Long time lurker. Even longer Christmas lover. Here's my tree from last year. Please share photos and spread the joy of the season. I will never apologise for being a Christmas addict.

Here's mine this year. I'm not as happy with it as my last Tesco Christmas tree that was used for over 20 years. I've also got my box room as a Christmas room and can't find my mam's Christmas angel for the top of the tree. But my lovely sisters are coming to mine to sort out the outside decorations. I've not been well for a while. My family and neighbours think of me as Mrs Christmas. But it's a lot less this year. I'm just at this stage acknowledging my mam, who made our Christmas's wonderful. 🎄🎅

Here's my new tree 🎄

This is absolutely what a Christmas tree should look like! I love it!

ChristmasCheesecake · 11/12/2024 19:50

Fantastic trees. I’m not sure which one is my favourite, I love them all 🤗

CandlesOrangesRedribbon · 11/12/2024 21:40

All so beautiful, it's such a strange but wonderful tradition isn't it!

NellyTimes · 11/12/2024 22:00

Here's mine - always coloured lights and a mix of decorations from over the years.

I posted my tree upthread-with zillions of lights. It's about 10 strings all plugged in to multi plugs hidden by tree skirt.

I walked by it and realised the entire front and centre string was out.
I didn't panic-just thought I can always add one on top even though a pain since decorated but I wasn't going to get upset. I did crawl under and push each plug in just in case it was loose and miraculously it went back on.
Unfortunately in the process I touched the incredibly annoying button on the top and switched one of the sets to flash. Xmas Shock
So I crawled back under and managed to trace string back to pug and fix.
I am keeping the dog far from the base as I suspect she is the culprit!

You have to laugh

@MrsMitford3 You are the Christmas tree boss. Everyone on this thread (who are Christmas lovers and can't be arsed to divert a thread). But as a long time lurker who started this thread, I doff my cap to you because you have smashed it. And all our lovely people have shared their Christmas trees for us. We just need the Christmas fridge threads and us who celebrate the joy of the season can't really be arsed when the virtue signalling joy suckers try to take over the thread. This is a little corner of Mumsnet where we can all enjoy the festive season and not be shamed by the virtue signalling people who walk around with their lattes on their IPhones on YouTube while they try to think they are smashing capitalism.

Braved the storm to buy the tree. Spent 2 hours untangling the lights and stayed up far too late faffing with it. And then spent almost as long trying to take a photo.

It was worth the effort! Like your colour combo

Loobylu66 · 30/11/2024 07:08

This is mine. 98% of the decorations including the fairy were hand made by me.

Wow, you are so talented @Loobylu66!

Shoezembagsforever · 15/12/2024 01:25

Here's mine - I usually cook while the tree goes up but got involved this year!

Does anyone use the old fashioned non-led lights on their tree? I need more lights but worried they might pose a fire risk. I don't recall news of tree fires prior to leds becoming a thing though.

THANK YOU for this thread.

How lovely to get a glimpse of the humans behind the key boards and to be united by such a lovely pleasure.

Thank you also to all those who leave their curtains open at night so I can look. in the windows at the decorations.

And a special thank you to all those who decorate the outside of their houses, especially the goofy ones. In the cold, dark evenings they make me smile.

At the moment I am away from home and have no picture of our tree. I will post when I get home.

Oblomov24 · 22/12/2024 04:25

So many truely lovely trees. I haven't even put ours up yet. It's a bit basic and naff tbh.

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 22/12/2024 09:51

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie my kind of tree!

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie my kind of tree!

I like to keep it very pared back and classic.

😂😂😂

Kucinghitam · 22/12/2024 10:10

Our tree lights are on a timer so they go off overnight, but it really annoys me that the first 6?7?8? settings on the lights are various kinds of flashing/blinking. So when we come downstairs in the morning, there's a headache-inducing disco thing going on in the living room unless one of us crawls under the tree to press the button repeatedly until we get the static lights.

Why can't manufacturers make it so the default setting is static, then you can press the button to do all the fancy stuff if you want it? Or, in fact, how about tree lights whose only two settings are ON and OFF?

No such thing as a naff tree. Get it up!!! 🎄
