Thread 3 - The one with the Grim Giftsets

Reastie · 29/09/2024 19:15

Thanks to @SpottyBumPony for giving us such a grim code Xmas Grin

I've spent the afternoon going through the Christmas list and feeling very overwhelmed about how much to get and how much it'll all cost. I need to get control and organised.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@Ilovepugs2017 ** thank you!

LePetitMaman · 02/10/2024 21:16

Having ignored all the brilliant bath bomb bargains to date, because none of us use them, naturally DD tried one today and has declared they are the best things ever.

Any bargainous ones that either have something hidden inside, turn the water a different colour, or general unicorn glittery stuff?

Ilovepugs2017 · 02/10/2024 20:49

These are great for little ones! 50% voucher on Amazon which brings it down to £3 delivered. Available in pink or blue

Just bought thanks!! x

Clucket87 · 02/10/2024 21:20

Has anybody used Secret Sales?
If so, what has the service and quality been like?
Thank you. X

For anyone near Eastbourne, there is a new Smyths store opening mid October. If you go onto their website and click ‘events’ on the menu, scroll down to the advert for the new store and clink on the ‘exclusive voucher link’ which is £6 off a £15 spend- to be used in the new Eastbourne store only.

Hope that helps someone!

B&M usually do a few with a hidden clear plastic shape (eg a diamond) that flashes different coloured lights when the bomb has dissolved. I always find it in the stocking fillers aisle.

I haven't RTFT but SPEEDY gives an extra 20% off sale items at ASOS

Ooooh marvellous! I'm going to look for the HP colour hot chocolate so I'll have a wander round.

I’ve used them a few times and they’ve always been fine for me. The items might come through different suppliers but they arrive quickly. You have to pay £3.50 for returns at the post office (can’t remember who else can return) but you can link the returns altogether so you only have to pay once. I usually get the kids their hoodies from there but I’ve had a few other items like trainers and a coat and I’ve had some decent wear out of them.

bizzey · 02/10/2024 21:33

@Clucket87 ...I have !
Following from some recommendations from this thread .

I ordered 3 items on Sunday and they arrived today

2 X perfume in proper packaging..and a lovely lip thing !

Very happy and would use them again .

GPNightmare · 02/10/2024 21:33

@LePetitMaman Primark is also good for cute bath bombs for £1.50ish each. They don’t have the Christmas ones in yet but they have lots of things like rainbows and unicorns.

hby9628 · 02/10/2024 21:33

@Georgieporgie29 my DD has had the watermelon which she liked. Don't think she's tried any others

Clucket87 · 02/10/2024 21:34

@WomanOfSteel thank you.
It's for a fleece or 2 for the husband's birthday that are coming in cheaper than Blacks or Mountain Warehouse.
I will start having a good look. Xx

Clucket87 · 02/10/2024 21:36

@bizzey you just spoke my language with perfume!
I love the stuff and I am really hoping to find one of those Lancôme deals some of us managed to get last year. That perfume went down amazingly well with my family and saved me a small fortune! Xx

bizzey · 02/10/2024 21:42

@Reastie no no no !!!

Clicked wrong thing /person ....now I can't get rid of you 🤦‍♀️😃😃😂😂🥰!

bizzey · 02/10/2024 21:43

@Clucket87 ...OHS had some good deals on..

I have got some things in my basket there 🤦‍♀️😂

LePetitMaman · 02/10/2024 21:55

Also, don't want to rain on many parades...but have just googled the HP colour changing hot choc. Watched the video. And won't be buying having now seen it. Sorry 😐

YeahWellWhyNot · 02/10/2024 21:55

😂 @bizzey why does it do that

Thelifeofawife · 02/10/2024 22:13

Thank you to the PP who shared the Whistlefish deals. I’ve just opened my delivery of birthday cards, Christmas cards and wrapping paper, and they are truly lovely and such fantastic quality! I’ll definitely be ordering from them again

Cherandcheralike · 02/10/2024 22:15

I got an Amazon warehouse one this week, even cheaper and I can't see how it has been used. Well worth clicking on the other sellers.

They had a few other mina lima titles on offer inc. secret garden and jungle book.

Blessedbethefruitz · 02/10/2024 22:43

Has anyone come across any bargain whiskey gifts? Taster sets maybe, of bourbon or single malt (not blended)? Dp is easily pleased but I like to make the effort!

There's a Baff Bombz value pack on Amazon, mine just came in a plain thick cardboard box but they work out just over 56p each & produce a strong colour

Impatientwino · 02/10/2024 23:13

The Spicery have their cookbook and spice gift sets as 33% off this month. I bought one of the mezze kits last year for DH and it was brilliant. Just bought two more for friends and discovered that the code SPICEBOX10 took another 10% off and free delivery too! (I bought two kits)
