Thread 3 - The one with the Grim Giftsets

Reastie · 29/09/2024 19:15

Thanks to @SpottyBumPony for giving us such a grim code Xmas Grin

I've spent the afternoon going through the Christmas list and feeling very overwhelmed about how much to get and how much it'll all cost. I need to get control and organised.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@lingmerth I've had some really nice, reasonably priced, glass mugs from Asda.

There is likely to be a big Elemis bundle on QVC before Christmas.

Anyone any idea when, love the Elemis prices on qvc

Debtfreeme · 03/10/2024 23:24

Anyone see any decent price on Lego flowers? I have blue light but still seems expensive

HoffiCoffii · 03/10/2024 23:29

I'm going into town tomorrow. Very rarely go in-person shopping, what shops do I need to visit for bargains on the high street?

Lego for £250????? 😱😱

I'm so glad mine were never into this!

My DH is still into it, and trust me you can pay more than double that for a set! There are worse things as a hobby though I suppose!

IlovePond · 03/10/2024 23:51

@lingmerth - Lidl were selling hot/cold glasses recently, of different shapes/sizes. My local had a few still knocking around last week.

B & M have a few sets 2 for £20

Sun flowers
Roses
Daffodils
And tulips

All actual Lego

djfjfj · 03/10/2024 23:52

John Lewis have the bouquet of roses for £39 instead of £55. Argos have it for £41. At least they did when I looked yesterday. My DD has this on her wish list.

Which set? The Lego flowers sets sometimes get randomly reduced to around £35. I absolutely love mine (I have most of the botanicals, not the roses though as they didn't call to me) The wildflower bouquet is my favourite. The bird of paradise was expensive but dramatic though I think it's retired now so either silly money or second hand. I really like the cherry blossoms for a cheap set and the orchid looks most real from a distance imo. I'm hoping for the plum blossom for Christmas. Lego is a huge thing in our house for adults and kid alike!

Just looked and the roses are £39.99 on Amazon.

Everybodysaycheese · 04/10/2024 01:07

Thanks for the Tamagotchi Uni heads up. Just got one for DD - that's a great price!

Anyone seen any sundae kits with the proper glass and spoon? I can get a kit with paper cups but I haven't seen any with the glasses anywhere.

I saw them in b+m a little while ago. Not sure if it included the spoon but had the glass and some Tate and Lyle sauce. Green box.

Alongthepineconetrail · 04/10/2024 04:34

Cult beauty has some deals on sol de janeiro and other brands using the code FIRST15 for 15% off or CBAFF for 20% off. I don't know if they both stack together.

Edited

We have many of these sets and DD wants the roses as she’s already had all of the others (original bouquet, wildflower, orchids as well as all of the the smaller sets). They look great.

Smyths toys £5 over £50 & £10 over £100 discount is now live & automatically applies at checkout.

Just ordered the Lego set for my daughter’s main present which was already on sale there.

Yes- they sell these in b and m! I have seen 2 different styles (I want to say Nutella and millions?) Comes with a long spoon and either Nutella sauce packets or millions packets for about £8ish pound- could be less x

Probably November. It’s not looking like it’s coming in October from the list I can see.

Anyone else noticed that there’s no offer for feel Good Friday on the Vodafone app today?

There isn’t any on mine either, although currently in a ‘dispute’ with Vodafone so thought it might just be me 🙄

you can call me a cynic

if shops are having a big sale (Black Friday for instance) doesn’t the item need to be at the original price for x weeks before the sale takes place?
or some rule like that

JulietSierra · 04/10/2024 07:40

Topcashback has their £2 bonus offer on today. Make sure you activate the offer (on the moving banner on the home page) and then just spend over £10 to get an extra £2 cash back!

nearlylovemyusername · 04/10/2024 07:40

Boots still run 20% of premium beauty (No7, Elemis, Sol De Janeiro, you name it) plus 10% off £60 or 15% off £100 spend.
On the top of it TCB has £2 global cashback
