Hoorah for WiFi Wreck.

Sounds like a busy day Crazy. Have a great weekend away.

I am still unwell so slowly cleaning with breaks in between as every joint really hurts (who knew we had so many joints).

WreckTangled · 18/11/2022 12:05

Crazy - falling for Christmas, obvs. Been waiting ages! Enjoy Edinburgh are you going to the dome?

dh said no snowman loo roll or kitchen towel in Aldi here either.

CrazyBaubles · 18/11/2022 14:06

why that sounds awful. Can you rope anyone in to do some cleaning for you?

Wreck we haven't booked it but I'm hoping we can stop in for drinks on Sunday.
Friend I'm going with hasn't been there before and things have become a bit financially tighter for her than she expected when we booked it so I'm assuming she's hoping for us to stick to some cheaper options so she may say no. It looks lovely though!

I've stormed through loads of work today and now I have some more admin type stuff to cross off. Pretty sure I can do that with the tv on in the background so I'm also going to watch Falling for Christmas too. Wreck, we can compare notes Xmas Grin

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 18/11/2022 16:52

Crazy I could do with a minion to clean for me really.

Taytocrisps · 18/11/2022 17:45

Hi everyone,

I was working from home today so I had a nice, easy day. Nobody bothering me Grin.

I picked up two presents in a local shop on my break. Same thing for two different people. It was very cold out but sunny and there was a nice, festive chill in the air.

I had a mixed experience shopping online. Build-A-Bear don't deliver to Ireland. And you can't avail of C&C with them - or at least, not here in Ireland. I picked out a pair of earrings for DD and signed up to Pandora's newsletter to avail of a 10% discount. But there's a problem with one of the lines of my address. I'm getting an error message to say that the line is limited to 30 characters or less. But my address is less than 30 characters. Grrrr..... Must be some glitch. I was going to phone their customer service number but then I remembered that it's Black Friday and I took pity on the poor staff manning the phones. I'll ring them on Monday. The discount isn't exclusive to today. Oh, and I got 25% off a gift for Ex-FIL.

Only a week to go until the Late Late Toy Show. I'm taking that day off work so I can clean my sitting room and put up the Christmas tree and decorations etc. before it starts.

I've a few chores to do today but if I finish up early, I'll watch something cheesy and Christmassy. I've been very restrained.

Christmas plans for the weekend involve writing my Christmas cards and wrapping some presents. And tomorrow when I'm doing my shopping, I'll pick up the Christmas edition of Good Housekeeping. And maybe some mince pies. It will be nice to have a browse with a cuppa when I get back.

Biddy I was dizzy reading about your plans for November and December. Hope all goes according to plan and you get a little time to enjoy the festive season.

Wreck Yaay for the Wifi.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/11/2022 20:46

I feel like I've spent all day shopping Xmas Shock

Trip to Aldi , then went into town and picked up pyjamas for DD and some mince pies (not eaten them yet) . Really busy considering its a Friday !
And no The Snowman loo roll in Wilko either
Then Costco with DH, probably the last pre-Christmas Costco shop.

In between shopping I vacuumed and made a pasta bake.
I got a George 3-in-1 a couple of years ago , it is bloody marvellous on the cats hair ( I use the Halo Capsual for quick tidy ups and hard floors)
The George is a hefty beast , I got DD to hold it on the stairs in case it launched itself and crushed me !

I need to wrap some presents , might do tomorrow .

ConstantlyCooking · 18/11/2022 21:33

Busy day 70. Back from training today and babysitting DGD 😁

Morning!

We were child free last night so took advantage and firstly watched my Biffy blu ray LOUD and then wrapped Christmas presents! 🎅🏻🎄 We have one present sitting in Argos waiting to be collected, two on the way to me and one not yet bought but in my basket, hoping for a points offer at the Lego store! Then, other than wrapping and posting a couple of items, I'm done! Assuming I resist The Twitch! Xmas Grin

I'm going to a wreath-making thingy today. Should be fun (as I'm shit at such things)!

Morning everyone.

A beautiful winter morning here. Very frosty with red skies. Although that probably suggests there's bad weather on the way.

I'm going to get dressed shortly and head to the supermarket. My sister is calling over later.

I watched 'Falling for Christmas' last night. It's very cheesy but very Christmassy. I love Lindsay Lohan but felt she was a bit old for her role. And the Dad reminded me a bit of Pat Kenny (Irish broadcaster) which was a bit disconcerting. Did anyone else think the sound was a bit out of sync here and there? Especially the scenes with the little girl. Anyway, there are some lovely snowy scenes and lots of Christmas trees and decorations and Jake is very easy on the eye. Might watch another cheesy movie later with an open fire and a glass of something.🎄⛄

Taytocrisps · 19/11/2022 08:25

Fluffy enjoy making your wreath.

WreckTangled · 19/11/2022 08:32

It was really cheesy tayto! It was ok but not my favourite. I’m going to watch the Freddie Prinze Jr one today.

That sounds fun fluffy, I want a wreath this year they’re not cheap though.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/11/2022 08:34

We have an artificial wreath at the moment. A light up one from Next. It must be a good 8 years old, as I think I got it for our first Christmas in this house, and we moved here in 2014.

I don't hold out great hopes for my wreath though. 🙈

OP posts:
whydoesitalwayshappentome · 19/11/2022 11:27

Haha Fluffy bet your wreath will still be better than anything I could create.

WreckTangled · 19/11/2022 12:29

I’m trying to write my essay but I’m just not getting anywhere at all. I’ve written about 100 words in three hours 😭

NoWordForFluffy · 19/11/2022 13:00

We aren't going now. My mother in law fell over and hurt herself, so no go as I didn't want to go on my own.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/11/2022 17:07

Aww hope your MIL is ok fluffy

I have a pre-lit wreath (ancient one from QVC , I cannot remember how old it is but must be 10+ years)
They have a pre-lit for sale and I was thinking about it (to make up for the Lack Of Tree since the cats put paid to trees) but the reviews say the lights aren't very bright . Might see if it goes on sale nearer Christmas .

I have done an ivy wreath in the past , long strands from the garden twined round/plaited with a red ribbon. It lasts a week or so but costs me nothing but time .

It s now five weeks till Christmas Eve Xmas Grin

Five weeks till Christmas Day Xmas Grin

I watched Heston Blumenthal making roast potatoes , he par boiled them till they were really soft in very little water then put on a rack till they went hard . Then in loads of goose fat for an excessive amount of time ( 50-90 minutes depending on potato type) they were golden'n'crispy but looked like you'd ache after eating them.

I got a couple of presents for DS and books for DD (she chose) . I was going to wrap them but our little boy cat was on the bed and I didn't want to disturb him <awww>

BiddyPop · 20/11/2022 01:09

Just int he door from neighbourhood Christmas party (former neighbours visiting from overseas so a little early). Dh and Dd stayed home, but given how I feel about both today that's fine.

Got a few presents when visiting toy shop earlier. Now filling HWB and taking aching dancing feet to bed...💃💃🍷🍷

WreckTangled · 20/11/2022 09:47

Oh dear Biddy! Hope you enjoyed the party though.

We’re going to walk into town in a bit, such a novelty.

Taytocrisps · 20/11/2022 11:12

May have watched another Christmas movie last night - 'Christmas Under Wraps'. It was quite good (in a cheesy/suspend all disbelief kind of way).

MabelMoo23 · 20/11/2022 11:47

hello!

can I join? I’m currently making my Jamie Oliver get ahead gravy and also some red cabbage. All ready for freezing.

we are hosting Christmas Day - my DH, our young DDs, my parents, brother and my MIL as my FIL passed away this year. So wanting it to be a good one - so just trying to reduce stress on the day for cooking lunch.

still got a few presents to get, as well as want to sort my DD’s advent calendars. Am lucky enough to have had Liberty advent calendars in years gone by and have saved the boxes, so filling with chocs (and tat!) for my girls.

definitely fancy a peek through GH Christmas too so might have to get that!

WreckTangled · 20/11/2022 15:24

Welcome Mabel.

I got a few stocking fillers for ds today plus a present for dh. Just some lounge bottoms.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/11/2022 16:46

Someone is letting off fireworks Xmas Angry
FFS we've had Diwali and Guy Fawkes , and it isn't even properly dark so why ?
Though a quick search tellds me it is
NATIONAL ABSURDITY DAY - (s'cuse the shouty capitals I did C+P)

National Utter Wanker Day more like
And it's not even the local drug dealer advertising their new stash , that's a couple of random loud single fireworks .

I am old and Bah Humbug-ey .

BiddyPop · 20/11/2022 17:48

Evening all, I've been doing a lot of sorting and organising today. Much needed. And house cleaning. I even remembered to bring home all my small bottles from storage to bottle up the blackberry gin (sometime this week). A bit more to do before I call it a night, but I'm happy with progress (including 3 bags to clothes bank, when I finally acknowledged I'll never wear them again).

NoWordForFluffy · 20/11/2022 17:59

Hello!

I've been semi-productive today! I went to the allotment and did some weeding. I had fun watching the tits and finches eating sunflower seeds from my new feeder while I was there.

I then came home (and got caught in rain, but thankfully my allotment neighbour saved me literally seconds before a massive hailstorm started!) before taking DS to get paint, wallpaper etc for his room. We're doing dinos! I now have Batman curtains and bedding to sell on Facebook. Hopefully somebody will buy them!

I made muffins for DS' puddings and then cleaned the kitchen. Luckily DH did the school uniform ironing, so no need to do that. Phew!
