group 1+ car seat for the back of the van as there is nothing in front for it to either tether to or rest upon (have got Britax Two Way Elite in back of our car which should see DS through until age 4/5 - you could put this in the front of the camper though but after much deliberation we decided against it).

Hijack over :) :) Not sure if that helps any!!

loup I am feeling this baby move so much more than with DS which has been great. We will deffo go for another scan about 30w I think!

It's nice to see this thread getting busy again! X :)

AmandinePoulain · 28/02/2012 12:58

Thanks pie. The Britax TWE was one we had considered, to be used in the front seat but that m&p one looks interesting - it would give us the ability to be ff but the lo would still be protected from the forces of a frontal collision. I'm worried about travel sickness and not being able to use our in car DVD player on long journeys with a rear facer so that may be the solution to our problems! Thanks again! Smile

And reading back I've realised that I'm already losing track of the weeks - I'm 14+1 not 13! Blush

farfallarocks · 28/02/2012 13:54

Thanks loup and amandine, how did you cope with these early days? I am alternately dreading going to the bathroom and going every 5 mins to check what is going on. Gah! Tomorrow seems like an eternity and really don;t know how I will cope with bad news.

AmandinePoulain · 28/02/2012 14:14

I don't know how I coped! I just took it one day at a time really. I had a scan at 6w after spotting at 5, that week was long but I was in France for it at the ILs so I was distracted - I think distraction is the key really. Good luck for tomorrow x

Loup23 · 28/02/2012 15:21

I agree, distraction was the key. I found out at Christmas so it was a busy time luckily! I still freak out every time I feel a pain or when I rush to the loo and expect to see blood but find cm (tmi, sorry)!

Amadine wow 14+1! So you must have jumped to an August due date? Congratulations, hope you're feeling better after the 12w scan. I'm 13+3 today and counting days for a scan at 16+2, seems a lifetime away.....

Oh one more thing, where is the grads thread? Thought i'd have a read and see if i'm brave enough to join!

Loup23 · 28/02/2012 15:22

Oh, good luck for tomorrow far will be thinking of you and logging on to see how you get on Wink

farfallarocks · 28/02/2012 15:34

thank you, very helpful, ok distraction, will get off the internet and DO SOME WORK :)

PieMistress · 28/02/2012 16:24

Do we have any stats for this thread? Is the grads thread for those who have actually popped?

AmandinePoulain · 28/02/2012 17:49

The grads thread is in pregnancy. It seems as though people pop over there after the 20 week scan. I lurk as I recognise so many of them Grin

Moominsummermadness · 28/02/2012 17:52

Evening Ladies.

Far and Loup, my 12 week scan is on 12th March. Will be 11 weeks tomorrow. Lol at the Envy, amandine, but the actual emoticon looks like my face most of the time at the moment!

Far, hope the hcg result tomorrow is good. It is easy to freak about any spotting/brownish discharge, but I've found it out that it is surprisingly common. This time, I had about 5 days of bleeding, but was 4 days before AF was due, then up to 7 1/2 weeks, brown discharge on and off, never heavy, but enough for a pantyliner. The hospital thought I might have an ectopic for 3 weeks, kept having BHCG tests, with good results, but scans showed nothing until 6 weeks,6 days. Even then, baby measured so small they put me at 6 weeks. Then last week I had a little bit more brown discharge, went for a scan, and I saw lovely baby with arms and legs, and back to my original date. They said that the bleeding was caused by a small haematoma, but it was nothing to worry about. I'm not obviously not out of the woods yet, but the point I'm trying to make is that brown discharge isn't always terrible news, despite the fear it brings. A good friend of mine is on her 5th baby (!), and she has had it with 4 of her pregnancies. I have been taking each day one at a time, particularly during those early weeks I had of absolute uncertainty. Infact, until I saw the heartbeat on a scan, I didn't even really acknowledge that I was pregnant, except by not drinking and avoiding caffeine!

Loup, I think that the grads thread is over on the pregnancy forums. Pie, the grads thread is for people who feel confident with their pregnancies, from what I can see, some join after the 12 week scan, most after the 20 w one, but it's entirely a personal choice, I hope I get that far this time! We did have stats ages ago- it's nice to see where everyone is, and also quite reassuring to see the weeks ticking by! I know previously it also showed those who have progressed to the grads thread. I'll have a look, see if I can work out how to update it, so everyone say if they would like to be on it please!

farfallarocks · 28/02/2012 18:11

moomin that is very reassuring thank you. Did you see nothing at all until 6 weeks 6 days? You must have been terrified! Out of interest, do you have a tilted uterus? I have read that that sometimes makes it quite difficult to see the baby on the scans at the early stages. Great news on your scan last week though and best of luck for the 12th!

Moominsummermadness · 28/02/2012 18:18

I'll try to start a fresh with the stats- the last ones on here are really out of date. amandine, loup and pie, I'll put you on as your dates are on here, far and wellie, either add yourselves if you'd like to, same goes for anyone who hasn't posted for a while!
