Thanks to @SpottyBumPony for giving us such a grim code Xmas Grin

I've spent the afternoon going through the Christmas list and feeling very overwhelmed about how much to get and how much it'll all cost. I need to get control and organised.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Does anyone know if there’s usually any good deals on Nintendo switches?

Cex are good and they come with two years warranty. If you don’t mind second hand of course

A bit niche but dies anyone have a recommendation for a burger weight? As in to push it down whilst cooking? My husband has asked for one and I've no idea!

We have one, I think it’s pro cook. It makes the best cheese toasties. I put it directly on a hob to heat whilst the frying pan is heating. Put the sandwich in then squish with the hot weight.

back to burgers though, you can get cheese melting domes as well.

I've just been introduced to these crochet figures. They have all sorts of animals/veggie they come with a little card. Cute stocking fillers
My DD has requested the potato & penguin. I believe there's a duck too

DD bought me two positive potatoes last Christmas. I can confirm they were very well received by me. Cute as buttons!

You can buy these much cheaper from Temu or AliExpress ( which is probably where these came from) and you have time for them to arrive too.

I've just ordered for my daughter.

A couple of threads back, someone posted a deal for heated blankets. I suspect I've missed it by a long shot, but I'd be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction.

hby9628 · 01/10/2024 10:20

@ZIGGY911 oh wow good spot. There's loads of different ones on ali express!

RudolphsDashing · 01/10/2024 10:25

@christmasfish that was on Boots but the offer has finished, not seen any other offers since (I've been looking out for another). Sure there'll be Black Friday ones though, I got my gorgeous Dreamland one for half price.

Can anyone recommend the best place to get the scentos scented colouring pencils? Tried in my local Asda and Amazon and they don’t have the ones I’m after for DD

Tesco's had them in when I was there a few days ago

ClaraLane · 01/10/2024 10:48

Thanks for the tiny crochet tip, they’re so cute! One of them not quite like the others though…

That’s going in my teenagers stocking. 😆

There's a poo one which is quite good too. Would have been perfect for my friend who recently started a new job. Just wish I had seen it in time.

@Mew2 @Chillisintheair with regards Hama beads and the IKEA dupes, it's very rare that I don't sing the praises of the IKEA versions of things, but in this case I do have to say that I would recommend branded Hama over IKEA beads.

The Hama branded beads are slightly thicker and all very uniform in height, whereas the IKEA ones are very hit or miss!

We got the IKEA beads and then have had a few Hama sets and the Hama sets are significantly better quality and therefore iron and fuse significantly better than the IKEA ones.

The boards are fine, it's just the IKEA beads that I wouldn't recommend.

I’ve just bought some of the Kew garden seeds reduced from Thompson and Morgan to go with the gardening book, they start at 89p in the sale and are £4 a pack from Kew. Some of the designs are so beautiful too!

I’m not sure if this will work for others but I used order code TM_TN5260W from an email they sent for free delivery on all seeds.

Has anyone got any suggestions for good quality/fun bath toys for a 2 year old please? Out of everything we've had, the only things still standing are the suction cup gears. He particularly loves bath crayons but they keep snapping 😩 so would be extra extra grateful for good quality crayons!

Summerdew · 01/10/2024 13:09

Has anyone else had their Benefit mascara cancelled? I’ve just had an email.

Forgot to add, I know bath paints are a thing also but he's pretty prone to eczema flare ups so not sure if they'd be a good idea 😕

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 01/10/2024 13:14

Mine was delivered yesterday @Summerdew

LadyPene · 01/10/2024 13:15

@Mew2 the year Hama beads were on our list I focused on getting the boards we wanted, and then picked up a massive barely touched part used pot of beads second hand. I agree Hama brand is worth getting for these.
