Long time lurker. Even longer Christmas lover. Here's my tree from last year. Please share photos and spread the joy of the season. I will never apologise for being a Christmas addict.

Some of these trees are giving 80’s/90’s vibes and I love it. That’s how our tree has always been. Can’t be dealing with a well uniformed aesthetic tree.

Me too! Your tree is fab! 🎄

These are lovely.
Last year I had a young dog and a puppy running around so had a tiny tree I could put up out of the way and a wall tree from Homebase 😄

Those are beautiful. I bought a new tree in the post-Christmas sales last year and am debating where to put the old one. I have one in my garden so I may just pop it there too. 🎄

I'm deeply envious of your 10 foot tree. It is magical. 🎄

Thanks @BookyGilly we do love the tree it’s an artificial Balsalm Hill one, our previous cat did not bother with the tree at all, but our current one is a little devil.

We will still have a lovely Christmas I am sure, we have bought two lovely garlands from M&S, one is a frosted green garland with cones, which we are gong to hang (somehow) on the wall above the fire, & a berry garland which we are gong to drape around the double door frame. I have bought some lovely artificial glittery ferns, poinsettia etc. which I am to arrange in vases with light up branches. It will still look Christmassy, but we just wanted/needed to do something different this year.

AnotherHotDrink · 04/11/2024 23:33

I love that they are all so different, it is so exciting, not long now until they go up again.

BookyGilly · 04/11/2024 23:42

@Fairnair It sounds like it will still be lovely and festive for you all and create the ambience you're aiming for.

@Printedword As mine is artificial I miss the smell but I usually have my diffuser going non-stop to make up for it. 😊

@Moier It's always lovely when children help with the tree. It makes it extra special.

The big tree is from two years ago the other tree from last year as we were actually away over Christmas so went smaller (so 5ft rather than over 7ft).
I'll be getting this years up first week of December.

Our tree last year. It is artificial and going strong for about 20 years now. Is about 8 feet tall and each year we add a few animal ornaments to the tree.

This was last years, the first year in our new little bungalow. Love Christmas especially colourful lights, we tend to go a bit mad !

Slightly crooked tree here from last year, plus obligatory dog. Our tree skirt is velvet and embroidered with our address. Decorating for Christmas (with carols on and Baileys) is my favorite day of the year.

This was last years. This year we will have a 10 month old so I'm guessing the bottom will be bare 😂🙃

Sorry you have had a stressful year. I totally get the wanting less effort/a change. Your ideas sound lovely, could you get more Christmas lights as well? I always think they make a house look so cosy and feel quite cheering (and will foil your mountaineering cat!)

We have had a shit year too and to be honest, I cannot be arsed at all. Technically mine should be much less effort than a decorated tree as we have a Menorah Smile but the DC like some Christmas decorations so I'm buying extra fairy lights and just letting them loose basically.

I feel flat about the whole thing but also have some friends who feel worried about having a visible Menorah due to anti semitism in our area, so that actually makes me more determined to make the effort out of principle! My own family's celebration/observance of festivals etc are more cultural traditions than religious these days to be honest but they still feel meaningful, and I don't want them to be silenced.

I do love looking at the Christmas tree threads though (they're almost as good as the Christmas Fridge threads! Wink)

This is such a lovely thread! Here’s mine from last year - theme is ‘chuck it on’. Fairy on top is the one from my childhood, classic 80s affair ❤️ I’ve loved looking at everyone trees! It makes me so happy 🎄❤️

Is that Kevin the carrot I see front and centre 👏👏👏👏
