Thread 3 - The one with the Grim Giftsets

Thanks to @SpottyBumPony for giving us such a grim code Xmas Grin

I've spent the afternoon going through the Christmas list and feeling very overwhelmed about how much to get and how much it'll all cost. I need to get control and organised.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@okayhescereal ...yaaay for hot chocolate saving the day ! 😂.
That looks just what I am after ...

Unfortunately...no B&M near me in London !

But ...I now know the sort of thing I am looking for .
Thank you.

Ah I was going to suggest the same thing as PP

Boots have these at £6 if they're any good? Unfortunately not as many as the B&M set though

@TheGriffle Can I ask how you found the quality of the oodies from there please? Thanks

We've been getting our 'oodies' (affectionately known as 'fluffies' in our house!) from OHS for a good few years now and I'm still yet to fault them.
I was gifted a zip up one 2 years ago when DS was born and it's still in pretty good shape! We've also gifted them a few times and have always been happily received, we'd recommend them 😊

HyggeTyggeDotCom · 02/10/2024 13:19

can’t remember if it’s already been mentioned but Homebase currently have 10% off everything. Lots on bird feeders, insect hotels etc that kids might like, or even cool things for their room?

@tabbycat985 ahhh that sucks Confused thanks for spotting tho as I'd missed that

cymrumam · 02/10/2024 14:01

@bizzey for hot chocolate - Whittards do lovely ones but are expensive but you could also check TK Maxx they often have selection boxes

BRANDSCASE gets £10 off a refillable deodorant at Wild

evtheria · 02/10/2024 14:09

@LittleRedY0shi
Thanks oh so much for the heads-up on the MinaLima books! Was planning to buy DS the second and third (which also seems to be on offer at £26) and this is a great price for such amazing works of art.

Actually maybe it's not working. It looked like it was going to work and now it's deleted it...

For anyone ordering photo gifts, here's a Snapfish code. Assuming it's generic. Just received via email.

@Amazonmulu I like walking and gardening and I would suspect that like me they have all the equipment they prefer.
Garden gifts in the shops tend to be of poor quality and don’t last.
The only thing I would suggest is a wind up/solar radio to use whilst gardening. I love mine. I think they also take batteries or can be charged by usb.

Gagaforgoose · 02/10/2024 14:29

Lindor is doing a buy 4 advent calendars and get a box of assorted Lindor. I used my 10% off welcome voucher as well. Might be better deals to come but I always forget about these and left scrambling last minute

Qwerty21 · 02/10/2024 14:52

Omg I love them. Thank you so much for this. I've seen the Bloomsbury ones before but never these! I've been reading PS with my child but they keep complaining it's not interesting as there are no pictures. I've managed to buy one in the used like new category on Amazon for just under £20, and I've ordered them CoS for Xmas and I'm so very excited and happy. Thank you

Justkeepsmilingx · 02/10/2024 14:53

At last I can post something, having got lots of ideas from you lovely lot.

This is £3 at Amazon instead of £9.99 …… just ordered some for stocking fillers for my younger nephews and they look good.

Disney: Tattoo and Activity Book (Includes 45 temporary tattoos)

can’t seem to add a link but you should be able to search - and thanks everyone for all the posts !

mogtheexcellent · 02/10/2024 15:08

Be aware that minalima are not doing any more of the Harry Potter books. Apparently a new illustrator will take over for Goblet of Fire. Not sure if they will be as good as the MinaLima ones. Gutted as I wanted the full set.

mumonthehill · 02/10/2024 15:13

Thanks for whatever posted the calvin klein boxers, they have arrived! Not sure ds will be that delighted but his older brother has said they are life changing!!! Who knew.

Ilovepugs2017 · 02/10/2024 15:14

@mumonthehill no worries! Mine arrived too I’ve hidden them away before DS spots them before Xmas 🎅 😂

Thelifeofawife · 02/10/2024 15:16

@mumonthehill @Ilovepugs2017 what is the quality like? I was thinking of getting some for DS but there seemed to be mixed reviews and questions about whether they were genuine

mogtheexcellent · 02/10/2024 15:17

Can anyone recommend a dupe for air up bottles? My DD10 has asked for one but Im not spending loads on something that she will either break or lose within a week.

Ilovepugs2017 · 02/10/2024 15:21

@mogtheexcellent i wouldn’t recommend them at all tbh, got my son one a while back and he barely bothered with it as he said it just tastes like plain water

Ilovepugs2017 · 02/10/2024 15:22

@Thelifeofawife i haven’t opened them as I don’t want to mess the packaging up 😂 I can never get them to go back the same as what they were when bought otherwise! Sorry I can’t be of much help

mumonthehill · 02/10/2024 15:23

@Thelifeofawife well i have not taken them out of the box but they feel soft. Ds23 swears by them apparently!

mybrainisbusybeingawesome · 02/10/2024 15:49

@FilthyforFirth thanks for this link. Big cowboy fans in this house so got DH some great extras.
