How much has your food shop come to?

I’ve been out this morning. Did my whole shop in Booths, which is rare as it can be over priced… but it was quiet, compared to Aldi down the road! So I paid for less stress.

For 4 of us, 2 adults 2 kids under 13 it has cost me £162 for at least 3 days worth of meals, puddings, snacks and drinks.

I was thinking I’d done quite well!! But not I see it written down 🙈🙈

How are you guys getting on?

About £120 for 4 adults and 2 very young kids. No alcohol.

That was £90 asda shop and I would estimate £30 for other bits
I'm not sure how much exactly because some of it has been bought in advance e.g. I got stuffing about 3 weeks ago and froze it, drinks were bought ages ago when on offer etc.

Metabigot · 23/12/2021 13:09

About £350 but that includes everything even basics we'd normally buy and should last til nye.

I let the kids put whatever they want in the trolley as a once a year treat

maddiemookins16mum · 23/12/2021 13:15

About £140 all in, spread over two deliveries over the last 8 days (fresh stuff coming at 4pm). MIL gets the turkey delivered to us from the butcher.

qualitygirl · 23/12/2021 13:15

We both get great hampers from work so we don't have to buy wine or treats so I have only spent about 30 more than normal really.

Silversun83 · 23/12/2021 13:16

£180 in Tesco (but with £55 of clubcard vouchers so only spending £125. For two adults and two children (5 and 3). But was nearly a week's shop on top, so normal dinners and lunches too.

TheCreamCaker · 23/12/2021 13:17

3 of us for curry on Christmas Day, 6 of us for a proper roast on Boxing Day. Spent £150 in Asda, I've yet to buy fresh fruits and veg plus some beers.

SpanielsAreMyLife · 23/12/2021 13:18

We spent £250 on our main Waitrose shop and £40 on our Riverford veg box but it got stolen from outside Sad

So I now have the horror of going into a supermarket and seeing what veg is left. And will no doubt spend at least £50 as there are 15 of us and I'm very obsessive about having bubble and squeak on boxing day!

Angrymum22 · 23/12/2021 13:20

I have no idea. The meat for Christmas until new year was £140 but from our farm shop butchers so all locally grown. Rest was Tescos but took DS17 and end up with a £50 of food supplements ( he is currently bulking up with a weight training program) so probably around £200. Lot of chicken for DS’s “diet”, he is doing PE Alevel so have his teachers to blame for that one.
Only three of us but I don’t want to venture out in the next two weeks.
We cook enough Christmas dinner to last about 4 days then I have a joint of beef and one of gammon to make sandwiches until the middle of Jan.

Bonnealle · 23/12/2021 13:21

£750 on 6 adults 😭. Did push the boat out this year a bit as we haven’t seen each other for ages. This includes Christmas and Boxing Day food, cheeses, wine, etc. I am expecting there to be wine and champagne left over though - I just didn’t want to run out.

ChoccySprinkles · 23/12/2021 13:21

Nothing! Well technically about £155 but I spent my hard earned nectar points on it. I didn’t even know you could spend nectar points on alcohol. I feel like a smug bitch.

Obsidiansphere · 23/12/2021 13:22

£150…but £50 of that was champagne 🥂

supertedious · 23/12/2021 13:23

Ours has come to £220 which includes the Turkey and drinks, snacks etc Confused. This is for 10 people on Christmas Day.

It should last from today until about Monday. It was more than I wanted to spend.....quiet January me thinks.

Diana8 · 23/12/2021 13:25

£42 for 3 adults for everything. Iceland and the local veg market.
We both lost our little business over the pandemic and are living on fresh air. I have £4.76 to my name.

Tulipsinmyvase · 23/12/2021 13:27

£260 on Tesco online, £65 at M&S and then a small local shop £45

Family of 5, but bought extra drinks and snacks as expecting some visitors for drinks/drop ins

Lozza70 · 23/12/2021 13:27

Loads of veg left in the couple of Sainsburys I’ve been in and potatoes, carrots, parsnips and Brussels on offer only 19p a pack. Easily feed the five thousand with £50Grin

RedCandyApple · 23/12/2021 13:28

Reading this has made me feel so much better! I’m a single mum with 4 kids and mine came to £200 🤦🏻 I thought this was crazy. With some Tesco’s vouchers I got it down to £165 so reading these have made me feel a lot better! Also everything was available and only a couple of sensible substitutes so I’m happy.

No idea.. 3 of us, eating out Xmas day and day after Boxing Day.. No hosting thank god. House is full of food and alcohol.

If it helps M&S veg was 40p, I went last night at 10pm (they're open until midnight tonight) and it was so so quiet and well stocked
LaurieFairyCake · 23/12/2021 13:36

£56

2 partridges, and the classic veg selection from M and S

shreddednips · 23/12/2021 13:37

£90 in Aldi, including a couple of gifts so probably more like £75. But our Christmas dinner is really cheap because we're veggie, it's almost entirely stollen, booze and snacks 😆 2 adults and 1 DC.

Oh no what a shame about the veg box, sorry to hear that 😭 there was plenty of veg today in our local Aldi and really cheap for the Xmas veg, I think it was 19p for potatoes, sprouts etc or something like that
Lovemusic33 · 23/12/2021 13:44

About £60

We don’t drink and I buy a few bits each week during nov/Dec but don’t really buy much at all.

My Turkey was £30, £10 on pudding and the rest on vegatable and cheese.

We get gifted so much chocolate so I don’t bother buying any.

Pegasussnail · 23/12/2021 13:44

I did well at €100 including the turkey for two adults 2 dc

But dh is teetotal and I have wine in for myself.
Also chucked in extra (Christmas cake, cranberry sauce etc) over the past few weeks and we are away on the 28th. So I'm chuffed to get it done for that amount

DragonMamma · 23/12/2021 13:46

£60 at the butchers
£200 on a booze run (but had £100 voucher to put towards this)
£120 in Tesco
£130 in Aldi

I can’t put a proper meal together until Christmas Day and we will be surviving on party food and snacks it would seem
