Thread 6 - the one with Otis and the Christmas miracle

Reastie · 18/10/2024 12:51

@Cupofteaandbiscuits and @NewtyCutey loved the happy reunited story with Otis.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Thanks for the new thread! Is anyone else a little disappointed in the solace mystery bundle? I bought 3 sets expecting there to be a couple of duplicates but instead I have ended up with 3 exactly the same of each. Very good value though and good quality.

I bought a single kids bundle and was quite disappointed, the small crystal style earrings are so small I feel like they would get lost in the ear. Also, I find it really odd to include a hoop style earring in a children's set, so I won't be using those either.

I think my daughter will enjoy the Bee earrings, but that means I've spent £10 for a single pair of earrings! But I guess that's the chance you take with a mystery bundle, isn't it.

Another day another request from nephews for family secret Santa - this time older nephew wanting a Liverpool 22/23 kit, I vaguely remember a few threads back there was mention of a bargain football kit site if anyone can remember the link and/or have ordered from somewhere else and can recommend? Lowest I can see is £45 on sports direct 😭 other nephew we have for DWs kids Secret Santa is coming up to 9, asked for us to surprise him, he is obsessed with football too but trying to think of something a bit out of the box? Thanks wonderful Xmas MN’s - Due DD2 any day now so trying to get prepared early and I think I would literally have lost the plot this year if it wasn’t for these threads 🫣🤣🤣

Try soccer04. Pretty sure they're not legit kits but apparently exactly like the real McCoy (I've not ordered from them yet but I intend to)

IggyAce · 18/10/2024 15:22

Thanks for the new thread, lovely title.

£21 for this Clarins shower set, allegedly worth £80

That's not bad value actually > sits on hands as don't need it for a gift and I am drowning in products enabled by these threads Grin <

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 18/10/2024 15:27

Ahhh yes just got the same message. Thankfully Grin

@mamaK19
Footballsbest4u is the site we have used for football kits. Really happy with quality but need about 3 weeks for delivery

@MammaRoly How is the sizing on these kits please? Wondering whether to size up?

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 18/10/2024 15:32

@MamaK19 what size do you need in the liverpool 22/23 ? Also home or away?

Soccerbox have the red 22/23 shirt in youths age 8-10 or the kit in kids 4-5 and 6-7

TheRedheadMummy · 18/10/2024 15:38

Some good deals on studio. I’ve picked up a few nice bits the last month and all have been received.. these are perfect ready for the summer :)

@JulietSierra Soccer04 advise sizing up so I'd guess they're all the same.

VeruccaSalty · 18/10/2024 16:30

Gul cancelled my wetsuit but are still sending the little other things I ordered, annoying because the wetsuit was only reason I made the order and paid the 5.99 postage

NotAdultingToday · 18/10/2024 16:30

@Ilovepugs2017 if you pm me ill send it to you cause im on the app 😊

Gustavo1 · 18/10/2024 16:33

Morrisons had some lonely wooden kitchen toys including a tool belt and a beauty belt at £10 each. Dry similar to the sell out Aldi stuff.
Also a little wooden kitchen for £35 🎅🏻

Has he got an indoor hover football? My eldest ds loves his. Or a smartball indoor soccer bot or an outdoor talking football?

fluffytail · 18/10/2024 16:43

@44PumpLane re the solace earrings.. yes, I totally agree - it's definitely the risk you take that you might not like the earrings but I was surprised to get three sets exactly the same.

@Nearlyadoctor I think the offer has ended but if you (or anyone else) would like one of my mystery sets for £10, I'd happily cover the postage.

I think it’s now soccer04 (was soccer03) where you can get cheaper football kits.

allow for a long delivery time though

The kits are from the same factory that make the real kits so you honestly can’t tell the difference, the quality of the kits is very good. Just quite long delivery times and you don’t really get any updates once the order’s placed.

just FYI the retro kits come up smaller than their normal kits. We normally order size 24 for my son and they fit fine but the retro kits are slightly too small in a 24.

Cos1970 · 18/10/2024 16:59

@MamaK19 we got our son personalised shin pads last year. We used a photo of him in his local team’s football kit, he loved them
