Thread 6 - the one with Otis and the Christmas miracle

@Cupofteaandbiscuits and @NewtyCutey loved the happy reunited story with Otis.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@MissAnnThropeofYorkshire for the last couple of years they have reduced selected fragrances to half price on Black Friday. I’ve purchased direct from Victoria Secrets website and collected free from my local Next store.

MyFunnyLemonCritic · 24/10/2024 12:55

Does anyone have an Argos code for a £200 spend please? It would be very much appreciated ☺️

Nice one. Thank you. DDs birthday is the week before Black Friday which is so annoying. Last year it was the day after BF so I got a load of cheap stuff super last minute but I don't think that will happen this year.

Found a vinyl cleaning kit on Amazon. It was just over £6 by the time I added the voucher. Hopefully good for a stocking filler.

Do you have a link please? X

Just to say that AFAIK, the sprays B&M sell aren't Victoria's Secret. They are dupes and I think they are about £2.99

I have these - the dupes - smell lovely but don’t let as long. But great for a quick freshen up or for keeping in the car. Or even for trying a new fragrance before you splash out on the real thing.

Got these for my daughter for Christmas, think she’s going to love it.

Thanks so much for this. Mine also had an £8 voucher on the listing making it even better value :)

mumonthehill · 24/10/2024 14:09

Obsession for men down to £24.50 on amazon.

ReindeerAndChristmasCheer · 24/10/2024 14:12

@Yeknom sorry I know you’ve had loads of suggestions but I have to add National Geographic kids magazine subscription 👍

HyggeTyggeDotCom · 24/10/2024 14:14

There was an offer for Nat geo kids in one of the subscription sites, either Hearst or magazines.co.uk can’t remember which but I saw it whilst looking for one for my daughter. Both also have good rates at the moment on topcashback

Strange one but am hoping some of you lovely people can help.
I'm considering putting my tree up for the first time in 4 years (due to losing someone close at Christmas) and would really love some Danish/ Scandinavian ornaments. Can anyone recommend a budget- friendly place to order from? Thank you

@HopefulBeliever sorry for your loss, I hope you have a peaceful Christmas.

Argos/Habitat have a few nice pieces like a wooden star garland (£5 in keeping with the bargain thread) and a lovely wooden bead garland for £10.

Dunelm and B&M both have lovely Nordic/Scandi inspired decorations.

Not sure if you feel like crafting but I got a cutter and some air dry clay and made personalised baubles in 2018 and still going strong.

I know far too much about sonic figures - it's DS1's obsession and I was horrified at the amount some of the figures he wanted to buy were considering they were secondhand. It's his dream to walk in to a charity shop and find a bundle of Sonic Jazwares but I don't see it happening😂

Honestly I've never heard of Jazwares! I didn't realise how collectible they are until this thread!

Keekabooyou · 24/10/2024 15:52

@ImTheMidsomerMurderer i could use it 😁 just about to buy my daughter some Xmas trainers. Thanks
