Long time lurker. Even longer Christmas lover. Here's my tree from last year. Please share photos and spread the joy of the season. I will never apologise for being a Christmas addict.

Sorry, I didn't mean to derail off topic slightly, Hannukah actually falls on Christmas Day this year which is interesting.

@Printedword As mine is artificial I miss the smell but I usually have my diffuser going non-stop to make up for it. 😊

What scent do you have in the diffuser? I'd like one this year.

And the kitchen one 😳

Lovely trees - how do you decided which presents go under each tree?

LetsDefrostMariahCarey · 05/11/2024 08:11

Really loving all the beautiful Christmas trees on the post.

Kitchen/living room tree...

I alternate colour schemes with existing ornaments on each different coloured tree each year.

Can't wait for the last weekend in November!

I got this tree from B&Q 20 years ago. It came with the decorations and lights and is still perfect after all this time 🌲

I put it on the table and tied it to the curtain rail to stop the cats from destroying it 😂

I forgot to mention lights @MenorahCandles, we have to use battery operated ones again due to the cat chewing things. Will try to weave the lights through the garlands, and we have several snowflake/tree/star lights we put in the windows using suction hooks.

Sorry you have had a bad year @MenorahCandles, and I am sorry you have friends that are worried about having a Menorah visible due to antisemitism. Hope you able to celebrate Hanukkah in the way you want to, did not realise it was the day as Christmas Day this year.

Space saving "pencil tree" as the new 3 piece suite took over the living room!

@NeedthatFridayfeeling I order a set of five different Christmassy oils from Amazon each year and mix them up a bit.

@Illjusthavethebreadsticks That's a lovely photo I'm sure we can all relate to. Tree sorted, drink ready and time to sit down and admire everything.

This was 2 years ago, it was the first time we had a real tree. I was obsessed!

Last year we had a little potted thing because of the baby and I don't know what we'll do this year with a toddler 😬

When DGS was a toddler, they all lived with me for a while. We got a little fibre optic tree and added wooden Scandi style ornaments and some little red bells from somewhere like The Range. Nothing got broken and we could hear when he was messing with the tree! Added some nursery made decorations that he brought home. I still use it as a second tree with those along with ones DGD has added although the bells and wooden decs have been upgraded. My ‘proper’ tree only had a couple of casualties before he learned I was serious about not going near it (most of the decorations on that are glass).

The tree smell differences each year are fascinating. I’m asthmatic and have hayfever. The 2023 tree was not very smelly, but the year before bothered me a bit. We are lucky enough to have a local farm that delivers and takes away for recycling for a good price.

JenniferGreenHat · 05/11/2024 10:22

Our tree is decorated very similarly to @SomeFiggyPudding but ours doesn’t look half as lovely. I’ve been trying to work out why…..I think it’s the shape of ours. We have slimline trees due to space in our old house, but actually have room now. But they were so reasonably priced (£6 I think) that we can’t justify buying new again.

I’m really enjoying this thread - all the trees look beautiful. I love how different they all are. @MrsMitford3 Your tree is amazing!!! And I’m definitely adding tinsel this year, as @LetsDefrostMariahCarey, your trees look beautiful with it. And I love your username.

Love your tree !

BookyGilly · 05/11/2024 11:07

@JenniferGreenHat Check out charity shops for second hand trees. You can get some great bargains and I'm sure Vinted and marketplace will have some. Btw, my sister and her husband were clearing out their loft last week and she removed four trees to take to the charity shop. As her husband was moaning about there being no need for so many, the doorbell rang and it was the delivery of a new tree. 😂🎄

Thanks so much! It’s a combo of sentimental/child made decorations and ones we’ve collected from places we’ve visited over the year. I get a bauble from every new place! Also hit up a local charity shop last year and for some vintage silk spun bright baubles which I was so pleased with. Two sets of multicoloured lights as you can never have enough twinkle 🎄

Fannyfiggs · 05/11/2024 12:16

@MrsMitford3 that is the most spectacular tree I've ever seen. I have tree envy 😂

MrsMitford3 · 05/11/2024 12:19

thank you! I use zillions of lights but honesty the very put of fashion lametta makes it! I must say I love seeing all the trees- everyone so different and gorgeous.

I have to van myself from buying Baileys until December…

LetsDefrostMariahCarey · 05/11/2024 13:00

@JenniferGreenHat thank you!!

Definitely add tinsel! I think it plumps out any sparse looking parts and adds sparkle, I don't mind that some people think it's out of fashion, I love it!!

It's definitely time to start defrosting Mariah, and Brenda Lee, and Mud, and Wizzard... 🎶😂🎄🎅🏻
