I had a disappointing Xmas day, crap presents and a lot of work, and now I’m really over it.
Had the tree up longer than I normally do, and started enjoying the season at the beginning of `December, by watching Xmas films and drinking hot chocolate with a snuggly blanket. So basically I’m over it already !
I want to put all the presents away and take the tree down. I hate new year, I’m just ready for spring now.

No. Today is only Boxing Day! Our tree only went up on 20th and will stay up until the day before school goes back. I love the week between Christmas and New Year.

MrsSugar · 26/12/2021 10:15

I’d love to. I have so much stuff crammed into my little living room id love it to be clean and tidy with breathing room however I have been up most of the night with a screaming 6 week old baby so I will not be lifting a finger to sort the house today

Xiaoxiong · 26/12/2021 10:18

We're doing this today but only because we're going away and, if all goes according to plan, not back until Jan. I can't think of anything more depressing than coming back to dusty Christmas decorations!

PlanktonsComputerWife · 26/12/2021 10:22

No way. Our display looks gorgeous.

CornishTiger · 26/12/2021 10:27

I’m keeping mine up for as long as I can bear it. However I’m itching for a tidy up too.

I do remember being disappointed one New Year’s Eve that it wasn’t up so will resist urge for now.

AutumnAlmanack · 26/12/2021 10:28

Yes, can't wait. I was in the shower last night and I actually thought 'when can I decently take the decorations down?'. Just not feeling festive at all this year - we didn't even eat the turkey yesterday, it's gone in the freezer. I can't wait for New Year's Day to come along and the mornings to start getting lighter.

BoredAndUnfulfilled · 26/12/2021 10:35

Mine is coming down today. If it wasn’t for my DS I wouldn’t put one up at all tbh. Do what feels right for you, it’s your house/life/Christmas and you get to decide how you do things.

NoMoreSkipsSmell · 26/12/2021 10:37

I’m of a similar thinking to you. I won’t take the tree down just yet but I’ll take down the other decks and little bits and pieces

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 26/12/2021 10:38

Mine usually comes down by NYE, I like to start the New Year all clean and sorted and everything put away.

coogee · 26/12/2021 10:41

Christmas has just started. If I’d actually put any up, I wouldn’t be taking mine down until it’s over.

I bought a new tree this year as my mum died last year, we got the call as I was assembling the old one.

I rescued all of mum's tree Dec's and we have them all on the tree. She was a demon tree decorator and they always looked stunning. I'm not and they are just randomly on the tree with a few of ours. The tree looks lovely and it's staying til the 12th night or the Sunday before. So long as its down before the 12th night as mum would go mad, it's bad luck to have the decorations up after that apparently HmmXmas Grin

Ah its the annual MN who can take their Xmas tree down first thread......

DillDanding · 26/12/2021 10:47

Our trees have been up less than a week.

We still have several Christmas get togethers planned here for this week.

We will take the trees down on 1st or 2nd of Jan.

Mrsmch123 · 26/12/2021 10:48

Yip can't wait to get it down!apparently we need to leave it until our nieces come over🙄 the house is all back to normal-toys and gifts stored away just the decorations left.

Robin233 · 26/12/2021 10:55

@Gubanc

Our tree went up around the 11th and is still going strong, it's such a lovely one. I had a rather rubbish Christmas this year but the tree cheers me up.
It's in a fairly big room though not really in anyone's way and I think that makes a difference.
It'll come down on NYE though.

^^^
Similar here. Though I'm enjoying Christmas.
We usually have a party of 9 of us between Christmas and new year. So tree stays but no party this year or last.
I like it up New Years Eve as I see it as all part of the celebration.
I usually take it down any time from New Year's Day to 6th Jan.
Depends where the weekend falls.

Grumpyosaurus · 26/12/2021 11:02

NO.
The tree only went up on Monday. I don't start to get into the Christmas spirit until about 18th/19th and I plan to enjoy it a bit longer.

ivykaty44 · 26/12/2021 11:04

Ah its the annual MN who can take their Xmas tree down first thread......
yes as they like to declare - xmas is over, as if its a one day event

onedayoranother · 26/12/2021 11:13

By New Years Day I feel Christmas is over and it's a separate holiday. But I don't mind them being up. My daughter goes back to school on the 5th, so I'll probably take then if not the weekend before.

crossstitchingnana · 26/12/2021 11:18

I don't understand why anyone takes their tree down before 2nd Jan. NYE is part of the season for me, and so it finishes after NYD. I can understand leaving them up until 12th night though.

Rainbows246 · 26/12/2021 11:22

Nope the tree goes up early December when I’m on a day off and stays til new year. Christmas for me isn’t just the one day it’s the build up before and then the days afterwards. I’ve still got festive plans!

Sparklydiplodocus · 26/12/2021 11:32

I’m with you OP. I’m totally ready to get rid of all the decorations, have a good clean and declutter and move on into the new year. I’m over it now!

GuyFawkesDay · 26/12/2021 11:36

New year mine come down, ready for a fresh start. I have, however, donned the black bin bags and booked a tip slot as I am determined to get the tat cleared out of the house.

blibblibs · 26/12/2021 11:38

I'm enjoying profiteroles and coffee with twinkling lights and Christmas candle burning so ours aren't going anywhere soon! Might take them down before back to work/school but they have been left up until February before.

CathyorClaire · 26/12/2021 11:39

Ours will stay up until next weekend but no longer.

I like a bit of clear blue water between Christmas and my early Jan birthday.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 26/12/2021 11:43

My tree went up 2 weeks ago and that is very early for me. I usually keep the decs up until 12th Night but last year they stayed up until Candlemas.

This year however youngest DD has Covid and is isolating and unable to come home. I have promised her that the tree will stay up until she comes - even if it's Easter. I will probably take down the decorations from the window but the tree is staying put.
