Thread 3 - The one with the Grim Giftsets

Reastie · 29/09/2024 19:15

Thanks to @SpottyBumPony for giving us such a grim code Xmas Grin

I've spent the afternoon going through the Christmas list and feeling very overwhelmed about how much to get and how much it'll all cost. I need to get control and organised.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I’ve just bought some of the Kew garden seeds reduced from Thompson and Morgan to go with the gardening book, they start at 89p in the sale and are £4 a pack from Kew. Some of the designs are so beautiful too!

I’m not sure if this will work for others but I used order code TM_TN5260W from an email they sent for free delivery on all seeds.

Code worked for me. Thank you for this idea @Streetcornerchoir - I've just ordered a lovely stash!

Summerdew · 01/10/2024 13:16

Thanks @ShinyPrettyThings87 I wonder if they are checking against actual EE customer numbers as it is in stock on the website.

Has anyone else had their Benefit mascara cancelled? I’ve just had an email.

Mine arrived yesterday and I'm not an EE customer

Mine was delivered yesterday too but I ordered very early on.

Blessedbethefruitz · 01/10/2024 13:23

@issantahereyet Mine both love a tea party in the bath at 2 and 5? Plastic tea set?

Iluvchristmasbargains · 01/10/2024 13:25

Just noticed that The Body Shop have 20% off pretty much everything. I’m doing a DIY advent for my daughter this year, making it a combo of sweet treats & beauty, so got a couple of things I know she’ll use. Doesn’t say how long the offer is on for though.

Summerdew · 01/10/2024 13:25

Just me then! Ah well not meant to be - glad others got it, such a bargain!

Has anyone got any suggestions for good quality/fun bath toys for a 2 year old please? Out of everything we've had, the only things still standing are the suction cup gears. He particularly loves bath crayons but they keep snapping 😩 so would be extra extra grateful for good quality crayons!

Janod Shrimp Catcher
Tea Set
Barista/Ice cream maker (think it’s fisher price)
Some of the playmobil bath stuff is decent too (depends if an older 2 year old or not)
Aldi also have some good Duplo bath toys in

GentlemanJack · 01/10/2024 13:33

I received my catalogue from Postscript books this morning. (You can buy online but I like browsing from the catalogue)
Some beautiful gifts and of course books at very good prices. I'm ordering a lovely set of 10 Monet design gift boxes at £19.99. A bargain I think to make a nice gift very impressive. I always seen to find something a bit "different" from here and the cs is excellent. I've ordered from Postscript for years and I can recommend.

I think 20% off is on permanently from what I've noticed (I've checked weekly for the past few months for an item that's often out of stock)

Stupid thing is, 20% off now doesn't seem like a bargain to me now as it seems 'normal' They used to regularly have 40% off sales, but obviously that was before administration and being acquired by Aurea.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 01/10/2024 13:39

@Summerdew mine got cancelled too.

MaybeItsJustTimeToStop · 01/10/2024 13:52

@issantahereyet barbie and chelsea mermaids have held up really well here being played with in the bath, also stacking cups with different holes in the bottom have lasted 3 years, i think theyre nuby ones.

gaggiagirl · 01/10/2024 13:54

Don't know if it's already been posted but went to B&M today and they had lots of squishmallows half price. The absolute giant ones (pillow sized?) were £10 the mid sized were £5and they had the large ones available to purchase vacuum packed so they were flat and would be easy to store and hide.

tabbycat985 · 01/10/2024 13:56

Found a couple of bargains this morning

Marinette figure £9.10
amzn.eu/d/24N0MCj

These slushie cups were popular a few years back £6.50
amzn.eu/d/ih6aeuA

Very still have lots of the Melissa & Doug toys reduced including the play food!

& H&M have a sale on!

My little girl has the bath barista by tomy rookies I got it for her about 6 months ago and it was a right hit, she still plays with it every bath time - definitely recommend

My kids adore this, used from about 2 years old, now 3.5. (My seven year old loves it too!)

Was shopping in Poundland earlier and spotted a few bits that maybe useful:
Terrys chocolate orange hot chocolate bomb, great for Christmas Eve box or a hot chocolate hamper.
I don’t remember who was wanting barbie clothes on an earlier thread but they had some great accessory packs that’s who be perfect stocking fillers.

Benefit order also cancelled but why does their email look like it's from a scammer 😂

Ah, not a bargain then! It’s not a shop that I use, so wouldn’t know what was normal, to be honest!

Londonmummy66 · 01/10/2024 14:28

Thank you @Streetcornerchoir - code worked for me - I was thinking this morning that I needed to order my winter greens and delivery charges for seeds are often painful....

WimbyAce · 01/10/2024 14:35

Had a Simba squishmallow in my amazon basket. Reduced today to £7.99, lowest I have seen it. Says expected delivery 26th October. Other Lion King squishmallows reduced too.
