Freak Out Room For Those Newly Diffed Up After MC Part IX

LAF77 · 27/09/2011 08:52

Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

hooray kat lovely news! So are you going back to get the nuchal measurement or are you leaving it?

I asked my GP about the doppler and he said he does have one, but didn't think it would 'help' at this stage. I took this to mean it was probably too early for him to find the hb and it would probably end up freaking me out. So that's me having to sit on my hands till my scan next Tuesday then.

shellshock7 · 03/10/2011 13:10

Crossed posts kat and biscuits...I have to say the wait from 12 - 20 has been really long! It has passed slower than the wait to 12 and I never thought anything would top that! I'm hoping that if we get a positive scan at 20 weeks it will fly by then as we will start shopping for baby and of course xmas is to come!

Biscuitsandtea · 03/10/2011 13:12

I'm right on the stats I think (although I did a double take to make sure I was really nearly 15 weeks!)

kat2504 · 03/10/2011 13:21

She did get a measurement for the NT in the end so I'm leaving it at that. i'm not that bothered about all the screening tests really. It would take a massively high risk for me to consider the cvs or amnio. I just wanted to see that there was still a baby in there and it was still alive.

stitchinline · 03/10/2011 13:36

Kat excellent scan news, I got a similar comment on mine from the sonographer - cheeky cow indeed

I?m right on the stats btw

shellshock will update you tomorrow on what I think, it does seem to have helped but will know better after 2 nights I think. I too have a very achey bump most of the time now

I?ve just told people as and when I see or speak to them ? no big announcements and def nothing on facebook etc,

shellshock7 · 03/10/2011 13:41

ok, I'll just update myself then Smile

I also only told people as and when, nothing on FB! Work was/is weird I mostly asked my friends to tell people so I didn't have to, after having to tell people about the MMC it just felt too strange?

Re: telling people, I've got people messaging me on fb saying they've only just found out I'm pg which I'm pretty impressed with Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 03/10/2011 15:44

How are you doing Velvet? not long to go now?

I'm impressed at the idea of people just finding out - I think I will strive for that!

Just looking at where you are on the list brought it all back for me - I had DS at 36+6.....

Velvetcu · 03/10/2011 16:13

Don't say that biscuits dh is in Japan for work til next Monday and I only have the dog as a back up birthing partner!

digitalgirl · 03/10/2011 16:34

I had DS at 36+5!

Velvetcu · 03/10/2011 16:46

Haha despite the thread title I didn't actually come in here wanting to be freaked out! Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 03/10/2011 16:46

Ah you'll be fine velvet - I'm sure you'll be able to keep your legs crossed until then :)

Just in case, it might be worth talking through your birthing plan with the dog? Do you think you could teach him/her to say 'epidural'?

Moominsummermadness · 03/10/2011 17:14

Thanks Biscuits and Lady, DD went to bed at 5pm yesterday, and didn't wake up until 6.30 this morning, so I didn't call out of hours gp in the end, thought I'd leave her sleeping and reassess this morning. She leapt of out bed and demanded breakfast, and has seemed fine ever since. I called school, as they advise to keep them off for 48 hours after sickness, and the receptionist said I was the 3rd parent to have called about the same thing this morning (by 8.30) and loads of children were off with it last week. Keeping an eye on other DDs, and hoping nobody else gets it! Would be typical if i got ill on Friday as it's scan day and I wouldn't be able to go!!

Great news on your 12 week scan, Kat. I'm trying not to think about my impending one too much, it'll drive me even crazier than I already am!

LadyMaybe · 04/10/2011 09:56

Kat, Oh fab fab fab, so pleased that the scan was fine, even if there was the little note from sonographer.

Velvetcu · 04/10/2011 10:17

moomin glad DD is feeling better and I'm really hoping you dont catch it too!

anyone fancy wandering over to grads yet? Babies are popping out all over the place and our list is gradually shrinking. We do still freak out occasionally over there so you don't have to give it up completely :)

BlueCrane · 04/10/2011 11:02

Morning all...just been pointed in this direction from another thread...might I come and join you? I had an MMC in May and now 6 weeks pregnant again! I've been trying to stay positive etc etc but today just feel v emotional about everything and keep stressing that symptoms keep coming and going and last time it all went wrong at 5-6 weeks (although we didn't find out until the 12w scan ) which isn't helping me stay calm! I have my booking app in two weeks and an early scan when I'll be 8+2 so need to hang in there til then as my first target!

kat2504 · 04/10/2011 11:07

Hello bluecrane congrats and thanks for the cookies!
If it help I have had no morning sickness at all so far (12+5) and my boobs have not been sore much either.
The wait for a scan seem like an eternity, but keep ticking off those days and you will be there before you know it!

KnitterNotTwitter · 04/10/2011 11:15

Hello... some of you may remember me... not least because I was in the 'thinking of' section of the stats following my termination on medical grounds earlier this year...

Well the interesting news is that I'm back...and 6+6 weeks pg - whoop, whoop.

We had a scan at St Georges this morning to check it wasn't ectopic and all is good so far... we even saw a little heartbeat...

Thought I'd be bold and join the stats list and everything :)

Thanks kat I've been fairly chilled - just think it's the fluctuating symptoms which is making me freak a bit tbh. Had such a go at poor DH this morning and he was only trying to help! I'd even woken him up to iron a top for me to wear to work as everything I did have ironed was too tight due to the bloating and I was too tired to want to go near the iron!! Think I need to start a daily tick chat to get through the next two weeks!! Hmm think the nauseous feeling might be returning, might've been a bit hasty with my tea, toast and biscuits at 10:30...

kat2504 · 04/10/2011 11:18

Knitter!!!!!!! OMG!!! I am so so pleased to see you back on here! You have been on every pg thread I have been on so far. The good news is that this time it has worked out for me so hopefully this will be a lucky one for you too.

Congratulations on your scan. I have absolutely everything possible crossed for you. You totally deserve it to be good this time.

Welcome bluecrane the fluctuating symptom thing can be such a mindf*ck, especially if you've had a mmc. At least you're having early scans this time. Good luck with staying sane for the next couple of weeks!

ladym ding ding week 10 - welcome to double figures!

Glad to heard DD made a speedy recovery moomin.

stitchinline · 04/10/2011 14:48

knitter so lovely to see you here and very happy that the scan was a good one today :o Have everything crossed for you.

bluecrane another newbie, excellent news on your bfp

Well done on joining the stats list too

moomin glad your DD is feeling better and hope you?re not mentalling too much before friday

shellshock still undecided about the pillow here, don?t think it was the wonder fix I hoped it would be for me, makes it damned difficult to turn over and also i got a really bad pain in my hip possibly from being in the same position too long. Think I was better sleeping with just a regular pillow? Will persevere as it was lots of £s but a teensy bit disappointed as don?t think it suits me, maybe when I get bigger it might work better.

I?ve taken the plunge and joined the grads ? all part of the positive attitude I?m trying to go with so will update the stats....again :o

Just popping over to say big congrats to knitter-wishing you a very uneventful time here! Also congrats to bluecrane. I think I might recognise you from one of the dec forums that I nervously lurked on for a while and decided to stay put here. Sorry you have to be here at all, but hope it all goes swimmingly for you and I know you'll get lots of support here.
