raspberrytipple hope things are going all right for you now. it took me a while to get back in the frame of mind to think about babies as every1 else seems to do it so easy i got really exasperated at my body.

raspberrytipple · 26/11/2011 19:56

Thanks guys, I am a little nervous but as DH has said it has to be done as hopefully it will get us the result we want! It's so hard seeing everyone with their little ones but I feel now like its within my grasp as at least things are getting going. I'm also trying to be as pro active at TTC as I can, I've given up booze, caffiene and have vitamins and nuts/seeds coming out of my ears! Lol.

DessieLou · 28/11/2011 17:07

Blimey, this thread took some finding! Where is everyone? I am getting seriously frustrated with AF. She's been threatening to arrive for a few days but no sign yet. My mums coming to stay for a long weekend on thursday and really don't want to be crippled by AF when she's here! Angry

Cupcake83 · 29/11/2011 08:42

Hi Girls, I think I'd like to have a go at some ovulation tests. Has anyone used them or know of anywhere online that sells them cheaply (boots are really expensive) thanks :)

CaveMum · 29/11/2011 13:47

Hello all, very quiet round here these days!

Well the good news is that the Clomid worked and I have ovulated! Yay me! AF is due about 8th Dec, so it's now a case of waiting.

OP posts:
SweetieDoesIt · 29/11/2011 14:56

Way to go Cave seems Clomid has done the job. Lets just see what happens next, fx for you!!!

AF got me on Monday after wasted testing on Saturday. I just prefer to know and feel less gutted when she does show up. I have felt a bit low since but I seem to be more bloated than usual and am fat my clothes all are too tight.

I have ordered some OPK sticks for next month too Cupcake. I have not used them before. I only ordered 25 to see how I get on, I think the smiley face ones are easier to read but much more expensive. I am hoping they are delivered this week and then I intend testing from about CD10, my cycle length usually 28 -31 days.

Any news raspberry?

DessieLou · 29/11/2011 15:35

Well done cave! Fingers and toes crossed for you.
Thanks for posting that link for Ov tests sweetie. Think I might give them a go next month.
AF made an appearance last night so hopefully I'll be over the worst of it by the time my mum arrives!
Feeling a bit fed up the last few days..everyone seems to be having babies at the mo. My friend from school is about to have her 3rd...how greedy of her!!! AF won't be helping my mood I suppose....damn her! Nevermind, at least Mum will be here to take my mind off things at the weekend.
Hope you ladies are all doing well. Smile

londonlivvy · 29/11/2011 15:36

I am TTC, aged 36 (he is 35) and currently on round 3. With friends, it seems to have either taken 5 minutes or five years and as it hasn't taken us five minutes, I'm starting to be concerned that it might end up taking us five years. I have no real reason to suspect that might be the case but am scared nevertheless. To all those who have been TTCing for years, you have my sincerest sympathies - must get properly tough. On the plus side, we at least get lots of nookie?

We're both healthy weights and don't smoke and don't drink much (like two glasses of wine a week, max). I drink probably three cups of coffee a day though - should I be giving up that? I am also trying to do more yoga / get less stressed etc - but am not naturally a zen sort of person.

The doc said just to have sex every other day and we're trying that but that takes some serious stamina . Does everyone else do that or just aim for D day?

I've ordered some ovulation sticks so may give those a try this month (though am trying not to freak DP out with too many gory girly details).
Cupcake83, my friend suggested these sticks - so have ordered them.

DessieLou · 29/11/2011 15:47

Hi london! I'm sorry you're finding it tough at the mo, to be honest so am I so probably not the best person to try gee you up! If you fancy it every other day then go for it but I'd say concentrate on your ov days otherwise it gets a bit monotonous and DP may feel like he's being used for his sperm! And definately cut down on the caffeine. Raspberry saw a nutritionist who said it was a no-no. Keep your chin up,it WILL happen! Thanks

londonlivvy · 29/11/2011 16:27

Thanks Dessie for moral support! Good luck to you too. This positive thinking this is the plan but not always easy to do!

My aim is to try to sleep more/ exercise more/ eat better/ drink less coffee but I need to try not to beat myself up when I fail on all of the above.

raspberrytipple · 29/11/2011 18:30

Evening frolickers!
No news from me Sweetie only that AF got me on Sunday and has pretty much gone now so back on the shag wagon this week (not for TTC, just haven't been well enough for a month so I seriously need som SFF!)

I've got more sticks for the CBFM so have turned that back on but I couldnt work out how to use the bloody thermometer so I've given up on that for this month :) Diet is going well, have lost a bit of weight and haven't had a drink or tea/coffee in two weeks! Grin.

AF turned up yet Dessie ? I know how you feel with the whole friends having babies all over the place, my friends seem to be breeding like daddio at the moment and giving me looks like 'you just need to relax but try harder, you must be doing something wrong'. grrrrrrr.

cupcake I have only used the CBFM sticks not the ov sticks so can't help sorry but I think smiley faces would be the best, it's either a yes or a no then. Ebay or amazon I would imagine are the best.

cave congratulations on the ovulation! Fingers very tightly crossed for you!

secret my cycles are usually between 30-35 and yes it is very frustrating. I just wish they could be around 29 days but hey ho, anything between 28-35 is supposed to be normal so I try not to worry about it too much.

Hi London and welcome. Yep I saw a nutritionist and she said caffiene was a big no no, along with booze but if I had to have a drink it should be a good quality red wine as it doesn't have the sugar and chemicals in it. We try to go for once every two/three days then every day over ov days but of course that relies on knowing when it is so ov kits are helpful. Good luck!

Right I'm off for my first portion of oily fish as recommended by my diet guru Hmm

JosieSmith1 · 29/11/2011 20:15

Fab news Cave

Cupcake I trid the smiley face ones, was a bit of a boost when it all seemed to be getting a bit much, I at least felt like I was doing something right.

I made meringue yesterday and it was bloody gorgeous! I've just taken a fruit cake out of the oven (I don't eat it though so I'm a bit gutted) so I might have to make some fairy buns so that I have something yummy to eat.

Trying to SWI as much as possible here in the hope that if we manage to get pg this month I won't have to go for any more tests. Fingers crossed (yet again)

raspberrytipple · 29/11/2011 22:25

Sorry London I should have said that when advising me to give up booze and caffeine completely this was partly to do with conception but also partly to do with anxiety issues I was having, improving fertility wasn't the only reason. I think 200mg is the recommended maximum daily amount so one or two cups of tea a day shouldn't affect conception. :) or maybe swap to de-caf. Even just in the last two weeks I have developed a massive amount of energy from not drinking on the weekend and cutting out caffeine (I used to have around 5 large cups of tea/coffee a day and chocolate every day). Makes a huge difference I think. Also - I used to have really, really spotty arms but that seems to have gone too? Hmm not that I'm complaining!

SweetieDoesIt · 30/11/2011 08:27

raspberry glad the diet seems to be doing its job, it is always easier and more motivating if you start to get results. I had been going for acupuncture for anxiety and regulating my cycles after coming off the pill. I feel this has really helped me feel much more "awake" but I am not sure it has totally addressed the under lying sense of anxiety but I haven't had any panic attacks since I started going 2 months ago. They also advised I swap citrus drinks and dilute juices for pure apple juice.

Josie those cakes are sounding FAB just the job with a caffeine free cuppa. Wink

SweetieDoesIt · 30/11/2011 08:30

Forgot but another bizarre thing they said was to get rid of the plug in air freshener things. I know it sounds really strange but I have felt loads better since I have removed them.

Apparently a link has been made between unexplained anxiety and plug in air fresheners. I haven't goggled it but it worth giving it a go if you use them.

Beegee757 · 30/11/2011 13:46

oooh - some interesting stuff on this page! Thanks ladies! I thought I had a pretty good diet, but think I defintely need to cut down on the caffeine intake (5 cups of tea a day = bad!).

Also, have appointment with Drs next week, so going to bite the bullet and mention about TTC, to see what she says... wish me luck!

londonlivvy · 30/11/2011 13:47

Thanks raspberry for hints & tips. I shall try to restrict my alcoholic indulgences to nice red then. I'm quite a stressy kind of person so probably less coffee in general would be A Good Thing - aiming for just my morning cup and decaf / mint after that.

ooh Josie I've just bought the smiley face ones - arrived today. Will be giving that a try this month. I have learnt SO much about female biology in the last few months. Makes me wonder whether I listened at all at school!

Sweetie Will be interested to hear how you get on with acupuncture. there seem to be quite a few differing opinions on it.

raspberrytipple · 30/11/2011 18:01

I thought I had a good diet to beegee but turns out it was awful and I'm really starting to see why I felt so miserable all the time. Just noticed last night my cellulite it getting less too so all good at the moment, but only three weeks in really.

Be interested to know how your acupuncture goes sweetie, I've thought about it before but I'm just a teeny bit skeptical and DH is massively skeptical to the point of infuriating me as he just dismisses anything like that straight off. The nutritionist I saw also said about cleaning products/chemicals around the house because of the estrogen(sp?!) in them can affect fertility so getting rid of the glade is def a good idea and so is trying to use natural cleaning products apparently but I've not got that far into it yet Hmm

Josie I can't believe you don't like fruit cake! I really can't understand it. We had a sponge wedding cake as we know so few people who like fruit cake it didn't seem worth it. Fruit cake is AMAZING!

Good luck with the smiley faces London I found the CBFM so exciting the first day it gave me an egg which is the cue to shag that I accidentally elbowed DH in the face. Needless to say there was no SWI for a few hours after because he had the grumps Sad Blush

Right, I'm off pole dancing/burlesqueing for the evening. xx

Cupcake83 · 01/12/2011 07:44

Thanks Sweetie for the link, I think I'm going to try those first (they are a lot cheaper) and see how I get on.

Thanks everyone for the advice on this too. I am very regualar and think I do ovulate but to pinpoint it would help concentrate efforts.

London - you have described me and my OH completley. We're only on round 3 too - and we're trying every other day around ovulation. The first month we tried every day during this period but OH found it too demanding (plus I think the reality of what we were trying to do freaked him out).

Rasberry, great advice on the restriction of caffeine and only drinking good quality red wine.

DessieLou · 01/12/2011 10:38

Such a educational thread, love it!
AF has been and almost gone, thankfully. My mum is arriving today, yey! Not see her for 6 weeks and she's not been to visit since we moved to the back of beyond 6 months so looking forward to showing her round....not that there's much to see!
On a downer, there is a builder ripping down my bedroom ceiling as we speak to find the source of the mysterious damp patch...Sad Dread to think of the mess!
Hope you all have a great weekend, happy shagging! Grin

Beegee757 · 02/12/2011 09:00

Just read this article on line -

www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2068908/Could-simple-pill-costing-30p-day-answer-getting-pregnant.html

I'm using the Boots 'own brand' pre-conception vitamins - rather than the expensive version listed on this article - so fingers crossed it's helpful to those of us not on IVF!

(Interesting that this article also lists stress and caffeine as bad - I think they've been reading our posts!!)

JosieSmith1 · 02/12/2011 15:30

Stupid computer lost my huge post Angry

Gist was:

I'm making caramel shortbread, just waiting for the caramel to cool then I'll put the choccy topping on.

Got my letter from hopsital so I have to ring them on day 1 of my next period to book my HSG but I had an awful dream about it last night which has freaked me out and now I'm terrified!! PG friend posted a piccy of her 'bump' on fb even though she's only 11 weeks. She has her first scan next week so that's going to be very difficult
