Don't let them squeeze spots!! It leaves scars!!!!

I know. But this falls on deaf ears where my teen DS is concerned 😫

Borris · 17/11/2023 16:44

Same with my spot squeezing dd. She simply won’t leave them alone.

yellowlane · 17/11/2023 16:56

My dd 11 wants so many of the same things as others. Obsessed with skincare and expensive brands!

Here's her list
-crocs and jewels

  • Laniege lip glosses
-Dior lip oil -sol de janeiro (3 different scents) -bum bum cream -drunk elephant set
  • Ariana grande perfume
-gillyhicks leggings
  • eye mask
  • electric toothbrush
-Pandora charm
  • air force trainers
-Nike quarter zip -Nike sports bra

I'm also doing her a beauty advent calendar. I get Birchbox monthly so I've been saving up bits that I can put in it and bought the advent bags from Amazon. Dc knows that everything she gets in December (advent calendar, Xmas eve box (slippers, silk pj's etc) is all part of her Xmas presents as they're not cheap!

OnaKitchenRoll · 17/11/2023 17:07

Anyone have non-girlie girls? My DD would turn her nose up at most of the stuff on this list. So far I have puzzle books and an escape room game. I usually get something sports related but I think I'm out of ideas. Hits in recent years have been air track, gymnastics bar and rollerskates.

Wanttobeok · 17/11/2023 17:16

@OnaKitchenRoll what about

Air up bottle
New bag/shoes/kit for any sports that she does
Board game
Subscription to a magazine
Oodie

Wanttobeok · 17/11/2023 17:16

That geode kit looks great!

Knot-tying book and some proper ropes to go with it (I bought DS a specific set off Scouts site but am sure there's more on Amazon).

A pottery kit (noah, sculpd are examples of brands that do project boxes)

A pull-up bar** sorry, assume this is the same as the gymnastics bar

Bookily gift card (like National Book Token, but they get their amount monthly to spend)

hby9628 · 17/11/2023 17:43

For those who struggle with spots, my DD has been using a product called Purification from temple spa. It's pricey (think it's £32 for a pot) but she dabs a little bit on at night if she has a spot and it really helps clear them up. The pot lasts for ages
She used it for a week on a really deep black head and it completely got rid of it. I couldn't believe it.
I think you can buy tester posts if you wanted to try it as a stocking filler first.

So after seeing white fox hoodie on several of the lists here I thought it was odd my 12yo hadnt out it in her list given lots of the other stuff crossed over.

It's just been added by her!

They do money off relatively frequently and I will say I was impressed by delivery speed and quality of the hoody

hby9628 · 17/11/2023 22:16

@Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky the white fox hoodies are lovely. Be warned they are large though & they aren't easy to return. I got the wrong size for my DD but sold it on Vinted quite easily.
I think they are due a Black Friday sale you can sign up to receive alerts.

Whodhaveem · 17/11/2023 22:25

Loving all your lists and condolences to all my fellow horsey parents…

I don’t mind really, I imagine if it wasn’t Le mieux competition breeches I was paying for it would be some equally expensive pair of white trainers…

Keep them coming, I still have gaps particularly for my bigger staff girl!

@OnaKitchenRoll yes my DD2 is very much a tomboy and she’s getting a drum kit for Xmas if that’s any help 😆. She’s been having lessons for 2 yrs so we’ve put it off as long as poss…
It’s second hand (controversial on this thread) so she’ll get a few other bits too - possibly wireless headphones, clothes (gilet, hoodie,PJs), Lego gears set. She likes crafts/games/books so she’s got a pompom maker, P is for Pizza game, onesie and Keri Smiths Scavenger book. Some of this will be from relatives.

DD1 is just 13 and harder to buy for - she’s getting a cosmetics organiser and light up mirror for her room, she likes skincare stuff but isn’t into make up yet so thinking of clear mascara, lip gloss, sheet masks, hand cream, Ordered a cyanotype printing kit and pressed flowers to use with it, all from Etsy. Just used up clothes ideas for her birthday but maybe a jacket or trainers. books - maybe one of those invisible book stack shelves.

I love these lists and always get some ideas I’d never have thought of from them!
Wins from previous years have been Ugg-style boots from Next, selfie stick/phone tripod combo, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza and Exploding Kittens games, fake ivy/foliage to decorate their bedrooms, Echo dots (loved them so much I got one for me too! for a bargain get not-the-latest version in Black Friday), Keri Smith’s Wreck This Journal, posters from
HMV.

will be back for more ideas - thanks for the thread OP.

heidipi · 18/11/2023 00:37

Ooh I was thinking of a mini sticker/photo printer but wonder if it would ever get used or if only really expensive ones are any good - has anyone tried them?

LizzoBorden · 18/11/2023 02:58

I find these threads so interesting in showing how different girls of this age are - mine is a very young 12 and I think a couple of years away from skincare and makeup. I’m rather looking forward to her getting into that sort of thing as she’s becoming very difficult to buy for!

So far we’ve got her Taylor Swift sheet music for piano, a few books, and a little projector so she can watch films on her bedroom ceiling. She’s got all the art supplies and riding kit she needs, and a wardrobe that I rather envy 😂. Really struggling to think of much else for her.

Thanks for this tip, I’ve just ordered a pot for my daughter who suffer with bad spots on her forehead - had never heard of temple spa before but the products look great!

CaramelEmporium · 18/11/2023 08:25

Is White Fox the brand of the moment or something? My DD nearly 10 has asked for a hoodie, I’ve never heard of them and assumed it was some random brand she’d stumbled on.

Loving this list for inspiration!!

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 18/11/2023 09:01

@LizzoBorden my 16yo is less into skincare than her 12yo sister. Just the basics for her. However she does have a record player and loves books so that provided an endless supply of presents in the in between age for her.

hby9628 · 18/11/2023 10:38

@CamdenLurker I was unsure about it so tried the tester first and it has really made a difference. I often pop in to her room and see it dabbed on her forehead! Hope it works for your DD.
Yes the products are lovely. I heard of it through a friend who now sells it....it's only sold at harrods, in spas & online. Some of it is pricey but they often have good offers on so worth keeping an eye on. The Repose is beautiful.

XelaM · 18/11/2023 13:29

@LizzoBorden How about cash 💵? It's always a good present for a teen/preteen 😄
