The biggest gift has been to have my parents to stay and for everyone to be healthy.

However presents are nice too... I was given a spa break from DH at the hotel where we got married. My dad was given theatre tickets and my mum a special piece of pottery. DH had some lovely new cookware. DS had games, books and gadgets. DD is fully kitted out in sportswear.

All in all, very happy and pleased.

A shellac nail lamp and accessories and a beautiful armani watch, fist time we've ever had a Christmas not being skint and it has been wonderful.

MoiraNotRuby · 26/12/2021 00:32

Teen 1 got scammed/somehow cocked up an online order so gave me a voucher for the same thing which I 'can cash in when he has saved up again'.

Teen 2 got me something that showed she pays attention to what I like, and isn't normally gushy but wrote me a lovely card.

And my parents gifts included money with strict instructions to spend it on a luxury treat just for me.

As with all things in life it is really about the thought that is behind it.

@CoedenNadolig

My 7 year old got me a Morphy Richards on the go coffee maker. 🤣 with 2 travel mugs!!

My mother said he fell in love with it in the shop and exclaimed "this is just what mummy needs, because she's a busy woman, busy people like coffee"

I adore him, and will think of him as I fill my coffee cup every morning, my little poppet. 🤣

I absolutely adore him! And your mum for making it happen.

Mine were an iPhone to aux cable from ds2 (so I can play music from my phone in the car). And a perfect choice related to my hobby from Ds1. Plus a wee basket of treats from my best friend. I’m a single parent, so the dc make gifts happen without any other adult input, and they always make me a little misty eyed how generous and spot on they are.

musketeersmama · 26/12/2021 00:53

My DD15 bought a little inexpensive wooden chopping board & hand painted one of my favourite Studio Ghibli characters onto it - I’m utterly delighted, such a thoughtful, gorgeous surprise ❤️ I’m going to hang it up in the kitchen so I can see it everyday.

amazonianwoman · 26/12/2021 01:24

Three presents that I had to buy myself because DH makes no fucking effort whatsoever Sad
I plan/buy/wrap all the presents for DCs, for his family and have to buy my own present from my parents (have done that since I was 17, I'm almost 60) They insist that I buy something, but don't even bother sending money for it any more.
I also plan, buy and cook all the food.
It's not about the monetary value, but it would be nice to feel that DH/family had invested a bit of thought and effort into me for once. I bloody hate Xmas now

slaybellsringing · 26/12/2021 01:44

A pair of mulberry silk pillowcases. My head is on one now and it feels very luxurious Smile❤️

Sooverthemill · 26/12/2021 07:03

These are such lovely posts which show it's not just about the spending but the thoughtfulness. So nice to read at the end of a difficult year

Money to go on holiday next year. Means we can have the holiday we dreamed of!

hiya89 · 26/12/2021 07:13

I was given presence. That's literally the best gift! Nothing I'm bought could ever be better than that.

My mum came out of hospital on Christmas Day and still insisted she wanted to have us round (despite no sleep) and she wanted to make dinner.

My dad went into a care home a few months ago. He's confused by car journeys.

My husband has ASD, couldn't spend last Christmas with me and my dad and his dementia aren't so compatible with my dad's dementia.

So to have them all in the same room with me and enjoying being together, that's all I needed and that's what makes it amazing every year, family, not gifts.

20viona · 26/12/2021 07:13

An I watch, neom oils and candles, a jumper of my fave band, giant Oodie. Great presents this year.

UsernameInTheTown · 26/12/2021 07:15

A gorgeous hand-knitted cardi from DD, ballet tickets from me, a huge roll of brown packaging paper (for Ebay parcels) from DD's DF and a fat cheque from DM & DF.

@dillydallydollydaydream7

Very happy with everything but especially my new 'Mummy' mug! A friend bought me one when DD1 was born (she's now 2.5) and I used it every day, but the other week stupidly smashed it when I was washing up and I was gutted! DD1 was an ivf baby and the mug was the first thing I got with 'Mummy' on it.. when you've waited for so long to be a Mum things like that mean the world. DH surprised me with a new one today and I love it!
That's lovely! My ivf baby scribbled in a "mummy" card for me for her first Christmas and it made my day yesterday.

Lovely hearing all these thoughtful gifts, that don't need to megabucks. My DH said his favourite gift was the new bond dvd as he hadn't been able to go to the cinema thanks to said baby, tenner well spent!

I was delighted by PJs (was still in maternity ones), wellies as DH saw mine had split, bath oil for my new bathroom, jigsaws, a brownie subscription. Still some to open too!

TheAnswerIsCake · 26/12/2021 08:54

My husband bought me some things I’d forgotten I even wanted, which shows he does listen to me wittering away about things “that would be nice”! Favourite things include an electronic diffuser and oils, heated socks (I struggles with cold feet, especially when watching our son at football), a scratch off world travels map, gin and chocolate.

nettytree · 26/12/2021 08:57

I got the free park maps you get from disney world. Exactly what I wanted to I can get them framed. Don't worry I got a lot of other stuff too.

supergloo · 26/12/2021 09:21

I love everything I get. I had a lovely nighty and gown set, a fluffy blankie, lots of sweets, an elephant shaped candle, body lotion stuff, a little plant in a bowl.

hiraethh · 26/12/2021 10:25

DP got me AirPods Pro, a Nike hoodie, a beautiful oversized crewneck jumper and one of my favourite movies on DVD.

My DM got me a pair of platform Dr Martens shoes, a hood for my Barbour waxed jacket, a Grogu hot water bottle, a MAC make up set and FLUFFY SOCKS.

hiredandsqueak · 26/12/2021 11:06

Audible subscription, flower subscription and new slippers so I'm delighted. Completely fulfills my desire not to have loads of "stuff" that I don't want and would need to find a space for.

hazandduck · 26/12/2021 11:29

Love reading what everyone got!

My favourite present was a necklace with my two daughters’ initials on. I don’t wear jewellery as a rule but I had a similar necklace from
when my first was born that broke last year and I was really upset when it broke. Really sweet of DH to remember that.

He also got me a tripod for recording progress videos, The Art of Luca book, a nice cookbook, and a rainbow hairbrush which my dd chose for me (she told me weeks ago that they’d got me it bless her!) Also got a voucher to have lunch at the Savoy Grill.

LindaEllen · 26/12/2021 11:44

I got 6 books from my parents and honestly, nothing makes me happier than having a lovely pile of books to get through. It might sound sad but that was my favourite part of my Christmas presents this year!

Crispynoodle · 26/12/2021 11:48

My 2 girls and their hubby's banded together to get kings of Leon tickets, lunch at Ox and a night here (if you know you know!) incredibly happy, oh I get to take himself too!

If you're happy with your presents, what we're you given?

I just love the shade of green! It's lovely.

@RobertsRadio

Another who received a Roberts radio, navy blue for my kitchen.

I also received three UD eyeshadow palettes, Laura Mercier face powder Nars blusher, Mac and Nars lipsticks and Opi nail polish in lovely berry and plum shades. I am thrilled with it all. This is stuff I asked for as I threw out all my makeup last month as it was all so old it was practically a biohazard. I'm optimistic that I will be rocking those lipsticks come spring and in the meantime will wear them on walks when I know I will not have to mask up.

Just in case you didn't know you can recycle make up in boots and Superdrug.
