Cep lovely news about the scan Grin

Thanks so much for all your advice about my relatives. Have decided that I am going to ask my GP to put a note on my file when I see her on Monday. Ask for a private scan at 8 weeks and then arrange my booking appt. Then, finally call my relatives and tell them just what I think of what they've done, and let them know that should they do it again I will have no hesitation in making a formal complaint.
So won't tell parents just yet as Dad has surgery next week Sad and they have enough to be worrying about.

to everyone else,

KnitterNotTwitter · 06/04/2011 12:50

Hey ladies

Back from the CVS and it was ok... Before the procedure I had a 20 min chat with a lovely midwife and then signed a consent form. As DH couldn't come with me because of work the lovely midwife then came in with me for the CVS and held my hand. First they did a scan and checked the measurements. Bean was asleep so was much more compliant than yesterday!

Then the consultant came in and did the actual CVS. It's a bit wacky as they don't bother with an anaesthetic... They just jab the needle in. Obviously he's watching on the scan screen to check he's in the right place. Actual CVS took about 2 minutes max and he seemed pleased. They then talked about what happens next.... I should get a phone call either Friday or Monday with the results...

Will hang around here until then if that's ok :) and obviously as soon as I know I'll let you know.

Thanks for all the support - you were definitely all in the room with me...

Well done you - many, many treats are now in order. Get thee to the cake shop. xxx

Velvetcu · 06/04/2011 13:39

I'm glad the actual procedure wasn't too bad knitter I am really hoping that you get good news when the results come in xxx Of course you can wait around here :)

Blackkat good plan on how to deal with the relatives, they will probably try to justify themselves but they are not allowed to do it so should stop.

Dachs hows the bum? Have you been for a poo yet? It hurts with a broken coccyx! I hope you arent constipated too! (sorry :()

Things at work have gone a bit surreal for me! I spoke to HR lady this morning (she had mc when she was younger and was great last time). She said go home and dont come back til things are ok. I said no since I would just sit at home mentalling. Deputy head walked past, came in and said "you're pregnant arent you? I've seen all of the signs" (his wife has just had their second baby in 2 yrs). So now he knows too and said I had to go home. I said no. Half an hour later he comes back and said that he had spoken to the head (whom I did't want to know yet!) and he had ordered me to go home! So I stayed for a few hours to sort some stuff out and am now at home. Scan is at 11 tomorrow, they've told me not to bother going in whatever the outcome. I really thought the male members of management would be a bit arsey about it all.

Pains have mostly gone back to stretchy but I still have some squeezy ones, a bit of brown goo this morning but that's it so fx it's all fine.

PinkFondantFancy · 06/04/2011 13:44

Well done knitter you are amazing. I really really hope that you get good results and that they come back on Friday rather than Monday. I agree, definitely calls for treats this afternoon!

blackkat that sounds like a good plan. Definitely stand firm with the rellies, they were completely out of order.

velvet that is fantastic news. Get yourself out in the garden with a nice trashy magazine and an ice cream and put your feet up. Brown rather than pink goo sounds v. promising.

MummyAbroad · 06/04/2011 13:50

knitter so glad it went ok. I found amnio terrifying and I had my mum and step dad to hold my hand! You are very brave going alone! Will keep my fingers crossed for the entire week for you until your results come in.

chocky!!! Hello! Welcome back to MN Smile we missed you. Here is the other thread that Izzy was talking about, and it has its own list too. Those symptoms do sound very good Grin

collie sounds like a good plan. Hope the relies learn their lesson!

Right, I am off to try and book a scan for Friday, when I will hopefully be in the "safe zone" Shock Confused

knitter you are so very brave and i admire the way you are coping. So sorry you had to go on your own but your mw sounds like a love. Really hoping you get good results, hope they come quickly. Xx

velvet naughty of your colleagues to be disscussing your pg without you wishing them to, but they sound so nice and caring they can be forgiven. Glad your resting. Fx for tomorrow.

hotnspicyonions · 06/04/2011 16:37

Afternoon all! Another major catch up to be had, phew. What a busy few days it has been on here.

Knittter you brave lady. Hope the results are all good for you. I know it's something that I'm concerned about being an 'older Mum'.

WIW I've been using a wheat pillow for the past 2 weeks as have been suffering with sciatica in my right bum cheek Blush. Very uncomfortable and makes me walk like an OAP! The heat seems to help though and a friend said it'd be ok (Auntie is a midwife).

Velvet it does make you wonder sometimes, this free service called the NHS, is it really for everybody. Or just the ones who scream and shout the loudest?! Pain in the arse! Boo to them, good luck for tomorrow. Great support from your male colleagues, perhaps Brian has been having a word to all male counterparts?!?! If he has he's missed my DP!

Tunnocks glad you are more Zen like today. I'm sending more Zen vibes your way. Have you got them yet ?

Cep Well done at joining the list. It's great watching those days add up and scan dates getting nearer!

Dach OUCH on the backside. And there was me thinking my sciatica was painful. Hope you're getting plenty of rest and TLC in RL.

Blackkat Boo to your relatives indeed. That certainly is a sackable offence. Good for you taking it up with them. No added stress at this time is definitely needed! I have a relative who works for the NHS and has access to hospital records, but they wouldn't dream of blabbing anything to anyone. Handy for me though if I forget an appointment etc!

I've probably missed out shitloads of important news, but Brian has put a stop on things for now, and I think I need a nap!

hotnspicyonions · 06/04/2011 16:41

I have got my scan date through, yipideedoodah!!!!! And relax........ yeah right!!!!

Gosh knitter - you are very brave indeed and so pleased to hear you had such a caring midwife with you. I do hope you get the news you want and as early as possible.

Great that you have such caring colleagues too velvet. Fingers v tightly crossed for 11am tomorrow.

onions - you have serious zen going on if you've managed to hold on for your first scan until you're 13 weeks - most impressed - and no wonder you're excited. Thanks for the helpful pointer on the wheat pillow too - mine also seems to be sciatic related but left bum cheek rather than the right Grin

Sounds like a v sensible plan blackkat and well done for being brave in calling your relatives. I'm sure we'll all be interested to hear what they have to say for themselves....

How are you doing daisy? Feeling any better?

Had a great yoga session with our lovely teacher tonight - she's very accommodating and her relax sessions are great at the end although I can't stop thinking about bean and whether it's all going to be ok instead of focusing on nothing.....

mattsmama · 06/04/2011 18:53

Knitter pleased to hear it all went smoothly for you and you had a lovely midwife there with you. I hope you get the best possible news very soon.

Blackkat Excellent decision with regard to your relatives. Sending very best wishes for you Dad too.

Velvet Good luck for that scan tomorrow and what lovely colleagues you have!

Hello everyone else Smile

mememe alert. my ms is easing so I am convinced there is a problem. any advice? I'm 9 weeks tomorrow...

MummyAbroad · 06/04/2011 19:43

I'm experiencing the same Katherine I'm 9+5 today and it started disappearing a few days ago. Still feel like barfing when I brush my teeth though - do you?

OP posts:
IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 06/04/2011 19:48

knitter I'm so glad it went smoothly - sorry you had to go alone but it sounds like your mw was a star. I'll be keeping everything crossed for the results xxx

blackkat sending my best wishes for your dad x

Katherine I believe that the placenta starts to take over at around this point which can lead to the easing off of symptoms...I'm also a little nervous here as after finally feeling quite nauseous at the start of the week I'm now back to feeling fine again Confused. Keep telling myself it's normal for symptoms to come and go. I'm 6+5.

velvet sorry everyone at works knows before you wanted them too but it sounds like they were all lovely about it so it's probably for the best. Good luck for tomorrow x

mummya do you have a scan coming up later this week too?

MummyAbroad · 06/04/2011 20:12
