Thank you fluffy :) The smell of cinnamon whirls and chocolate croissants for breakfast this morning are making me feel Christmassy.

Sorrry to hear your DH has COVID wreck.

WreckTangled · 13/11/2022 09:30

Thanks fluffy!

It’s horrible because he’s never ill (obvs he gets man flu) but he’s the one who’s meant to look after us all so I can’t have him unwell 😅

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 13/11/2022 09:50

I have some ready rolled puff pastry in the fridge. I am thinking if I could summon up the energy (which is debatable) I will make cinnamon whirls or mince pies.

Settles rump on the cosy cushions of Thread 4

Wreck hope you're settling and coping with all the packing boxes !

Flowers to everyone unwell, I think it's That Time Of Year when the various lurgies come out . Not surprising though, at work the patiets say "Oh do I need a mask" ?
Erm yes you do . There are signs everywhere to wear a mask in a healthcare setting , and we still wear in F2F.
The mass vaccines (Covid and flu) will help but its not 100%

I need to do some cleaning today (joy)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/11/2022 10:26

Oh and Happy Birthday Dreaming

NoWordForFluffy · 13/11/2022 10:57

I need to clean too. Currently I'm out and about buying bird seed and collecting something from Argos.

I'm going to go to the allotment now to take the seed and see if the birds have found the new feeder and then home to clean.

I slept loads last night, which is unusual for me. Doubt I'll repeat it any time soon!

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 13/11/2022 19:18

I did my cleaning (while DH took the kids to a friend's to play). I also baked more mince pies, and some muffins and brownie which the kids have for puddings.

I then had visual disturbance and had to take codeine and paracetamol to head the migraine off. Thankfully it seems to have worked!

Good evening and thank you for the new thread Fluffy

I hope your DH isn't too poorly Wreck. Utterly crap timing with your move, though.

Why you are really going through it Flowers if you need anything just drop me a message.

I have printed off a December planner with a view to meal planning and making sure I meet any deadlines - I need to hand out my Christmas cakes on 7th December so I have to marzipan and ice them in plenty of time and I think I'm meeting up with my siblings so I need to write the rest of my Christmas cards.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 13/11/2022 20:59

Thanks Woolly, much appreciated.

I keep running through my Ocado and Morrisons Christmas orders and adjusting them. I have an Iceland list forming as well.

Morning! Another Monday...

I have Wednesday off next week, which will be nice. Except we're clearing a shed / going to the tip, so it won't be exciting. 🤣 Hopefully that won't actually take too long though and I can enjoy the rest of the day. Though I may then do the pre-tree deep clean of the lounge and dining room, so maybe not!

Wreck, how are you getting on?

Why, I think I have my orders sorted. Hopefully! I don't want to over-think them so I'm choosing not to look!

OP posts:
whydoesitalwayshappentome · 14/11/2022 08:01

I probably shouldn't touch the orders Fluffy especially with reduced brain capacity 🤣 anything could happen.

Foggy and grey here. Very unpleasant indeed.

WreckTangled · 14/11/2022 08:27

We’re ok dd got on the public bus for the first time, she was nervous but it went well. I was awake most of the night with horrible anxiety. I really want to buy some wardrobes right now and loo roll holder, towel rails etc plus I still need to cancel the old broadband and change my address at a million places 🤪

CrazyBaubles · 14/11/2022 11:52

Belated Happy Birthday dreaming

Glad your dd got on the bus ok Wreck and I hope your DH feels better soon.
I'm a big sympathiser with people with Covid as it completely knocked me off my feet.

Luckily there are no food orders to worry about here as we're away but my present shopping is almost done. I have 3 presents (2 friends & MIL) left to find, and df's hamper stuff which I need to get nearer the time.

We were busy yesterday picking up c&c orders, food shop, finishing the cleaning and seeing FIL. Spent a nice evening filling in my Christmas planner though, plus DH pushed me to break my Christmas magazine ban in Sainsburys and ended up putting a 2 pack in the trolly (good housekeeping and country living) so I had a flick through them too Xmas Smile

TheWoollybacksWife · 14/11/2022 20:34

How are the magazines Crazy? I haven't bought any this year and feel that I might be missing out 😂

I posted my first present today and bought a book of Christmas stamps.

It's been foggy and a bit damp all day today. Definitely autumnal compared to Saturday when I was regretting not putting sun cream on!

CrazyBaubles · 15/11/2022 08:53

🎄40🎄

Morning. Very grey and wet here. I've got some star Christmas lights on the wall in the spare room / office and I've switched them on today Xmas Smile

Woolly I wouldn't bother with the magazines tbh. I didn't see anything new in them - but I'm also a bad influence and have to say it was nice to flick through them looking at the festive photos while watching a Christmas film....

NoWordForFluffy · 15/11/2022 18:01

It's been diabolical here today. Very wet indeed. The poor starlings looked very tatty when they visited at lunch time!

I don't really know why I get magazines each year...it's a compulsion! 🙈🎄🎅🏻

Most buffet food in the freezer I’m so happy. Last shop next week then that’s it for this year onto UC I go so will start saving in January for next year.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/11/2022 19:22

Good Housekeeping is okay , I open it and read a page or two .
I resisted the Sainsbury magazine though, but I might change .

This weekend the plan is to shampoo the hall/stairs carpet , it does look rough but I'm not replacing it as it was ££ and our cats attack soft furnishings so not buying a new one for them to mangle .
I've told DD she's helping , most of the stains are her coffee Xmas Hmm]

Taytocrisps · 15/11/2022 22:08

Hi everyone,

I had a quick look at the Christmas decorations in M&S this morning. They have some lovely things including some gorgeous but expensive Nutcracker cushions. I've a thing about Nutcrackers. I also admired a gingerbread house decoration in Carraig Donn (Irish shop). I didn't actually buy anything though.

Might pick up the Good Housekeeping Christmas mag as a treat this weekend.

I've a lot of my shopping done but I'm hoping to get one or two things in the Black Friday sales.

Trying to ignore the rather alarming headlines in the news this evening. DD asked if this means WWIII is about to break out. I tried to reassure her as best I can and pointed out that there was a lot of talk about war and nuclear war way back when I was a teenager. I also told her that the alarming headlines won't get her out of emptying the dishwasher. I suggested we give a donation to help with the war relief efforts/first aid supplies.

ConstantlyCooking · 15/11/2022 22:22

Joins thread with determination to post regularly. I have a Christmas candle burning and have started reading Nigel Slater and May have tested a box of M&S Florentines.

Morning!

It's rather chilly here this morning. Nice and bright though. The washing is out, though the breeze doesn't seem up to much yet.

Wreck, how are you getting on? Does your DH feel better now?

The Nutcracker cushions are lovely, Tayto. Definitely a bit dear though!

OP posts:
OrigamiOwls · 16/11/2022 10:13

I'm tempted by the nutcracker cushion (the one with 3 of them on rather then the light up on)!

Taytocrisps · 16/11/2022 10:28

Working from home today. It was a little frosty this morning and foggy. Felt quite Christmassy. Although I think there's more rain forecast for later.

BellaGoth · 16/11/2022 11:27

Hi everyone, can I join you? I'm struggling to get excited by Christmas as DH has just announced he hates it and wishes we didn't bother.

Have 2 DC aged 9 and 6 so have to find some enthusiasm for them somehow! I've done nothing at all except get a few small presents.

WreckTangled · 16/11/2022 13:07

We’re getting there fluffy. Dh is ok he went back to work yesterday but is still tired and not back to normal. The router was meant to come yesterday but dpd sent a sorry we missed you message 🤨 they didn’t miss me, must have been too busy, hope it comes today.

Bella that’s rubbish, I’m not feeling festive yet either which is very unusual for me. I’m going to watch festive films at the weekend and light festive candles.
