Thread 3 - The one with the Grim Giftsets

Thanks to @SpottyBumPony for giving us such a grim code Xmas Grin

I've spent the afternoon going through the Christmas list and feeling very overwhelmed about how much to get and how much it'll all cost. I need to get control and organised.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good watch for a 5yo boy?

He’s learning to tell the time and I think he’d really like one to feel all grown up. Preferably not a giant hunk of plastic that will smash in a week!

We were gifted one of these when DS turned 4. Have had it 2 years and it's standing up to the rough treatment very well.

Had an email from Claire’s this morning with a code for extra 40% off everything with the code FUN40

Those of you that have a Birthday card organiser, is it big enough to handle multiple cards per month, every month?

I'd like to gift a couple, and get one for myself, but we have a big family so want it to be fit for purpose!

In case anybody is interested I ordered the secret sale beauty box. I need to do two mid twenties girl stockings. I’m not sure that I would order it again!

I've had a text from Next, £10 off a £25 spend, thinking of their beauty boxes, they look good

chinupoldchap · 03/10/2024 10:40

Is it a generic code or individual?

Having ignored all the brilliant bath bomb bargains to date, because none of us use them, naturally DD tried one today and has declared they are the best things ever.

Any bargainous ones that either have something hidden inside, turn the water a different colour, or general unicorn glittery stuff?

My boys LOVE a bath bomb. I've got these in my Amazon basket and am watching to see if the price drops any more https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09ZJ5B4H4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&th=1

Thank you!

So girls in love series are still relevant?

Do people still read Judy Blume?!

I volunteer to hear children read in school.
Currently reading Cherry Crush: The Chocolate Box Girls by Cathy Cassidy with one of my readers (Year 6). She seems to be enjoying this.

PaintMeARiver · 03/10/2024 11:18

Anyone seen any sundae kits with the proper glass and spoon? I can get a kit with paper cups but I haven't seen any with the glasses anywhere.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 03/10/2024 11:23

Saw this in my Sainsbury's this am in the tea aisle ... may be a nice cheap alternative to a tea advent?

For anyone who bought the £2 gardening book, and are looking for things to go with it, Dibor have a lot of outdoor and garden items in their sale section. They also have some lovely christmas stockings and deorations too:

IlovePond · 03/10/2024 11:25

Hi,

10% off the Ted Baker advent calendar at Boots brings it down to £41.40. It’s such a pretty tin, and this might be the last time we see TB products as they’ve gone bust.

Nestnearlyempty · 03/10/2024 11:28

Neom pod was on QVC special value at the weekend …

Ilovepugs2017 · 03/10/2024 11:31

Would anyone use a naked wines voucher? £75 off when you spend £134.99 or more. I had it with my grumm order but I don’t drink alcohol 🍷

Wigglewoowoo · 03/10/2024 11:31

Does anyone have any bargains for thermals. Need to purchase for teens/adults for a snow/cold trip.

Christmasdreaming · 03/10/2024 11:31

B&m do the glass sundae glasses in a gift set, I think they are about £8 with some toppings and a spoon

just make sure you check the dates as they sometimes also have them in for the summer

my dc got them last year and were really pleased - from memory they were Nutella, kinder, biscoff or a pick n mix sweet one

specialsen · 03/10/2024 11:32

If anyone has children wanting the latest little live pets dog in a cage it's been reduced on Amazon today, was £60 now £48.

mumonthehill · 03/10/2024 11:43

@Wigglewoowoo mountain warehouse has some in their sale.
