This is a continuation of the "More ongoing and continuing conceptions and follicling ahead of Feisty, Fabulous Forty somethings"

I thought I would keep the title short as there are so many long ones out there.

I thought I would start the new thread so that you don't forget me Grin

Curlylox · 28/01/2011 20:18

Blimey when's the Bistro opening as I'm starving and could do with a drink or three Grin

SameOldJollster · 28/01/2011 20:48

yeah, I fancy a nice Sirloin on the rare side of medium rare, with some lovely grilled mushrooms, and some pommes frites with some yummy moutarde... and a large glass of something red and fruity (am not an expert on reds, any recommendations?). And I think for pud I would like some eton mess. YUM Grin

I am loving Fridays :)

Diege · 28/01/2011 21:03

Sorry, sorry, orders on their way Grin. I'm having posh fish and chips, with cider-soaked batter and real chips, some french bread and thick butter on the side, then some chewy cream merangues (sp?), a decaff cappucino and a box of ferrero rocher Blush.
Chef is doing your steak now Jollster, though it could be while as he's running it under the hot tap (needs defrosting). Curly, the drinks waitress will be over shortly!

louisesh · 28/01/2011 21:24

Sorry i got side tracked!!! I had a nice big dirty kebab after 2 glasse's of rose!!!!! Mmmm.... lovely Wink

Nicole pre Georgie i used the clear blue opk's as the smiley face was simple [and i like simple things mwah!!!] .Last month i tried the first response tests with the lines and like you sometimes the lines were fainter sometimes wider etc etc.....so i ve gone back to ye old faith ful of smiley faces.Yes they re more expensive but its like with the pg tests i get sick of trying to decipher a line would rather see it in writing!!!

Boots have them on offer at the moment £20 for 7 tests instead of £22.Or Amazon [i ll be ordering mine on Monday no doubt] £29.99 for 20 tests.Excellant price XXX

Latestarter yes , do keep up!!!! Don t you know this will become your life now!!!!

Where's Hippy again mia????

Diege stop slacking!!!! Anyone would think we re here for fun!!!

Now wheres that wine gone???? Hmm

nicole333 · 28/01/2011 21:39

Thanks Louise I think the smiley faces might be the way forward for me, as I also like simple!

The article in the mag describes the fertility expert often testing for occult infections in both the sperm and the uterus. One of his clients had been trying for 10 years and had been pumped full of strong fertility drugs about 50 times, without pregnancy. A mycoplasma inf. was found in her cervix and after a course of antibiotics, she was pregnant within a month!!

Now down to the next love of my life...food! I also fancy a steak, medium rare with all the trimmings. For pudding it has to be warmed chocolate brownies, with warmed chocolate sauce squirted over them in a cheffy manner! with ice cream on the side. I had a couple of drinks before ordering, so suitably tipsy already.

Curlylox · 28/01/2011 21:45

At last.....louise a girl after my own heart ditto for a big fat dirty kebab and a bottle of Blossom Hill zinfandel rose and a side order of houmous too please Grin

louisesh · 28/01/2011 21:48

Mycoplasma are very difficult to identify in the lab If diagnosed [which is highly unlikely] the tx is a broad spectrum ab as in the tx for chlamydia anyhow.[Either Azithroymcin or doxycycline].

Curlylox · 28/01/2011 21:53

Is Psychologies magazine a good informative read then nicole? To be honest I don't read many magazines more books but when I have looked at the magazine rack/shelf I have pondered over the that magazine. Hey Louise my cycle buddy can we share your rose as can't wait for my order to arrive???

louisesh · 28/01/2011 21:57

No probs Curly you better get in quick befor i quaff the lot!!!!!

nicole333 · 28/01/2011 22:26

It's the first copy I've read Curly, so the jury's officially out. Even though it's caught my eye since it was first out, I'm not sure I'll bother to buy another. I try hard not to buy any anymore, as I was getting sick of reading about what we should all be wearing or doing this month! Talk about sheep mentality! I've started to really rebel about things like that the older I get.

I'm wondering if this fertility guy is American Louise. The way the article was going was as if this was all standard procedure. I'm wondering why it would be hard to diagnose? Does it like to lie dormant? Maybe I should quit the reading and concentrate more on the doing Grin

Fat chance for me though. It's off to a lonely bed for me now, nighty night all Bear

gumblossom · 29/01/2011 00:54

Morning all, wish I could have joined you in the bistro last night. Next Friday I'll put in an early order and reheat it when I get up! As it was I had delicious Chinese takeaway. It really is good - they like to use loads of fresh local produce - so I got my fill of vegies.

Feeling so much better. I think we might be ttc.I want to, and when dh and I were- ahem- doing it- he asked,"what should I do?" and I said just go for it...and he did. For now, we'll leave it at that.

I'm 13 dpo, no RTD, but no bfp and absolutely no symptoms - no sore boobs or anything. I think because I stopped breastfeeding, maybe my LP has lengthened to 14 or 15 days as it used to be before Charlie. One thing that is different to usual is a very high firm closed cervix - I guess it's a month of differences...Confused

Louise, you sound very knowledgeable about infections - may I ask where you work, or what field you work in?

Italian - glad to hear your health is good, and maybe the thyroid thing will be a key? I know of many women who had thyroid issues stopping them from conceiving.

Anymore testing going on? Curly, please don't wait til 12 weeks - that's just madGrin!I do understand why your hubby said that though.

Jolls, I hope you're gearing up for the other 4 SWI's. You can do it!

No farmer's market today - thunderstorms - and apparently there's a tropical cyclone coming through tomorrowShock very unusual for down south here, but it has happened before. I do hope it's not as bad as the last one (in 1978 - which I remember - so old!). So we are staying in this morning.

See you laterSmile

Italiangreyhound · 29/01/2011 01:07

Wow, so busy!

Salad for me!

Please.

Welcome Latestarter2009

Diege · 29/01/2011 09:55

Curly! Your steak is done Grin
Good to see it so busy in the snug!
Italian, sorry no salad in the bistro, only artery-clogging trans fats here love Wink
Gum surely the high closed cervix is a good sign? Of course post-mc cycles can be buggers, but at least dh seems to be on board now? FWIW I think I wuld try not to get into the guilt thing re: his turnaround as he would adore any other little Gum-ette that was born. If it were me I'd just quietly accept that he's pretty much changed his mind and get on with things...but then I don't always stop to think things through fully Blush I know what you mean about wanting another, even though you have a large family. 6 would also be my magic number, but would be happy to have just one more making it 5.
I'd better go as dd3 has just announced 'Jacob smells of poo'...

louisesh · 29/01/2011 10:48

FFs...Just lost bloody message!!!!

Nicole I don t know much about mycoplasmia. Its not something we see a lot of and don t screen for it routinely.Think , maybe, our lab tests aren't sensitive enough to detect mycoplasma.

Gum oh your lovely life Envy apart from the spiders of course!!!! Yes i work in sexual health i m a specialist sister there and have done for the last 9 years!!!Whats's occuring??? Think we re all having an "odd" cycle!!!!Wink

Italian you re good!!!! With your salad!!!

Cd 26 here:nada!!! Think af will come on Monday we ll see...Hmm

louisesh · 29/01/2011 10:50

Oh Nicole I meant to say maybe a microbiologist would be able to explain mycoplasma. When i ve asked our consultant her info is limited [mind you , her knowledge is questionable at times!!!]

Diege · 29/01/2011 11:24

Hi Louise! Ooh your job sounds interesting! I was also wondering what it is you do from your post about the infections.
Agree about nutty cycles - we must all be synchronising that way what with us all being so close Grin. I'm 7 days post ov and temps still high, but some cramping today. Just hoping to get pasy last mths 9 day LP if I'm honest!
A weekend of work for me Sad. Have lots of marking to finish, and will also be starting the A level marking on Monday (I do that as a twice yearly sideline for holiday funds). It's really horible, soul-destroying, very pressured work that lasts 2-3 weeks and I'm dreading it, but am purely driven by the money Blush.
Hope everyone's enjoying the weekend x

zebedeethezebra · 29/01/2011 11:29

Louise - were those ovulation predictor kits you were mentioning earlier?? They're very expensive!

Can I suggest a Clearblue Fertility Monitor instead?? They are about £60 from Amazon, then the test sticks (which usually last 2 months) are £14 for a pack of 20. In the long run that will save you loads of money.

I had a successful first pregnany using the monitor, unfortunately its not working out so easy this time, but at least it takes the guess work out of the timing.

What's this Bistro thingy on a Friday night?? Did I miss it?

Curlylox · 29/01/2011 12:05

I had the most bizarre dream.....my office manager giving a packet of Always night towels, telling me I might as well have them as she has no need for them anymore!!!!! Mmm is this my subconcious telling me that af will be arriving after all and looks like my cycle will be changing again!! So want to test but I'm going to sit on my hands until Friday, gulp. Sorry my post is a wee bit self indulgent, it's all I can think about. Off to see a seamstress to see if she can do something with a beautiful dress I have hanging in my wordrobe that I have yet to wear as it's so ill fitting. Hope you're all enjoying your weekend, diege for you I hope the weekend passes quickly due to your marking.

louisesh · 29/01/2011 13:13

Diege my jobs mmm....sometimes interesting sometimes boring.Like any other job really.I used to be a surigcal nurse now thats hard work!!! My job is easy, no shifts , only 1 evening clinic. Its a good setting as a nurse for development we work as autonomous [sp] practitioners.Have our own patient lists.take a history, screen [swab],diagnose, prescribe and treat.[4 of us are nurse prescribers also] so its nice i can just get on with my job we don t need drs and they have no input in to our clinics.Glad you get the chance for over time.Sounds hard work though good if you can bank it for holidays.

Zeb have seen the monitors i may get one in a couple of months...if i need it!!!

0h Curly maybe its a sign.Lets hope.Muchas FX here.

Diege · 29/01/2011 14:11

Agree curly, weird dreams are 'a sign' Grin
Louise, ahh so you are one of Blair's 'Super Nurses' then? Must be great to have a bit of autonomy from the dr's.
I'm making good progress with my marking. The extra marking (which starts Monday, hence why I'm getting my day job stuff done now) is actually not overtime but me being a bit cheeky and squeezing in a second job...would be frowned on if they knew Blush So keep it quiet fellow snugg-ees!!!

louisesh · 29/01/2011 17:29

Don t know about one of "Blair's super nurses"!!!

Feel very down and mad with myself i caved and tested of course bfn [not even a hint of a line] so like i presummed i assume i m out this month. So fed up with it all i shouldn't be ttc again , in fact i should be in the position where i m trying my hardest to NOT get pg.

My life is so boring and empty compared to what it should be.The weekend s are boring the same apart from when we go away which are few and far between due to a lack of cash.Every weekend virtually the same. The week days are boring and empty the same.

Pissed off, fuc**d off I want a baby I want a family I want a life instead of this shite.

Sorry X

SameOldJollster · 29/01/2011 18:00

((((( lou ))))) :(

Italiangreyhound · 29/01/2011 18:26

Louise so sorry you are so down. Can you and DH do some new stuff, walks, hobbies, just stuff to take your mind off while TTC. Yes, I know you don't probably want to go walking (it is bloody freezing anyway) but something to take some of your energy into something else.

Tank hope you are well.

Gum going to the beach sounds great, we could not even face the park it was so cold today!

Hippy how goes it?

jolls/Diege/muchlove and co, hugs to you all.

OK red thai duck curry, my favourite, or is the kitchen closed?

Love to all.

nicole333 · 29/01/2011 18:56

Louise Big hugs to you and there is absolutely no need for you to apologise for letting it all out. Do what you need to do and say what you need to say to get through the next few days until you can pick yourself up to try again.

Re the infections. I work with someone who used to work in microbiology. At least I think that's what she said! Those monitors are so bloody expensive, I swear these companies are cashing in on us.
Diege Talking of funny cycles, I'm on CD12 and am yet to O. (O'd on CD 10 last month and tend to have short cycles). This is only my 2nd cycle of charting, so need to accept that I may not even ovulate this month and that could be just normal. I know I won't like it though.

Hi to everyone else Smile

gumblossom · 29/01/2011 23:30

Morning Girls.

Lou, sorry you are feeling shit. You know the bfn isn't final - not til the red lady sings...which she is doing at my place. RTD came yesterday and I'm relieved. NO more speculation.

Went to a 50th birthday party last night and wish I had sent my DH on his own. There was a great band playing live music, which was fab, but it was so loud you couldn't chat at all, and couldn't go outside as it was pouring with rain.I only lasted 2 hours, spent chasing a 2 year old around (was supposed to be a "family" party, but that loud music wasn't great for small people). Charlie kept taking other children's glow sticks, their drinks, running outside to the bon-fire etc. Drove me mad.DH had a lovely time dancing!

Also, I still don't feel very celebratory after the miscarriage.

So we came home and stayed up til 12 watching a movie! Now I'm shattered because DS got me up at 6 a.m. Would dearly love to crawl back into bed, but DS is doing his two year old stuff and can't be left alone in front of the telly - he's not that interested, and everyone else sleeps on...

Curly, did you test yet? Come on, the suspense is killing me!
