Mine is 12 - can't remember everything I have got her (I shop ages in advance) but here is some of it. (She is animal mad. Mature for her age in some ways, in terms of the books she reads, interest in her appearance etc - but still likes soft toys etc).

Cuddly capybara which has babies
Highland cow cushion, picture and toy
Cuddly cat dressed like a shark
Another cuddly cat of some kind
(She really does bloody love cuddly toys)
Cult cutie ornament
Star face spot things
Face masks
Water melon lip balm
Some kind of fragrance
Cat pencil case and stationary
Cat shaped handbag
Forest animal wash bag
Load of vampire books I vaguely disapprove of
Some non-fiction books about dog breeds
French biscuits
Animal themed desk lights
A couple of plastic storage bits/lightweight stick up shelves.
A couple of pin badges
Animal themed nightie and PJs.
Cat themed socks
Bikini

Her main gift, which she asked for, is some nights away in a nice apartment in our favourite British seaside resort (with me)

This does look like a lot (and I have missed some things I think) and we are by no means rich - some of this stuff is second hand, some is Temu, some I got on offer/in the sale. I start shopping months in advance so never spend more than I can afford - and my daughter is the best person in the world (to me) and deserves every penny!

TravellingSpoon · 19/11/2023 17:21

DD (15)

Tickets for Mean Girls theatre show next summer (Main gift and what she asked for)
Taylor Swift Charm Bracelet (if it arrives in time!)
Sol de Janiero gift set
Taylor Swift Sheet music book
Lush gift set
Taylor Swift Calendar
Hot Chocolate bombs
Initial necklace from Etsy
Fluffy socks
Christmas Pyjamas

SkaterGrrrrl · 19/11/2023 17:58

Can someone link to the heatless hair curler please?

SkaterGrrrrl · 19/11/2023 18:13

DD is 13. She has asked for

Fluffy earmuffs
Complicated Lego sets
Theatre vouchers or Hamilton tickets
Black Pink merch
Reusable cleansing pads
Stationery and art supplies
Colour changing trainers
Graphic novels
Starbucks vouchers
Bubble tea kit
Waterstones vouchers
Nintendo switch game
Weighted blanket

We will probably also get her a Lucky Voice karaoke kit.

DD is not really into makeup or skin care yet, but for her birthday this year she loved getting things for her room:

Neon sign
Fairy lights
Plants
Squishmallow
Fluffy pillow

Finally you can go onto Etsy and get iced biscuits with quotes from her favourite movie... DD loved these ones with Mean Girls quotes:

SkaterGrrrrl · 19/11/2023 18:15

And two more ideas that were a huge hit for Xmas when DD was 12

Candyfloss machine from Robert Dyas - comes out at every sleepover

Waffle machine from Lakeland - ditto.

My 13-year-old mentioned at some point that the 90’s fashion is back and asked whether I had any 90’s clothes left 😂 (I don’t but also I wasn’t particularly fashionable even in the 90’s). Does anyone much wiser and more fashion-conscious know what type of 90’s clothes are back in? Is there a way to get her some kind of gift card for Vinted or a vintage shop on London (any recommendations welcome)?

Yes it's 90s/early 2000s clothes that are back,they are labeled Y2K.
Look on Urban Outfitters or even Shein, look for low rise jeans etc. Or just try entering Y2K into the searches on there.

I've had a message from white fox to say their black fri sale starts at 8am tomorrow and will last 4 hours.

Does it say what percentage off?

WrongSwanson · 19/11/2023 19:17

My budget is much less than many on here (about 150/child)

(we could spend a lot more as high salaries but i don't do big gift focused Christmases, it's not what it's about for us - no judgement, it just all my Christmas memories from my childhood/teens are of the baking and board games and making paper chains, singing carols, ice skating and seeing family and friends, so thats what I focus on sorting...)

The boys we have sorted by DD (10 ) can't think of anything she would like! I've bought her tickets to a musical but feel a bit stuck otherwise! I don't want to buy stuff just for the sake of it.... But I think she will want things to unwrap... She's very active and does lots of dance and acting... Just struggling for inspiration!

(Little bits I'll be fine, she loves fake nails/ books/ art stuff/teddies, it's a bigger gift that I am stuck on)

pippiploop · 19/11/2023 19:24

Nice one!!!

My dd age 9.5

We don't do stockings as such it's all
Just on the sofa but here's hers...

Nike trainers x2
Football boots
Footbal gloves
New football
Nike clothes- leggings/ hoodies
An advocado oodie
Switch games
Lego friends
Monopoly
New books
Art bits
Fluffy pjs
Slippers
Nike school bag
More clothes (Primark etc)
So bosysprays

And I'm not sure what else I've got that's been tucked away

I have no idea about the black Friday sale but I got 20% off yesterday by signing up to an account. I think I will cry if the black Friday sale gives an even better offer 😭.

I love these threads but I don't even feel like contributing as I am sick of the same shite every year where people have to come on and slag everyone off for daring to spoil their child at Christmas. It honestly puts me off reading them. I'm a single parent with absolutely no help at all from their other parent. I don't really have spare money my children don't get to go nice holidays abroad or have expensive stuff bought as and when required. I save hard over the year to be able to buy a lot for my children at Christmas.

Not once have I ever seen anyone comment on a thread bringing someone down for choosing not to spend a lot on their child at Xmas and rightly so as it's no one else's business. So why is it ok to do the opposite? I think I post this same spiel every year as well but it pisses me off so much.

Worriedmum42 · 19/11/2023 20:12

White Fox code is working now it is 40% off
FLASH40

hby9628 · 19/11/2023 20:15

@Worriedmum42 just came to post the same! I had 8am tomorrow in my head. Oops.
Hoodie secured. Yay

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 19/11/2023 20:15

White fox sale has started. 40% off everything.

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 19/11/2023 20:20

I lost the one I wanted as went out of stock whilst i was checking out. Managed another colour so fingers crossed it will meet with approval. Didn't want to spend hours deciding between them in case they all went out of stock!

XelaM · 19/11/2023 22:10

@BurntOrangeAutumn and @TheGirlWhoLived thank you for the tips! Yes, she’s already bought herself low-cut jeans and tight/cropped tops of Shein and she already has a puffer jacket, so the safest bet is cash 💸 as I will definitely get it wrong😂

leccybill · 19/11/2023 22:52

DD 13 doesn't have any social media so doesn't know what the in things are. She also just likes surprises.

She's getting:
Tickets for Hamilton
Converse

Benefit bauble of mini make-up
Tweezerman tweezers
Retro Coco Pops cereal bowl (Tesco)
Fear Street books collection
Fluffy handbag
PLouise lip stuff
Loungewear suit (Primark)
Clothes from Monki
Collusion tshirts (Asos)

Off grandparents:
Baking kits
Posca type pens
Mini umbrella
Chenille jumper
Perfume but not sure which one is 'in' - any help with this?

Things that were a big hit last year:
Wooden hairbrushes from Kent
Baking hamper
SIX tickets
Dr Martens

She's into haircare but I don't really want to get her her own straighteners, dryer etc because I've got all the Dyson stuff and she'll just keep borrowing mine!

I'm not really sure what the in perfume is at the moment other than Ariana Grande but my 12 year old and her friends seem to like Victoria's Secret body mists. If she's into hair care what about a heatless curls set as a stocking filler they are only about £3 in Primark. I'm fact I think I paid about 70p on Temu.

leccybill · 19/11/2023 23:48

Thank you, I think I will get her the heatless curler.
I have just delved into Temu!

janefondofu · 20/11/2023 00:00

Jules0702 · 14/11/2023 01:12

I won’t be getting all of these except for the phone but some ideas that I’m considering.

DD15

Stocking:
-Laneige midnight minis
-Summer Fridays lip balm
-fluffy slipper socks
-Miffy necklace
-Pandora tennis bracelet
-chocolates

Main:
-Iphone
-Longchamp le pliage tote

Just to let you know about the Longchamp Le Pliage tote, my friends have the medium, but I'd consider it way too small if she's going to be taking folders and school stuff for college/uni, I have the large and it's the perfect size! just a suggestion!

SkaterGrrrrl · 20/11/2023 07:37

Six tickets a great idea! DD loooooved it.

TheGirlWhoLived · 20/11/2023 07:58

Oh my sisters taking the girls to see six, I’m so excited for them to get that present!!

Agree completely! That's why I didn't share my kids lists after a comment that was made basically ridiculing & disbelieving that people would spend 500 on one child.

BurntOrangeAutumn · 20/11/2023 13:58

Dinnerlady12 · 19/11/2023 20:29

But everything in the smaller sizes sold out unbelievably fast, so it's good you got your order in already look on the bright side.

Sol de janeiro is really popular it seems with tweens/young teens this year it seems. That was on my 11 yr olds wishlist.
Victoria secrets is definitely always popular too, I've bought one of my older daughters a body spray for her stocking & a bath & body works one for the other teen.
