How much has your food shop come to?

I’ve been out this morning. Did my whole shop in Booths, which is rare as it can be over priced… but it was quiet, compared to Aldi down the road! So I paid for less stress.

For 4 of us, 2 adults 2 kids under 13 it has cost me £162 for at least 3 days worth of meals, puddings, snacks and drinks.

I was thinking I’d done quite well!! But not I see it written down 🙈🙈

How are you guys getting on?

£85 in Aldi
£21 in B&M (top up wood for the log burner, birthday cards, a few bags of chocolate and some branston pickle)
£30 in Asda mainly on a gammon joint, sausages, porridge and bagels.

Doesn’t include the chicken or beef as we got those a few weeks ago and slung in freezer just in case. No one likes Turkey.

Marmite27 · 23/12/2021 12:39

But that’s for a weeks worth of breakfast, lunch and dinner.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 23/12/2021 12:39

I'm feeling better about mine now! £140 for 4 adults, a teenager and a 10 year old. To be fair I have been buying some bits ahead of time and wine is coming with the guests.

jingscrivvens · 23/12/2021 12:39

Was about £300, mostly in Aldi and then Sainsburys topup which I spent £65 Nectar points so that was good. This includes all the booze too. The turkey and other meat stuff from the farm has cost another £100 on top of that. There's 4 adults and 1 kid for the actual Christmas meal.
It's quite over the top when I write it down but when I look at it I wouldn't have thought it looked so bad.
The booze takes up quite a lot and that should do New year too

frogsbreath · 23/12/2021 12:40

£125, and we're not even making Xmas dinner! And I forgot butter
2 adults and one ds. Already tore into santas mince pies

Stompythedinosaur · 23/12/2021 12:42

Ours was £250 in tescos! But that includes food for the week, alcohol and we will have 8 people for Christmas. Doesn't include the main beef joint which we got separately.

Redlorryyellowlorryblue · 23/12/2021 12:43

It was about £300 in total from Tesco, M & S and COOK for 4 adults and 2 children for about 4 days.

MalbecandToast · 23/12/2021 12:44

About £450 for Xmas day and a party at ours boxing day. This includes a load of booze and buffet-type food, crackers, new tablecloth etc. Mix of Sainsbury's and M&S.

3peassuit · 23/12/2021 12:45

Just over £250 includes a couple of bottles of spirits and boxes of chocolates. To feed 3 adults and a 4 year old.

MrsLeclerc · 23/12/2021 12:48

£37 in Sainsburys for fruit, veg and cream and a few store cupboard bits. £75 in M&S for the meat and desserts. That’s for 2 adults and a toddler for 5 days.

We bought some wine and chutneys etc with our weekly shops in November.

fancyfrank1 · 23/12/2021 12:48

£180 no alcohol yet tho!

CharSiu · 23/12/2021 12:49

£250 that’s for four of us. DH and I are incredibly light drinkers, MIL is teetotal so DS has bought £50 of beer and cider. Our shop did include a bottle of champagne that was £30. I know his GF contribution will be buying a take away as she offered and is with us for a week.

CharSiu · 23/12/2021 12:50

A typo should be five of us.

AutumnAnn · 23/12/2021 12:51

£64, 2 adults, 1 toddler, 1 newborn. Everything got delivered yesterday, I'm finally feeling fully prepared and can relax

Headingnorthwoste · 23/12/2021 12:51

@Littlewhiteballs awww your post has warmed my cockles! Have a fabulous Christmas, everyone deserves to be treated with lovely food at Christmastime Xx

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 23/12/2021 12:53

£150 butcher
£250 Morrisons
£200 M&S

Most I've ever spent.

Should last a good while - just discovered I've ran out of tea bags. 🙄

7 adults and 4 children for Christmas Day.

Lots more informally on Boxing Day - if rules allow.

Miss2018 · 23/12/2021 12:53

£110 for the weekly shop from asda which includes the Xmas food (feeding 5 adults and 1 child Xmas day and 2 adults 1 child the rest of the week).

ParkheadParadise · 23/12/2021 12:55

£110 in M&S
£168.50 in Tesco this morning.
£40 to a neighbour for cupcakes/ cakes.
Fuck known what I will be in the butchers £££££'s
Tomorrow I'm going to get my hair and nails done then STRAIGHT home without visiting any more shops 🙉🙉

DSGR · 23/12/2021 12:55

No idea but hundreds with the booze

Headingnorthwoste · 23/12/2021 12:55

£110 Morrison’s food to order and £40 in the shop.

And I’ve got Covid so won’t be able to taste any of it Envy my sense of smell has totally gone!

desperatehousewife21 · 23/12/2021 12:57

Lidl this morning, food for today - Christmas Day including lots of party type food: £66!!

Was meant to be £76 but I had a £10 voucher but even so it still surprised me, feel like I’ve robbed them Xmas Grin

herestoyoucolinrobinson · 23/12/2021 12:57

Mine was about £160 but I’d saved all my nectar points and substitution coupons so it was about £55. Doesn’t include drinks but does include some normal weekly shop stuff.

Athomewiththehales89 · 23/12/2021 12:59

£84 just on the meat 😱

chafingstraightjacket · 23/12/2021 13:04

£59.27 thanks to Marcus Rashford.

That doesn't include the turkey, I bought a frozen one a few weeks ago.

No alcohol but a few treats like fruitcake, crisps and some Aldi chocolate.

Just me and 3 teens. The vouchers are a godsend. Smile

Livebythecoast · 23/12/2021 13:07

Only DH, DD18 and I for Christmas day so only about £50 - only 1 bottle of wine as DH doesn't drink and me occasionally. We did have a £100 Cote at Home voucher from work which was grateful received Xmas Smile
