Thread 3 - The one with the Grim Giftsets

Reastie · 29/09/2024 19:15

Thanks to @SpottyBumPony for giving us such a grim code Xmas Grin

I've spent the afternoon going through the Christmas list and feeling very overwhelmed about how much to get and how much it'll all cost. I need to get control and organised.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Sorry for the slightly late request - I think here is where I have the most chance of finding the right thing! My littlest saw a toy dog in the tesco toy sale, it was in one of those open boxes. I think it was brown, and it might have been a sausage dog.
She's obsessed, and searches for it in tesco but it's not there anymore.

Did anyone take photos in the toy sale and can spot anything matching that vague description?

ChristmasMad1 · 03/10/2024 11:52

Anyone had their Gruum order come through yet? I can't log into my account to see the shipping details and not had a dispatch email yet.

IlovePond · 03/10/2024 11:55

Was it this @WideFootWelly ?

For some reason the picture won’t copy. Will keep trying

IlovePond · 03/10/2024 12:01

@WideFootWelly

I found a stretchy daschund £4.40 from Tesco by googling your description. However, for some reason it won’t copy to MN.

If you put my search parameters into Google and click on IMAGES, maybe you’ll get the same picture!

Thank you. I should have specified that its fluffy.
It's possible that it does something...walks/barks etc. But it might not. In her little head it sleeps, and runs - tbh, she just wants a real dog. But this is the one that's on the list. No idea why I didn't sneak back and buy it.

VeruccaSalty · 03/10/2024 12:08

Waggles the dog? Be warned, I bought my son this after much begging and he lost interest after about an hour.

Tesco toys are now 'The Entertainer' store.

Have a look here to see if you can spot it:

Good luck :) your little one sounds adorable - I hope they get their doggy!

Would it have been in the tesco sale?

Just a reminder to not forget charity shops! Dropped a bag off at Barnardos this morning and they had brand new boxed kids against humanity card game for £1 . There were about a dozen of them, so may be in other stores too. I haven't anyone to purchase for but thought I'd pass on the tip for others!

Thank you, there's one in here that could be right. I've taken screen shots and will see if she can tell me which it is.

I'm impressed at the speed its potentially been found!

Would anyone use a naked wines voucher? £75 off when you spend £134.99 or more. I had it with my grumm order but I don’t drink alcohol 🍷

Yes please, if you don't mind!

okayhescereal · 03/10/2024 12:22

@WideFootWelly @DamitJamit was just about to send the same link.

We have one of the Pitter Patter Pets, think the cockapoo one... was a birthday gift from a...ahem...'friend!'. 😂 It's currently buried at the back of DD's dressing up cupboard and if that doesn't work I might resort to taking the batteries out 😅 She wants to bring it with us on walks...which reduces our speed to that of a geriatric earthworm!

Every kid who comes over blooming loves it though, and do seem to still be on sale atm!

ChristmasFanatic · 03/10/2024 12:26

Is that the new BBC christmas day film?

I know it's a bit niche but for star wars fans, Lego C3P0 is currently £99 on a amazon
(£124 usually)

We already have something so similar that's annoying (also farts) and some other fluffy one that belonged to my eldest and I managed to get rid of - they'd turn it on and leave it, it just kept going until you turned it off.

Did anyone order the 5 items for £10 IWOOT offer? I know there have been issues in the past but they had lots of items ideal for my DS so I took the chance. They’ve taken the money minus £1.50 so now I’m wondering what is going to be missing! I’ll be annoyed if they’ve taken more than item off. No sign of an email to say what’s going on and payment was taken earlier this week!

GPNightmare · 03/10/2024 13:04

okayhescereal · 03/10/2024 09:41

We were gifted one of these when DS turned 4. Have had it 2 years and it's standing up to the rough treatment very well.

@ShangPie I was going to suggest flikflak too. We have one in the family that has served several DC and 2 generations during the learning to tell time years 😂 A somewhat unconventional “heirloom” 😂
