Thread 3 - The one with the Grim Giftsets

Thanks to @SpottyBumPony for giving us such a grim code Xmas Grin

I've spent the afternoon going through the Christmas list and feeling very overwhelmed about how much to get and how much it'll all cost. I need to get control and organised.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I managed to get a gorgeous Santa Oodie type thing for DS age 5, in Next outlet in Cheshire Oaks on Sunday - bargain at £7.50.

I'm now looking for something similarly cuddly/warm for DS aged 9 for his "December 1st box" if anyone has any bargainous recommendations?

Also I'm looking at the Air toobz which seem very expensive at £120 - has anyone had these and can vouch for them being amazing? I think my younger sons would enjoy them but the price is putting me off!

Attached is the toy dates

Could I ask, what is the voucher event? I’ve never heard of this!

The Thermanote printer looks good. Does anyone know how long the images last pls?

I’ve purchased 2 so far. 1 was a b’day gift a few months ago for my daughters friend in uni she raves about the quality. Apparently it’s clear stickers that she can add to her work book.

she said she prefers the plain background to the colour rolls.
I did have cause to contact their customer service and they were very responsive and sorted my query very quickly.

better customer service than white fox <don’t get me started on their shite customer service>

Has anyone seen a deal on a changing robe for kids? I was planning to get them from regatta with the 8.5% on TCB but they're all gone!

I got our regatta ones from a website called run Charlie for £28. They have some colours left but not all of them. Run Charlie

Openmouthinsertfood · 30/09/2024 22:01

20% of site wide at everything5pounds with the code: EVERYTHING20
(Clothing.)

TherebytheGraceofGodgoI · 30/09/2024 22:04

@Rescue2024 They look fab for students and was thinking of getting one for DS, but they’re not printed, they use heat sensitive paper so I was wondering if they would fade after a while just like till receipts.
Be just his luck to go to revise and the image has gone!

Monpetitchoumonpetitepois · 30/09/2024 22:05

Tesco have a dry robe dupe and they currently have 25% off all clothing. Not sure on sizing or quality though

I had the same question, from money saving central:

The Smyths Toys Voucher Code event is usually online and in-store. It works out a good 20% off essentially, it includes almost everything apart from video consoles and games and takes £10 off for each and every £50 that you spend so spend £100 get £20 off, spend £150 get £30 and so on.

I don't think it has anything to do with actual vouchers.

I loved the birthday card book idea and I’ve just seen if you shop on the busyb website rather than Amazon, they have a few styles reduced to £7.99. There’s also a 10% signing up to newsletter discount.

Thank you so much. I’ve just bought 4 - one for me and 3 as presents!

bizzey · 01/10/2024 00:26

The birthday books are a fabulous idea ...
My problem is ...
I know what month everyone 's birthday is in and the date....
I just can't remember what actual month I am in at the moment ! 😂..

bizzey · 01/10/2024 00:29

Officially into a new month right now....
But I am still in July in my head !!

Can anyone recommend the best place to get the scentos scented colouring pencils? Tried in my local Asda and Amazon and they don’t have the ones I’m after for DD

Does it have to be that brand? I picked up a pack of scented colour pencils and pens in Tesco the other day. Not sure of the brand and have binned the box but the pencils have pictures of their 'scents' on them.

Ceejadess · 01/10/2024 04:22

@Ilovepugs2017 Smyths have a good range

I got a birthday book from Clintons around 20-25 years ago which is still going strong! It’s great as I can stock up on cards for the year and it makes storing and finding cards easy.

Nestnearlyempty · 01/10/2024 09:08
