How much has your food shop come to?

I’ve been out this morning. Did my whole shop in Booths, which is rare as it can be over priced… but it was quiet, compared to Aldi down the road! So I paid for less stress.

For 4 of us, 2 adults 2 kids under 13 it has cost me £162 for at least 3 days worth of meals, puddings, snacks and drinks.

I was thinking I’d done quite well!! But not I see it written down 🙈🙈

How are you guys getting on?

£150 for Sainsbury's shop, plus another £100 on alcohol and deli meats/cheeses

CrumpledCrumpet · 23/12/2021 13:50

Nearly £400 and we’re catering for 2 adults and 2 children. Does include food for 8 days, some Christmas gifts (about £30) and stocking up on gin etc that will last us far beyond Christmas. DH goes overboard on nuts, chocs etc that we’ll still be eating in March!

ISpyCobraKai · 23/12/2021 13:52

£94.
That's for a week with normal groceries too, though I will be spending another £30ish on a takeaway.
It's just me here.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 23/12/2021 13:54

£112 Waitrose for 2 of us but that’ll do us until the New Year apart from perhaps getting milk.

ISpyCobraKai · 23/12/2021 13:54

Also no alcohol, it's unlikely I'll drink at all but if I fancy it I'll pop to the Corner shop which is open every day.

AledsiPad · 23/12/2021 13:54

£100 in M&S and £120 in Sainsbury's. Sounds awful, but that is food for the whole week, as well as Christmas dinner etc, and includes beer, gin and nice soft drinks for DC.

We are a family of 6, but two of the DC eat adult portions (mid teens) and even the smaller ones like to eat a lot! Grin

I don't think we did too badly to be honest, my usual food budget for the week is around £100, so 'only' £120 extra for Christmas, including the alcohol.

We donated the food needed for a hamper to our local food bank too. I don't count that.

FairyBrights · 23/12/2021 13:56

19.58, tesco's various 19pence veg helped massively and is going to leave us with heaps of leftovee veg to do something with and freeze up. It's only the two of us and still managed to get some treats like some j2os (we don't drink alcohol!) , it's been a tough year but we're going to be eating good this Christmas!

Thepowerofthelook · 23/12/2021 13:57

For the week £50 for 1 adult, 3 teenagers (really 4 adults). One has a free from diet.

Blanketpolicy · 23/12/2021 13:58

Around £120 M&S Food to Order

£130 in Tesco but that included some biggies like £10 on a box of choc, quite a bit on cans of mixers, couple of jars of coffee, 2 food to order deserts which all add up to quite a bit. Next Tesco shop due to 27th.

Nothing on booze - big advantage of working for a drinks company and having an allowance, gifts, raffles prizes etc. I haven't been to the office all year and needed to use allowance before lost so picked up 18 bottles of spirits, 3 x 24 beers, and 5 x 10 premixed drinks yesterday 🤪. A few will be given away!

Quornflakegirl · 23/12/2021 13:59

My Tesco online shop is arriving soon and it’s £100, I spent another £60 in M&S yesterday. 2 adults and 2 nine year olds, food for 5 days plus Christmas Day.

Quornflakegirl · 23/12/2021 14:00

And £40 in the butchers which I had forgotten about so £200 total.

DirtyDancing · 23/12/2021 14:05

£250 Ocardo
£50 on Turkey, pigs in blankets, etc
£50 local shops on hits and bobs.
£50 Tesco booze, crisps and jars

UnsureAndUnsteady · 23/12/2021 14:11

I’ve just added mine up…Blush

About £750!!! BUT we had a small gathering yesterday for 20 for which I served drinks and buffet/party food and there are 12 people staying with use for the 3 days over Christmas. Included in that is “fizz” alcohol (but not wine as we get that delivered separately) and some family dinners (for 4) for about 5 days too. I’m feeling a bit shocked myself! Shock

Anjo2011 · 23/12/2021 14:19

Just short of £300, that’s for my family of four plus we have my parents for Christmas and Boxing Day.

ivykaty44 · 23/12/2021 14:22

£110, including two bottles of nice wine, but not any meat as DDs boss gave us all the meat as a Christmas bonus & all the bakery items - bread, croissants & mince pies.

that'll last us about 7/8 days though as cold meat and bubble or jacket spuds for supper a few times, with pickles.

Magnited · 23/12/2021 14:28

About £300 for the next ten days, but some base ingredients are already in the larder and we have some root vegetables and greens from the garden.

Now the drinks bill. Well, it would have been cheaper to buy a hectare in the corner of a vineyard in France. Blush

Not that I could these days of course.

SandandSplashes · 23/12/2021 14:36

Difficult to say. We've been to a few different stores and keep remembering other things so popping out to get more and more. I'd guess around £600 - £700 but we have a large extended family of (some) heavy drinkers and a lot of hungry teenage cousins that eat us out of house and home.

ItsSunnyOutside · 23/12/2021 14:51

Approx £150. We did the cheese and crackers plus chocolates last week. The main one is coming today. There are 3 of us and there's meals for a few days after too.

The100thHoliday · 23/12/2021 14:53

About £300 including some booze. Only four of us (2 adults, 2 teens), but I’ve got loads of treats in that will take us from Christmas Eve through to New Year, I reckon.

bellsbuss · 23/12/2021 14:54

About £425 for 16 adults and 4 children for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Alcohol wasn't included and was bought last month and was around £200. Bought from butchers, Sainsbury's, Lidl, M and S and Iceland's.

SockFluffInTheBath · 23/12/2021 14:56

The farm shop order which covers Christmas dinner was £70 (lamb not turkey). Another £50 for beef from elsewhere. Maybe £90 all in on beer and junk food. £10 Christmas pud. And due to Covid it’s just us now Xmas Grin

MeltedWax · 23/12/2021 15:00

£112, but paid for most of it in Nectar points!

MrsBerthaRochester · 23/12/2021 15:01

£150 for food and booze from Iceland but drank some of booze and had to replace.
£30 on a normal shop toilet roll, cleaning items etc.
£50 in home bargains on new serving dishes, table cloths, wine glasses and stuff for xmas table.
Thats for 2 adults and 3 dc.

Riverlee · 23/12/2021 15:03

Too much!

Megan2018 · 23/12/2021 15:03

About £450 but it’s mostly alcohol (18 bottles of wine and some spirits).I think the food was about £200.
