This is a continuation of the "More ongoing and continuing conceptions and follicling ahead of Feisty, Fabulous Forty somethings"

I thought I would keep the title short as there are so many long ones out there.

I thought I would start the new thread so that you don't forget me Grin

Thanks gg again a poor day just so lost.after always working then enjoying my 4weeks of mat leave thinking it would be the last free time I d have for a while now have literally nothing to do!!!! My stats are cd 12,ttc#1 1mmc ,2mcs and Georgie (stillborn 10/10/10 at 41 weeks,2days).ttc 2years,10 months.

Hope all are well sorry for being down.hope no one ever has to go through this .have a good day tomorrow I will post results from appt.

randomimposter · 18/11/2010 08:12

Just updated the stats, think I've added days on ok. But added Louise, changed Hairy and TFLS.

Difficult day with DS yesterday; bad behaviour with his "best" friend (who does provoke him a bit, but still), plus have been approached about a really exciting job. The sort of job pre motherhood I'd have been jumping for... and if I'm not going to have another child I might think about getting back to. Feeling a bit "crap at everything" today... crap at being a mum, crap at staying pregnant, crap at no longer having a brain.

Ignore me, will make a steaming cup of Assam and I'll feel much better.

Wave to all... x

Morining all,
((((hug)))) that's for anyone who wants oneSad

Strange itchy rashes in this house so not much sleep. (Doc diagnosed roseola in the car park) google says that's not itchy Confused

gum how's it going any more symptoms

I'm not sure how to feel, my hpts are all still faint, using ebay cheepies. Any recomendations for a test that might put my mind at rest (for a second or two). Would I get a darker line with a 'proper' test or would one with words be better???Hmm
My last 2 mc got faint +ves but really late.
This time is different as I got a faint +ve at 11dpo but it's still faint today at 16dpo.
Still not told dh, what a proper +ve first.

Spotty

Diege · 18/11/2010 11:30

Spotty fwiw I never get strong positives with e-bay cheapies - think it's to do with the dye in them, I know ither people who have said similar. Last time I had a successful pregnancy(with ds)I actually got a stronger line with a 'normal' tests (25 miu) than I did with the super senstive ebay cheapy (10 miu), and that was dipping in the same urine sample (I wa a tad obsessed after the mmc) Grin Could you perhaps try another brand? Tentative congrats anyay!!
Gum congrats seem to be in order for you too Grin. Now I hope you haven't got a twin CBD test there that you are planning to use next week - you know they are the devlil's work!
Jollster many thanks for the list - sterling work there! Sorry you are feeling so rubbish - you most certainly are NOT crap Angry. That's great news about the job? Might you take it up? Could you combine with a pregnancy anyway?
Louise I feel so sorry for you and how you must be feeling. I really wish there was something I could do. Is it today you meet with yur councillor?
Hi to everyone else - things do seem to be picking up in the snug testing/symptoms-wise!

hippychick66 · 18/11/2010 13:29

jolls sorry you're having a crap day. I think it is only a matter of time before you do have another pregnancy and I really hope it is a successful one. Can you not take the job anyway, to give you something else to concentrate on and as a fall back if DC2 doesn't come along???

diege thinking of you, how are you?

GG fab list my dear. We would really struggle to keep that up to date without you Wink.

louise As always, thinking of you and wishing you well.

tank & gum & spotty sit tight on there Smile.

as for me. Nothing to report. I was getting a tad hopeful cos my boobs were up to their old tricks but I am a little less confident today. I have cramps (only little ones but enough to make me think that the wicked old bitch is lurking around the corner).

I found out that i made a bad error of judgement at work on Tuesday. When I looked at the time that i did it, it was just after the whole - 'here's is my perfect little baby, lets all talk about our pregnancies' situation. So at least i know why i wasn't concentrating. Ahhh Sod it - who cares!

porth · 18/11/2010 13:32

Hi, can I join in? I'm 43, turing 44 in Dec(!).
I have a beautiful 5 year old boy.
Never been quite sure whether to go for number two or leave it at that. I conceived ds at age 38 on the second attempt.
Last year June I started using Clearblue fertility monitor to try and by Aug I was pregnant. Unfortunatley I lost the baby two months later in OCt.
Since then I have left it as was too upset and also worried I was too old and shouldn't be thinking such crazy thoughts. Also my DH worried we're too old and shouldn't bother. But of course now I'm wanting to try again....
But... I started to use the Clearblue monitor a few months ago; this month NO peak whatsoever! It just stayed with one bar every day til now, day 21 the M is flashing to show my period is due. Does this mean I have stopped ovulating? It showed two bars and the egg symbol every month for the past three or four months. I've joined the clearblue fertility monitor buddy thread too, but thought , due to may age, I should also get advice from you ladies.
Am feeling glum and depressed now. Have I left it too late. What should I be doing to maximise my chances? Should I consult GP?
What does the lack of a peak on the monitor indicate? Is it just a blip?
Also how does everyone feel about the risks of pregnancy over 40?
Are the risks enormous? Oh dear, feel pretty sad now....why did I leave it so long? Well I know why I left it so long, DH not keen, life too chaotic with one let alone two, my health not great, paranoia about risk of birth defects etc.
If anyone has a moment I'd love advice, sympathy, kick up the butt, etc.

hippychick66 · 18/11/2010 16:12

Hi porth and welcome.

I can't comment on the monitor questions cos I know nothing about them but hope someone else will. Perhaps gum, she likes a few gadgets.

I can definitely identify with wanting another baby at your age. I turned 44 a while back. Sorry to hear about the MC as well. Unfortunately, it seems to go hand in hand with TTC at our age.

I now exactly how you feel, it's so horrid being told by mother nature that your eggs are old and your chances less when you feel no different in your head.

There are many on here who have been successful at getting preg and some that pop back to encourage us who have either had their babies or are well on the way.

Stick with us and hopefully we can cheer you up a bit Smile.

spottysox · 18/11/2010 18:58

Welcome porth, there are a few ladies who are similar age to you(and me) who've had success it's always nice when they drop by, keeps us all going.
I've never used a clearblue monitor but i have used a persona, and it's quite normal to not ov once in a while at any age.
There are more risks for us, but there are some risks that are worth taking.
I've taken the plunge and got a couple of 'proper' tests from ebay, so a couple of days 'til they get here. They are the modern new fangled one's with words, never done one before but thought i'd treat myself. I was searching google for recomendations for the best hpt and found an article on homemade hpt's can't do links but there was one about weeing on dandelion leaves and if they get red blisters you're pregnant Hmm So you can all save £££££ and just go and have a squat in the park Wink

spotty

hippychick66 · 18/11/2010 20:36

ohh err just got a dandelion leaf stuck up my fandango!!!

louisesh · 18/11/2010 22:19

Thanks dirgeand joules. bloody spellcheck!!!! Has changed peoples names!!!

Saw our consultant today she's lovely not all results back yet.Geordies p m results not back but have found e coli and a type of strep infection from the placental swabs and this looks like the cause of Geordies death.

Double edged sword :want a reason for Georgie but on the other hand I had no signs or symptoms of an infection so how would I know if it happened again???

Started to feel very guilty that I should have known but as everyone has Bern reassuring me I did everything right and as soon as I was aware there wad a problem we went to get itchecked out.my mum said to channel my negative feelings /guilt in to getting pg again to a positive outcome.

Will have a thorough planin place for next pregnancy.had repeat swab from me today to ensure all ok now ?if I need any antibiotics now.to ring next week for results and in 2weeks for p m results.poor, poor Georgie we have no way of knowing where I contracted this infection, how long I had it and if Georgie had Bern born on her due date if she d been ok????

Soo many unaswered questions ,probably never get answers.again seems like just a massive fluke or cruel twist of fate.

Hope everyones well.on a good note still swi with a vengeance.knackered now will check in tomorrow xc

louisesh · 18/11/2010 22:23

I can spell and my grammar is not normally this bad it's this bloody iPod!!!!!

So excuse the state of the last post!!!

gumblossom · 18/11/2010 23:08

Louise, it really is a cruel twist of fate. It is certainly not your fault. Hang in the honey, and get to planning your pregnancy.

hippy, can you please stop peeing on the dandelions, I want them for my salad! And besides it won't work til your very pregnant, by which time the belly bump will be a dead giveaway!

I'm feeling pregnant. I'm feeling sick on and off and have a nasty taste in my mouth that won't budge. It always happens and I always have to eat constantly to keep the nausea and taste at bay. Which I just don't want to do as I don't want to put on too much weight...
Oh and what's with the bloating???Good Lord I look 5 months pregnant already and I know it isn't the baby or my uterus! We had DS2's high school graduation last night and finding something to wear was a nightmare. I had to settle on a very floaty, flowy top. Still felt enormous though!

Spotty, those internet cheapies are awful. Mine never got dark. In fact one morning I started crying in the toilet because I thought I must have had a chemical as the stick wasn't showing another line. 10 mins later there was a faint line. But have done First Response tests (my favourite) which are bright and obvious and getting darker than the control line! I also did a digital, and Deige I don't have anymore, so I'll save myself from the drama!
I hope I have a sticky bub. Can't wait to get to 8 weeks and have a scan.

Hippy, when will you test? I'm hoping you're coming to keep the bench warm with me.

Welcome Porth, I now ttc is stressful and at our age there are many concerns, but it is worth it. My 2 year old brings so much happiness to our family. I had a worrying 12 week scan and blood test test with him, went for amnio, but luckily had the state's best professor on the job who was able to tell from a thorough ultrasound that babes was fine. I don't know what I'll do this time, especially as the 12 week nuchal and bloods gave us a dodgy result. I always said I'd go straight to amnio, but now that I'm pregnant I don't want to do anything invasive.

I think I have to take one day at a time. It is hard not to plan and day dream and think of all the scenarios (I'm an over-thinker), but I think I really need to stick to one day at a time...Smile

spottysox · 19/11/2010 09:22

Morning all,
Hippy do make sure it's a dandelion not a thistle won't you Confused

Louise (((hugs))) again, I never know what to say. I think Gum has it right, take it all one day at a time.

Gum Symptoms sound good, not much here feel a bit more hungry, and my wee smells like sugarpuffs Hmm

Tank hows it going??

BB any new???

Diege SWI time for you soon???

Hello everyone else

Spotty

randomimposter · 19/11/2010 09:43

morning all
welcome Porth - think the phrase "numbers game" sort of sums it up.. as in inevitably the chance of a totally issue-free pregnancy continues to reduce once you are older, BUT on these boards and in RL there ARE lots of examples of older mums having successful healthy pregnancies; it might be you need to play the game more than once as it were... I've had 3MMCs in the last year, and will probably give it one or two more goes. It's just balancing out the pain and anguish of possible problems and the chance that all goes well IYSWIM. You've got to be in it to win it and all that... Hmm. Can't help on the monitor thing as have never used one. There are some tests you can have done to give an indication of remaining fertility, but as, I think, GG said, it's not neccessarily that helpful, as we know it only takes one... it's very easy and very difficult to get pregnant all rolled into one!

Hope spooty, gum and tank all doing well on that bench.

hippy you do make me larf!!

squeeze for everyone; BB haven't gone back to E yet, was going to try and get an appointment this week to maybe boost ovulation, but didn't. Will wait til next month I think. Need to make my follow-up appointment at the clinic - have you been back?

Diege · 19/11/2010 13:26

Hello Smile. Gum that's excellent news and so exciting. One day at a time is good, but do allow yourself the occasional scan through Isabella OLiver daydream Smile
Welcome porth I think Jollster's right in the sense of having to weigh up the risks against the 'prize', and that the 'balance' may well shift and change. I think all of us here have had doubts, but come the EWM we pretty much seem to pull oursleves together and give SWI our best efforts Grin
How are things Spotty? HOpefully you're reassured a bit by tales of faint cheapies as often the norm?
Louise of course not any way your fault - how could you, or indeed any one of us in your situation have known? I can understand how hard it must be now that you have some facts in.Thinking of you as always x
Hippy How are things? Have everything crossed for you this weekend Smile
LOve to everyone else - sorry not to namecheck all. Have picked up a rotton throat/chest infection from dd2 and feeling a bit bleughh...On a positive note bleeding has stopped now and have started temping again. Temps have been all over the place, but will be useful to look out for ovulation etc...

louisesh · 19/11/2010 16:41

gum glad you re feeling crap!!!let those pg crappy feelings continue xx

Glad the bleedings stopped diege.hope you can get back to it as soon as you want to.

Hi porth welcome. Shame you re here but nice to "meet" you!!!

Hi spotty,40somemum,joules and hippy

Hope you re all well?

Are there any dandelions left untouched anywhere??? Any room for me in Fridays snug? Need it had a row with dh( I know it seems to happen a lotbut we do get on as well, honest). could do with a big glass of wine, lots more chocolate and a promise all will get better. Of course , I know it will bit is so shitty at the moment.just seen a woman who lives 3 doors from us was heavily pg 3 days ago now walking around with a pram with a baby!!! Oh it's Soo easy for some Isn t it ???

Well , better pick myself up .Louise shuffles offrepeating to herselfher new mantra " this too will pass"

louisesh · 19/11/2010 16:43

Oh just re read my message I don t need dandelions I'm only on cd 13!!!

spottysox · 19/11/2010 18:34

Diege thanks yes if both you and gum say faint lines are the norm then i'll worry a smidge less, but then i've got 2 CBD's in the post and intend to visit Boots tomorrow for a FR, just to check, I'm not an addict I just like to be thorough. Hmm Hope you feel better soon.

Louise I think there's a patch of dandelions on the edge of the pavement outside the snug although Gum might have had them for her salad Smile There's wine in the fridge and chocolate in the Slanket cupboard (I hid it from Tank)

Hippy will you be squatting on the dandielions this weekend??? Watch out for the neighbours/park keeper and GOOD LUCK

Happy Friday night to everyone else
Spotty

KiwiKat · 20/11/2010 00:13

Evening all - a quick report re babe in arms.

Kiwikat, aged 44, daughter, Georgia, born at 37 weeks on 5th November. A darling little thing!

Italiangreyhound · 20/11/2010 01:28

Kiwi FABBO, congratulations, well done. An inspiration for us all. How is DH?
Louise you poor sweetheart, it must be horrible to get all those facts about our lovely little Georgie. But I am sure you will be better in the long run for finding out all you can. Please do not be hard on yourself, how could you know what was wrong. Please be nice to yourself. I agree with your mum, channel those negative thoughts into making your future baby. I don?t know if there is a charity for any of this, that could support you. There is one for some sort of Strep; it may help to get in touch with them. Ask your hospital or ask me if you can?t find out and I will look into it, but I don?t know if it is that type of Strep.

Porth Hi and welcome. I have a five-year old too, a DD, she will be five for another 5 days!

DD is 6 next week. I feel sad. I saw her wellie boots on the side today, found in a pile of old shoes - they are size 4, she had them when she was about 2. They made me smile. How lovely. I could not take them to the NCT sale. I put them on a big dolly instead!

DD said today, can we adopt a baby! She said her auntie had told her about adoption.

I got the tiniest amount of blood the other day. But no AF what is going on!

Sorry for all the people I?ve missed out, it?s late and I?m tired but I love you all (said in a slurred voice!)
Love to all. Grin
Biscuit Biscuit chocolate boobs to all.

Italiangreyhound · 20/11/2010 01:30

Hi all - aww Italian, I sort of think of Georgie as "ours" in a way (if that doesn't sound hideously inappropriate louise?). I just mean I think of her often.

louisesh · 20/11/2010 12:00

I think that's lovely for Georgie to be " ours" as she touched Soo many people I m quite happy for everyone to have , just a little bit of her. I want the biggest bit though !!!! She is Soo gorgeous , I know everyone says that about their babies but I m quite amazed we created her.

Hi jolls you sound a bit despondent today? Chin up chuck , it's gets wearing doran t it ? Never ending. We re still swi but have convinced myself I m happy not to be pg this month for many reasons mostlyto allow my body to heal and dedicate myself to Georgie.

Hi to all hope everyones well.off swimming now xx

louisesh · 20/11/2010 12:02

Oh congrats kiwikat. Good name choice!!!! Xx
