A star, an angel, something random... what's atop your tree?

Just a lighthearted and not-even-slightly scientific pool because I'm curious!

I'm preparing to be flamed here but I've just ordered a disco ball for the top of my thoroughly non-traditional and possibly garish tree 😁

A very big, very red, glittery star. Makes us look look like the local branch of the socialist workers party.

We have a llama.

Loving these. My silver star now seems sooooo boring. Off to google more interesting tree toppers!

A little silver beaded wire star that came free with a magazine about 15 years ago. Like a PP, I make sure the last fairy light is next to it to make it sparkle!

Previous years we have had a large gold star but we have to have a much smaller tree this year to accommodate a much larger gathering. One year my son printed out a picture of himself and stuck it on the top of the tree because he was such a gift! It was days before I noticed.

We have a kangaroo that goes in the nativity scene in honour of a cousin who was in Australia over Christmas one year and much missed by my oldest daughter.

I have bought a new tree and new decorations in a theme of my choosing egged on by youngest daughter to the despair of middle daughter. I haven't decided what is going on top yet but suspect it may be a small Steiff bear.

We have the toilet roll angels that the dcs made at school with photos of their heads on. They take it in turns to sit on top of the tree. They were put up as a temporary measure one year when I got fed up with our actual tree topper sitting drunkenly on the tree where it was too heavy but they come out every year now.

Dragons! Always dragons. Although they (all three of them) are suspended above the tree for safety. Theirs and ours

A santa. Dm bought me it when I moved out over 25 years ago. She also gave me a selection of baubles and figures from our family tree growing up.

I've started the same tradition with my dc, every year we choose a new bauble for our tree. It will be bursting when dc leave home with a bag full of memories from childhood Christmases. I hope they are not into themed decorations

I have my brothers ancient action man wearing gold tinsel pants. He is referred to as the Christmas fairy by all.

Big velvet bow on living room tree, gold star on kitchen tree and when we used to have a tree in dining room that had one of dds dressing up sparkly tiaras!

Forgot to add, elf on the shelf sits next to the star on kitchen tree, I pose him like he’s just climbed up and placed it on!

(Ps never done elf on the shelf for kids as it wasn’t a thing then. Bought him when they they were just coming into the shops here years ago, cause I liked to look of him!)

@SirSamuelVimes my Harry Potter tree is finally done.
It has sorting hat tree topper. Baubles of various houses or symbols , 30 winged keys (bastard to sort) 10 floating candles , house colours candy canes , my fairy lights are all house colours as well. And thrown a bit of lametta on it as the swish of spells

I kept scrolling past this thread on Active Convos and not bothering to open it, because I assumed it would be just people saying star/fairy/angel. How wrong I was ! Loving all these tree toppers (the beautiful and the frankly batshit) and feeling like my gold star is very boring now!

Etsy is your friend. The floating candles are Amazon. The dumbledore is actually a white Father Christmas 😂 Them keys though. Drove me mad. As daft as it sounds it took about 4 hours to get it all together as so many decs needed making

My DD put a bobble hat on top of ours 😂

We had a pair of birds that sat together at the top for a long time but the kids insisted on a tacky huge plastic star so now we have that lol.

The main tree downstairs has a very plain & boring star but the DS's have their own small tree upstairs which only has ice-hockey related decorations on it (they are OBSESSED) and it has a giant foam finger on top of it

I have the same start @Greaterthanthesumoftheparts has for me because I am originally DAnish and it doesn't get much more Danish than Georg Jensen. We have also got his candle holders and many of their Christmas decorations
