Thread 3 - The one with the Grim Giftsets

Reastie · 29/09/2024 19:15

Thanks to @SpottyBumPony for giving us such a grim code Xmas Grin

I've spent the afternoon going through the Christmas list and feeling very overwhelmed about how much to get and how much it'll all cost. I need to get control and organised.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Hi everyone! I want to get some books for my niece’s 11th birthday but I’m absolutely lost.

I don’t think The Babysitters Club or sweet valley high are still where it’s at…

The wild robot trilogy by Peter Brown was really enjoyed here - and Peanut jones series by rob bidulph

Has anyone ever had a Plouise budget box? They seem to one off or monthly subscriptions like glossy box for £30

No but....if you are by any chance near enough to go through to their shop/cafe, it's well worth it. Food was beautiful and well priced, and the deals on their stuff were so much cheaper than online. Was about an hour away for us and was worth it. My daughter loved it!

BadgerFace · 03/10/2024 06:31

Are White Fox likely to have a sale for Black Friday? I asked my tween if she wanted one for Christmas when the last sale was on, got a no answer, and then last night she came home from school asking for one! Aaargh! Should have gone with my instincts that by Christmas year 7 would be talking about White Fox!!

hby9628 · 03/10/2024 06:59

@BadgerFace yes I think they will. Have you got the app? Download it for info on the offers. The only thing is that I think people who ordered on black Friday didn't all get their orders. I think they did an earlier on too though

Ilovepugs2017 · 03/10/2024 07:15

Has anyone received their grumm/whistlefish orders yet? I had a dispatch confirmation from grumm but no dispatch info from whistlefish as yet

Impatientwino · 03/10/2024 07:21

On White Fox and dispatch times - I'm on their mailing list and they emailed a while ago to say they now are operating and dispatching from the UK as well so that should help!

Yes the one I got was well worth it, set of lashes, eyeshadow palette, and eye liners in a giftable box plus a liquid lipstick palette, a box of 10 or so lipliners and eyeshadow base. But I feel last time it was eyebrows so about 5 different things for your brows all in different colours. Which maybe not so giftable!

As others have said, White Fox now have a UK presence - I ordered from there recently and it came within a week, so hopefully Black Friday will be plenty of time for Xmas.

Anyone with a M&S sparks card might want to check their offers. My card has 20% off beauty just now. This stacks with a Neom free gift offer. I have just bought 2 gift sets - moment of calm and perfect nights sleep - priced at £24 each and a Christmas Wish travel candle which is normally £20. Total price was £35.20 rather than £64. Free click and collect to store too.

Be aware that minalima are not doing any more of the Harry Potter books. Apparently a new illustrator will take over for Goblet of Fire. Not sure if they will be as good as the MinaLima ones. Gutted as I wanted the full set.

Noooooooooooo 😭😭😭

Ahhh I didn’t get this! Never seem to have any good offers on there. I need to buy the neom well being diffuser as a present and am looking g for any way of getting a bit of a discount if anyone sees one!

Got Whistlefish delivery, it was about 5 days..also Gruum despatch notification.

IlovePond · 03/10/2024 08:47

@tootsnwoocake thanks for the heads up re:Sparks. I have just checked my offers and I am so fed up mine - I keep getting 10% off sandwiches and salads, etc. This is despite fact that I NEVER buy these in Marks!

JL beauty advent calendar is out today, btw. I think the £10 reward voucher that some people have atm might work with it.

IlovePond · 03/10/2024 08:48

@Firsttimeposter121 -Neom sometimes have good deals on their site, so it’s worth signing up. Allbeauty had some great reductions on Neom recently, (ended now), but worth lurking on that site too as they do have some good deals from time to time.

ShangPie · 03/10/2024 08:50

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good watch for a 5yo boy?

He’s learning to tell the time and I think he’d really like one to feel all grown up. Preferably not a giant hunk of plastic that will smash in a week!

IlovePond · 03/10/2024 08:57

Hi,

Lands End have 30% off atm with: H2VE

RaspberryTreehouse · 03/10/2024 09:09

No idea if this is any use, but I feel like I’ve just had quite a few bargains from Rinkit.com , not traditional stocking fillers as such, but house and garden bits I picked up in the sale.

CHRISTMASTIME123 · 03/10/2024 09:31

Argos has 2 for £20 on some lego sets that are usually £18 each

Airysairy · 03/10/2024 09:40

Thank you very much to those who mentioned the animal tracking bracelets with Fahlo - a brilliant gift idea for a few people on my list.

There is 20% off with the code TRACK20.
