Summerbird73 · 02/09/2011 23:27

blue here have a Wine i know how it is when you are so emotionally close to your grandparents. Forget about the PMA and just have a big old me me me moment and a little blub on me..... [hugs]

Missgiraffe1 · 03/09/2011 10:18

Zebra HcG doesn't need to drop to 0 before ovulation, but it does need to drop to a low level, but what that is, I don't know. Sorry, I'm no expert either. They consider 5 and below to be non-pg, but I've read stories of women who've obviously ovulated - as the got pg - before HcG dropped to that level.

Blue sorry to hear your grandparents aren't doing too well. It doesn't matter how old they are, it doesn't feel any easier trying to get your head around the fact that their time here may be coming to an end. I can empathise. My Gran, who is 90, fell down the stairs on Thursday night, has broken her hip and wrist Sad and ripped all the flesh off one of her shins (sounds really grim). At her age, and with her other health problems, we are not sure she'll ever leave the hospital now Sad. and Summer I know you were really close to your Grandpa and miss him loads. I am raising my Brew in honour of all the lovely grandparents we miss, or wish well.

(have just made myself cry)

I am knackered today, nephew is full of the cold, so can't breathe out of his nose. Was up almost every hour during the night. Suppose it's good practice Wink I broke all the rules and took him into bed with me for Auntie giraffe cuddles Smile . Doesn't seem to be too bothered though, he is now running about my sitting room shouting beagle and poodle - his 2 new words. so cute Grin

PieMistress · 03/09/2011 19:58

Quick Hi! Am back from a great hols but unfortunately the EVIL WITCH got me on the first day :( so am back on the SWI this cycle! Congrats missg!!!! So happy for you!!

Will be back later once i've managed to catch up with all i've missed! There wasn't even a phone signal in the cottage we were staying in! I felt very cut off (but did find out a close friend is now 6 weeks pg after having a m/c about a month before I did, am so happy for her).

My GP also called and said my progesterone results showed I didn't ovulate last cycle but FF shows I did with a clear temp rise so not sure what's going on. Am now in the queue for the 'clinic' though but not sure how long I'll have to wait!

Anyway! Big HI to all, time for pizza and x-factor then hopefully a MN catch up! xx

ShimmeryPixie · 03/09/2011 20:04

Hi Guys

I am definitely up for having a June baby . Marathon's statistic that most people who have an MC will have a baby/be pg within 2 years has helped boost my attitude. Eventually one will stick and stay stuck. It will happen.

You have all been very busy it seems. Hello to pebspop and welcome to the mosh pit. Sorry that things have been stressful for you Marathon and hope things are more settled soon - I know that my DH is a bit at a loss regarding MCs (he compensates by making nice food and buying me flowers, but he doesn't do visible emotion - to the extent that on the few times I have seen him cry, it has scared the life out of me).

Blue, sorry to hear about your grandparents. It's awful when you know it's almost time.

Baby - you walked 8.5 miles in one go? I can do about 6, but 8.5 is a pretty hefty venture.

I am currently on vacation from work (1-5 September). As you know, this was originally perfectly timed for SWI, but things changed Angry. However, I am enjoying myself nonetheless, and am baking biscuits (honey oatcakes anyon^) and cooking dinners like a pro. I have also planted a whole load of tulips and daffodils for next year. DH is amused at my gardening - he's now calling the back a "goth garden" as it is full of deep purple/red or simply poisonous (e.g. monkshood) plants...

Summerbird73 · 03/09/2011 20:24

oo shimmery you can come and do my garden no seriously i looove deep purple and reds, DH is a keen gardener and our garden is lovely but full of bright colours goddamit!

welcome back pie sorry AF got you, it looks like we are all synched again! we will be holding hands in the 2WW in a few days time Confused

missg thank you for your thoughts, yep no one will ever match up to my DGrandad and i have definitely decided that a middle name for a boy or girl will be Cassidy - just need to convince DH now, he is sold on the girls name but i may need some extra persuasion to use it for a boy.

I went to a party this afternoon, it was a birthday party/welcome to the world for the birthday girls newborn sister. I held the 2week old for a while and felt a little choked but generally it geared me into action to get cracking with this mission Grin she was adorable though.....

I meant to say - on Thursday night DS said 'i love you' for the first time and then said 'cuddle' it was soooo amazing i was a wreck! Smile hopefully it was the first of many Hmm

cheers everyone Wine i have opened a bottle of sauvignon blanc if anyone fancies joining me - with a sparkling shloer for marathon iq and missg [hic]

pebspop · 04/09/2011 08:43

i bought my new car yesterday! it's definately too small for a baby, pram etc so fingers crossed sods law works!!

i love my car it's soooo cute!! can't wait until i pick it up later in the week.

i am carrying on with my temping. i got a bit excited yesterday as it went up a lot but it's back down to the normal temp today. think i did it a bit later yesterday so maybe thats why it was unusual for me. anyone else taking temperatures? i am using fertility friend to chart. hoping it will help me to see why af hasn't started yet and whether i will ovulate or not.

BlueCrane · 04/09/2011 09:53

Morning all...thanks so much for all your lovely thoughts re. my Grandparents. I spoke to them yesterday as it was Grandma's 95th birthday and they didn't sound too bad...but so difficult to tell over the phone! It will be their 73rd wedding anniversary next weekend! Hmm hat could well have just 'outed' me as there can't be many people who have relations married that long...oh well! Anyway, DH and I made up on Friday night - think we were both just over tired, AF carried on spotting yesterday (CD11!!!) but we did manage to get the SWI started so feeling Smile about that!! Now nearly packed for hols so will do a quick round up before we go!

missg so sorry to hear about your Gran, hope she recovers well and that she does make it out of the hospital!! definite raise of Brew and Wine to fabulous Grandparents!! Grin

pie sorry to hear about AF... yeah for your friend, that's great news! Hope you get some answers from the clinic soon!

shimmery loving the June squad hoodies Go with the PMA too...enjoy your break!

summer your moment with DS is definitely something to cling to in the midst of all of this!! Hope you enjoyed your Wine there's a few of us who will be moshing together in a week or so!!

peb v Envy of your new car as I want one of those!!! Really love them!! Enjoy!!

Must go and finish the packing...will try and do a quick check later before we go but just in case Have a great week everyone...hope there's lots of SWI, metalling and hanging in there before scans etc! Don't chatter too much or I'll never be able to catch up when I get back!! Take care all...

Missgiraffe1 · 04/09/2011 10:02

Morning everyone!

Pie Welcome back, hope you had a lovely holiday. What about that girl from Fife last night (had to laugh when she said the place was a 'dive')? Personally, I think the judges were OTT (does make good TV of course), I thought she was fab, but not quite to the extent the judges did! With a wee bit of vocal training though, she could be amazing. I don't know anything about charting, so can't really say anything helpful. Maybe the next months blood tests will be better news FX.

Baby any cousin baby news yet? And how did it go babysittng your niece? My nephew is getting WILD, but hilarious with it.

Cheers for the prawn advice IQ and Marathon. King prawn satay here I come! Yuuuuummm..... Marathon not long now until your scan. How are you feeling?
And IQ you? Is your sis back this weekend looking after you? (wish I had a sis like her! I just 1 bro, with ! crazy little boy, who both create mess in ways I never thought possible!)

Summer I did have a shloer last night actually, cheers. Hope you enjoyed your Wine . And Smile at your DS's declaration of love. They are just sooo cute. What age is he again?

Shimmery sounds like you're having a productive time off? My garden needs some colour, so feel free to also pop round to mine and brighten it up! It currently has half-built decking and over-grown grass Blush , my BFs DH is building the decking so I can't really get onto him to HURRY UP (as much as I would like to Smile )

Pebs happy new car! Hope it works (not the car, the theory. Well, obviously I hope the car works of course Grin )

Blue hope you kissed and made up, that and your SWI plans are well underway this month.

Waves to Manda Eve Zebra Poppy and whatso wishes everyone a lovely Sunday. I am off out later for Sunday afternoon cocktails . My friends will immediately be suspicious when I tell them I'm driving. So, my cover up plan is that my SIL phoned not long before I left the house asking if I could babysit tonight, as her work have asked her to do an extra nightshift tonight as payback for when she took one off the other week when the wee man wasn't well. Genius, as my friends know I would drop everything for my wee nephew Smile

Missgiraffe1 · 04/09/2011 10:03

Happy hols Blue !!!

MandaHugNKiss · 04/09/2011 12:26

missG!! I am shocked and also in awe of your lies! I mean, all in a good cause and that, but soooo convincing. I'd be sold and I can normally smell a rat a mile away!

My tests are still bfn but I am only 9 dpo today so... yeah.

Man, I'd kill for some prawn satay just now. A whole LOAD of it

babysaurus · 04/09/2011 19:11

Hello all,
No cousin baby news as such but my wayward Grandma told me last night that 'J' had gone into labour. I sent my cousin and J a good luck message only to get one promptly back saying she 'had NOT gone into labour, night x' However, developing news is now that she is in hospital being monitored as she has had a week of on / off concrations. Watch this space...

I was going to log on last night but was far too tired after spending the day with my gorgeous neice. She is fab, very cute indeed, and DH LOVES her too (always a bonus Wink)

MarathonMama · 04/09/2011 19:58

Oh Summer your post made me cry, how old is your DS? My DD is just two and I'd love to hear those words, I bet you were smiling for hours!

Peps your car sounds fab, let's hope it works Wink

Blue grabs a choc muffin, thanks! 73 years is blinkin' impressive! What's their secret??? Hope they're both ok, glad to hear they're sounding better than expected. I don't have any grandparents left and really miss them (especially my matriarch grandmothers, both were awesome woman, I didn't really know my grandfathers that well). Hope AF buggers off soon so you can SWI without company, IYSWIM. Enjoy your break!!!

MissG am so with you re. the girl from Fife, what was going on with Michelle Rowland and the waterworks? Very OTT IMO. Also, she sang an Adele song and wasn't a patch on Adele, she was good, don't get me wrong, but not as good as the hype she got from the judges and audience. You can only assume that the other people they'd seen that day were rubbish or that she doesn't come across as well on the telly.

Hope you enjoyed the cocktails. The last time I went out I got there first, ordered a round of cocktails including a virgin one for me which I was drinking when they arrived (they were non the wiser) and then had a glass of wine with dinner that DH kept drinking when our friends weren't looking.

How are you feeling? I'm trying not to think about the scan but the time is really dragging. Just want it over and done with now.

Manda good to hear from you. I've got everything crossed that it's good news. Are you POAS every day?

Baby glad to hear you had a nice time with your niece, hope baby arrives soon for "J".

Shimmery please can you come and do my garden? Plants hate me, they go brown just looking at me.

Did you all see that Amanda Holden is pg again? I'm not her biggest fan (she always seems a bit smug) but have been impressed with her PMA. She's told everyone early this time as she "knows" it's going to be ok. Apparently she took advice from Zita West.

Hello to everyone I've missed, just off to check on my homemade crumble (passes it round with custard or ice cream) and to watch Dragon's Den...

OP posts:
babysaurus · 04/09/2011 20:23

Okay, I didn't want to drone on earlier but now after a glass or two I do so...
Please can I have some PMA? I feel fed up today about the whole TTC thing. Spoke to a friend for over an hour tonight who's 6 months pregnant and I kept thinking that I was a mere 7 weeks behind her Sad She had two MC's and I know she can relate to how I feel, and I could talk to her about it, but now she's off the phone I just feel fed up. And frustrated! I almost half wish I'd never even ventured on this TTC lark in the first place as it seems to do nothing but do my head in (even when I was pg and didn't know anything was wrong it did my head in in other ways!)
I keep thinking of things we may plan for, say, 6 months time, and can't help but think 'will I be pg by then' and similar thoughts. But! What if it does take ages? What if I mc again?!
Then its back to square frigging one. Marvellous.

Summerbird73 · 04/09/2011 21:36

sending bucketloads of PMA over to baby i have no words of wisdom other than to say that we are all with you and holding your hand through this shite time (sorry for the bad language but this isnt NMs Grin ). I know exactly how you are feeling, me and DH had a real HtH tonight and we are both so fed up about it Sad

marathon and missg DS is 2yrs 3 months and is a little delight, the way he said it was so heartfelt i was on a cloud for ages afterwards Smile

happy hols blue and thanks for the choc muffin, you enjoy yourself

i saw X Factor last night - actually the girl from Fife had me in tears (but that was simply because of the sob story of bringing her gran - i am a bit 'grandparent emotional' at the mo!) i think she will be in the live finals as she was really good - i did think that Kelly Rowland was a bit OTT on the whole 'i have a dream' thing... Hmm

missg i love your cover up story - did it work?

pebs loving the new car - we started booking a skiing hol when i got my BFP with DS - i also applied for a new job, we completely tempted fate which worked Smile

babysaurus · 04/09/2011 21:49

Thanks Summer. It's crap this TTC nonsense isn't it? (And yes, it is only nonsense when things don't go the way we want!)

PieMistress · 04/09/2011 22:06

virtual hug to baby, am so with you on the utterly crap thing!!

sorry for short post, am zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz after a mad day on the beach today. DS would not stay away from the water and had DP & I running around like mad things after him (and bizarrely the coldness of the north sea didn't seem to bother him, unlike me - my feet were freezing paddling with him!).

Back to work tomorrow and already dreading the stress that will lie ahead, however last night at 1am when I couldn't sleep (for worrying about work) I wrote a list of things I need to speak to my line manager about tomorrow as my workload is getting ridiculous so I feel a bit better.

I must catch up on this thread though this week! xxx Hope everybody is well xx

Summerbird73 · 04/09/2011 22:10

pie where in the north are you? (you can generalise if you wish) i grew up in Newcastle and went on numerous holidays 'up the coast' i say your DS is a good lad as you havent toughened up until you have 'plodged in the north sea' Grin

InsomniaQueen · 05/09/2011 07:17

Can't possibly catch up with you chatter boxes so will start from this page (sorry to all) and try to get back into things......thankfully my sister has returned Grin - she arrived - washed up in 10 mins (I've been using as few plates as possible as the smell of the kitchen makes me sick) and then in another 10 mins she'd prepared me my first real hot meal in a week.....god what am I gonna do when she goes back to uni at the end of the month!!!

Just to give a catch up of biscuit related things....my fat pouch is continuing to grow and I'm now definitely 'showing' and have been told by my team that there is no where left to hide my big knockers or the football I'm smuggling round under my clothes.....thinking I'm gonna have to step out of the pregnancy closet but just want to get through my next scan. The lovely health and safety man has also been round to do my pregnancy at work risk assessment and declared that my director is being unreasonable and he will be sending her a report outlining where the problems are, which she has to sign and agree to....thank god for health and safety!!!

blue - sorry to hear about your grandparents....its bloody hard to deal with as you almost let yourself be fooled that they will be around forever. My gramps is going in to have a stent (is that the right spelling) in his heart....currently bricking this but trying to stay positive as he is generally very fit and strong. Sending you hugs from casa iq.

zebra - I think below 5 is about right for a negative, I had to look it up on the internet can't remember where I found it but it gave the average hcg levels by week of pregnancy.

pie - welcome back and glad you had a good time even if the terrible witch got you!!

shimmery - glad to see your enjoying some time off even if your not getting down to business!! Baking - I miss baking - really hoping that once I'm done with work I can get back in to some of those things but realise with dc I probably won't have time to shower let alone bake from scratch!!!

summer - cassidy is lovely and a great tribute to your grandad....what is it about grandad's that are so amazing??? Mine still gives me 50p to go and get some sweets at the shop!! Also "I love you" from mini summer....awesome - not really sure what mini iq will say to me - if they are anything like their father probably "is there anything left in the pots on the stove" or "do you mind if I watch X football match" or "where have I put X item - I can't find it"!! He he he

pebspop - new car sounds fab....v jealous Envy - definitely hope your fate tempting works!!

Missg - sorry that your gran is poorly as well....hoping she makes a good recovery and can get home before the autumn sets in. Hugs from here!!! Starting to feel worried about the scan....I do feel like things are ok but my mind keeps running through awful scenarios and so I just can't feel confident....keeping everything crossed now and only 5 sleeps away so will be stressing increasingly until I get there and they say everything is fine!!

marathon - sending you lots of crossed fingers and good thoughts for wednesday...will be thinking of you and checking MN loads for your up date!!! Also saw about amanda holden being pg again....me and my sister worked out she must have gotten pregnant again within 8ish weeks of delivering her last baby.....not sure how the heck she did that cos I thought you were meant to wait X amount of weeks after giving birth to have sex again - I'm just damn confused now!!!

baby - sorry your feeling down - hope that monday morning finds you in a better place than last night. TTC is like handing over all your future plans to an unknown entity which makes everything feel very out of control. Thinking of you and reminding you that you should feel free to 'drone' here with us! Xxx

Right next doors baby is awake so that must mean its gone 7 so I suppose I better get my self together and get out to that terrible place I call work. My dog is on the floor next to my bed and we had a 'supernanny' style stand off last night of me turning the light out and him jumping on to the bed and then being promptly returned to his assigned sleeping space.....after 20 mins he got the message and finally settled himself down!!!

Big wave to manda, eve, poppy, whatso and anyone else I have missed. Love to all xxx

Summerbird73 · 05/09/2011 10:36

IQ i too was a bit Hmm about Amanda Holden. Dont get me wrong she is completely 'with us' on this thread as we all know how distressing a MC is, furthermore both of her babies were really quite far on (was it 5 months and 7 months? something like that anyway) which must have been horrendous for her. Maybe it is Envy on my part but she did seem to get pregnant really quickly.

And hey what about your sister - is she still having her 'empathy pregnancy' i did love hearing your stories about her in the early days Grin

MarathonMama · 05/09/2011 14:32

Sending big hugs to baby and Summer, hope you're feeling more chipper. Get your studded leather nipple tassels on, boobs out and PMA all the way girls Grin

IQ very good point about Amanda Holden, I think it was about two months after she had the still birth. Maybe they had some sort of IVF-type help? I know after having DD I didn't want anything anywhere my fanjo for at least 8 weeks, sorry if TMI. I'm very impressed with her PMA though, she didn't tell anyone until she was 6 months with the last one (I can't believe no one guessed) but they've told people at 3 months this time.

Don't feel worried about the scan IQ, I'm sure it'll be fine. My husband says worrying is wasted energy. He's so right but that doesn't stop me from worrying. Feeling very calm about my scan though, I bet I won't be when I'm lying on that bed. I just hope the sonographer finds something quickly and there's not a lot of routing around trying to find the baby like there was with the mmc. Makes me shudder just thinking about it.

Glad you're showing though, that's a good sign. When I had my mmc I went to the scan wearing my tight skinny jeans. I suppose I should have known that all was not well just from the fact that I didn't have any bulge. This time I am getting very porky, but it's not really a bump, I have fat EVERYWHERE! I suspect it's just too many crisps and the cakes that you lot keep offering Wink

MissG was watching This Morning at the gym and they were taking about X factor, apparently the Fife girl sang something else first in her audition but then Louis asked her to sing Adele. Maybe whatever she sang first wasn't as good so everyone wanted her to be better.

Summer is your DS a good talker? My DD seems to be getting worse! She was doing really well but the words are getting harder to understand, I have no idea why but suspect as she gets more words she kind of forgets how to pronounce the ones she knew already, IYSWIM? Did your DS do this? I love them at this age. My DD was signing and saying "snap, snap" like a crocodile this morning and getting very cross with me when I didn't respond in the way she wanted. I then realised she meant "snack", she must think crocodiles spend their whole day snacking (which they probably do!).

Right, will leave you all to your work (ah hem), hello to everyone Smile

OP posts:
pebspop · 05/09/2011 14:58

i went to watch x factor auditions and i would say most of the contestants sign more than one song then they must use the one they like best on the tv.

i rang my local birth centre today as the midwife who came to visit after i delivered the baby at my last mc said i should ring if i have any questions. i asked them about my missing period. they said i should go to the gp or i could try the family planning clinic. the family planning would be best for me as it is run in the evenings and getting to gp is a pain with work etc

has anyone been to a family planning clinic before? is it run by midwifes?? i haven't been to one since i was a teenager lol! i am sure i will meet some classy clientele in the waiting room!

pebspop · 05/09/2011 14:59

sing

Summerbird73 · 05/09/2011 15:30

marathon DS has been pretty slow on the uptake with his talking, we have been determined not to worry about it, but it isnt easy when my friends son (who is the same age) has been talking for almost a year now. Mind you she is a speech therapist and has probably been witholding food until he reads the full menu Hmm

Actually DS has only just started stringing words together, he made DH follow him around the garden pushing a tiny lawn mower yesterday, DS encouraging him with words such as 'that way' Smile he mainly uses one word sentences though, 'milk' 'apple' 'nana' (banana) although we were on skype the other day to my mum and he said 'bye bye nana' which made her blub!

It is a slow process but we can see that he is starting to really try and communicate - the 'i love you' was more of a 'iwuvyu' but was awesome!

yep i am feeling really positive now, my counselling sessions have stopped as of last week, i should have had one more but i didnt feel i needed it any more. so onwards and upward and the boobs are out all the way!!! Grin
