How much has your food shop come to?

I’ve been out this morning. Did my whole shop in Booths, which is rare as it can be over priced… but it was quiet, compared to Aldi down the road! So I paid for less stress.

For 4 of us, 2 adults 2 kids under 13 it has cost me £162 for at least 3 days worth of meals, puddings, snacks and drinks.

I was thinking I’d done quite well!! But not I see it written down 🙈🙈

How are you guys getting on?

£80 but I’ve spent tonnes more over the last few weeks squirrelling away chocolates, biscuits, meat, wine etc

No idea of the actual total because I’ve eaten two tubs of Roses already that won’t be for Christmas.

SourMilkGhyll · 23/12/2021 18:11

£150 for 6 people for 6 days.
From reading everyone else's bills I think I've done very well.

UpsyDaisysarmpit · 23/12/2021 18:20

Just under £200 but that included a £16 bottle of whiskey, a tenner for Baileys and about £20 on soft drinks including some for a small family party. We've got loyalty vouchers for Tesco and co-op to restock on essentials but this is planed out to last our family of 4 (tween/teen kids) until about the 29th.

UpsyDaisysarmpit · 23/12/2021 18:21

Excuse typos

BananaPant · 23/12/2021 18:23

£400 for six

Waitrose.

StarryNightSparkles · 23/12/2021 18:25

£400 for 2 adults and 1 child 😳 that includes food, nibbles and champagne, wine etc. I am the kind of person that if you come to my house I feed you up, so always like to have extra in incase people pop in.

dhdislsndh · 23/12/2021 18:26

Spent £190 on my Christmas food to order
£100 marks and spencer other bits
£110 tesco
£160 Ocado

Doesn't include any booze which I had already bought which was about £250ish

Never ever spent this much before and feel very fortunate. Will always remember the days I had to sell things or miss bills to put food on the table. Always teach the kids too by donating to a toy appeal as well as food bank.

ZaraBananaAnd · 23/12/2021 18:31

@Littlewhiteballs

£115 from Asda but paid £55 for it. God bless Marcus Rashford. If I ever see that man in real life I'm going to hug him.
Same-the vouchers make such a huge difference dont they ❤️
Chanel05 · 23/12/2021 18:33

About £150. Two adults, one toddler, a cat and no alcohol included in that.

Lacedwithgrace · 23/12/2021 18:34

Food for 3 of us including veg, yorkshires, puddings, alcohol and not including meat which is from the butchers- £300 from M&S and Sainsbury's. Had to dash out to replace some food we donated to a local family in need so not mad at all.

mam0918 · 23/12/2021 18:39

£10.50 on:
Mini pizzas platter £1
Spring rolls £1
Yorkshire puddings £1.70
Cheese mash £0.89
Root mash £0.60
Parsnips £1.75
Veg medley £1.75
Cheese pasta £1.75
Vianetta yule log £1

There are only 4 of us eating (and honestly it's more like 3 as the toddler just picks) and we don't eat meat and cant be drunk as we have children to keep alive so it's pretty hard to spend more.

There's always loads left over so more would be unnecessary and I'm always amazed people manage to spend £100s but assume it's on meat and alcohol and for a lot of adults.

We also don't generally pig out or buy other stuff except for the usual weekly shop around Xmas. Snacky things go in stockings so are counted in that budget (approx. £10pp) and hot chocolate is counted in the Xmas eve budget, not the food shop budget.

Didn't even buy Baileys this year as I drink so infrequently we still have a full unopened bottle from 2 years ago.

Yesthatscorrect · 23/12/2021 18:56

We aren't hosting anyone over Christmas so this is just for other meals outside of Christmas day and a couple of meals out for just over a week.
£75 in Aldi which was mostly wine and a couple of party food bits.
£60 in M&S on whatever we fancied (light up gin obvs)
£100 in Tesco on normal food.

Jessie75 · 23/12/2021 19:00

Two bags of shopping from M&S £90. It’s actually madness

Xtraincome · 23/12/2021 19:03

£164 to see us until Wednesday (did it last night) at Sainsburys. Stock was great and shop was quiet, it was late, really pleased and got it all. I even bought the posh steak for me and DH Xmas Dinner.

However, I did a £45 Iceland 2 weeks ago and did a booze top up which was only small (£30) as I won a massive hamper from kids school.

ChocolateCakeYum · 23/12/2021 19:04

About £80

That’s shopping for a week (including Christmas meat and trimmings and some M&S puddings) and a nice bottle of wine.

There’s only us (2 adults and ds) though this year though so no point in going overboard.

LynetteScavo · 23/12/2021 19:07

Probably only £150, but we're only really here for Christmas Day. I hope we don't eat £150 worth of food in one day though! Grin

theremustonlybeone · 23/12/2021 19:16

Turkey- £75
Food- £300
Cheese- £50
Wine- £100
Bubbly- £50

PieonaBarm · 23/12/2021 19:37

5 adults Christmas Day, 3 adults Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, 27th and 28th, about £250 which sounds obscene when I look at it but that's everything and will see me and DH until new year too. M&S and Tesco.

MrsPworkingmummy · 23/12/2021 19:48

My Sainsburys shop today was £182. That included two ducks for Christmas Day lunch, lots of pickies for Christmas Day tea, a bottle of gin and ordinary day to day stuff like toiletries. I had already done my 'weekly' shop last Saturday (that was £120) so today's was more about Christmas itself. I have a £50 M&S order to collect tomorrow (cheese and cakes) and a £40 sea food platter from the local fish Quay. I had a £250 case of Christmas wine delivered at the start of December and the vast majority is still there. We are hosting for an additional 8 for Christmas lunch and another 5 on top for the buffet tea so we knew there'd be a cost involved. Our weekly grocery shop seems to have increased I price significantly over the past few years.

frazzledfragglefromfragglerock · 23/12/2021 20:29

I spent £130 in Aldi and £50 in food warehouse. It's only me, dh and 3 kids, no visitors and I included general weekly food in that so I don't have to go out again straight after Xmas!

I didn't buy much alcohol as we have some already so just added some cider. We don't drink much!

frazzledfragglefromfragglerock · 23/12/2021 20:30

I had already bought some stuff over the last month too.

jennymac31 · 23/12/2021 21:04

£150 - Tesco
£50 - M&S
£50 - Butchers
£30 - BrewDog beers (DH's birthday is on Christmas Eve so bought some craft beers for us).

LadyCatStark · 23/12/2021 22:07

About £230 but we had £113 in Nectar points and a £90 voucher from DH’s work so about £30 of our actual money. That’s for tomorrow’s buffet for my family and breakfast for DH’s parents, Christmas dinner, and a good few meals for between Christmas and new year.

Nat6999 · 23/12/2021 23:02

£350 on Ocado but that will last us 2 weeks, there is me, ds & my mum. The turkey alone cost £51 & there is ham, 2 bags of prawns, smoked salmon & bacon, I spent £100 on meat & fish. The rest was normal food except for all the cheese & pates. There was no alcohol, just alcohol free wine as I'm in recovery so nobody drinks.

mamaduckbone · 23/12/2021 23:53

Ours was about £200 for 2 adults, 2 teens but that included normal weekly shop stuff and quite a bit of drink. Spent another £20 at the farm shop and we already had some bits in - snacks, Christmas pud etc.
