This is going to sound like an ad, but it isn't. So I won't mention the company name.

Its a lighter that sticks to the back of your phone sort of like a phone pop, and works like a car cigarette lighter, and you can recharge it, its totally safe so you can't accidently open it.

I bought it on offer and it just showed up and it looks so expensive and lovely.

Its the coolest thing I've bought in a long time, I'm very excited to give it on Christmas day Grin

Just wanted to share because I'm stupidly excited about Christmas and nobody in my rl cares about these quirky little gifts I manage to find, even though it is officially Christmas season now.

Any more little gifts that anyone is super excited to give then please share, I promise I'll be excited about it Grin

It's one for the CV/ Social Media bio for sure.

Kuachui · 03/11/2021 19:27

thank You! just got one for my dad :D

Evvyjb · 03/11/2021 19:29

I've just bought 2 for a couple! Thank you SO MUCH!

WeeTattieBogle · 03/11/2021 19:37

@WouldBeGood

Oooh… I could really go a fag now even though I quit years ago 🤣
42 years after quitting and despite hating the smell of cigarette smoke there are still the odd occasion when I fancy a fag.
ABCeasyasdohrayme · 03/11/2021 19:38

@MistyFrequencies

It's one for the CV/ Social Media bio for sure.
I don't have social media, and I don't think I would get very far with it on my CV tbh, might be off-putting for any potential employers, I might just wear it to parents night or tesco Grin

Thanks OP , just purchased a couple

ABCeasyasdohrayme · 03/11/2021 20:09

I was feeling a bit deflated because I couldn't use it due to facilitating, but not partaking in evil smoking, but I am very excited to get the candle lighter posted upthread tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a power cut so I have a real reason to use it before I put it in my drawer of gadgets I bought for no reason at all and never use 😂

I'm glad so many people like it, I showed it to my son who was very underwhelmed so I was starting to think it might just be me who thought it was awesome.

I can't wait until Christmas now that this thread has given me the warm and fuzzy festive vibe. Might put my tree up this weekend and start a thread about it 😂

@BeyondShrinks, my candle lighter arrived today, thank you so much for the recommendation. I've been lighting candles and blowing them out again all day 😂

My kids really jump at the noise of it though, they said it's like that noise that only under 25s can hear, like a dog whistle Confused it's really quiet to me. It's going to be a game changer for BBQs in the summer I think.

I bought the coolest present for the smoker in my life today.

@Capferret

I wish I knew a smoker now so I could buy one. I love a cool gadget.
You wish that someone you care about had a fatal addiction?
Babdoc · 04/11/2021 16:42

My views are coloured by 36 years as a hospital doctor, and in particular the Christmas Eve I spent on the diagnostic bronchoscopy list, having to tell six smokers with newly diagnosed lung cancer that this would be their final Christmas.
I don’t understand why anyone would want to encourage someone they love to continue an addiction that kills 50% of its addicts.

ABCeasyasdohrayme · 04/11/2021 16:54

I don't think me purchasing a lighter will influence them either way tbh.

Again, this is the Christmas board, I was just sharing a little gadget I found to give someone as a Christmas present, not asking for a moral judgement on my character. It's not like I'm buying them 800 regal King size and a wrap of heroin.

@ABCeasyasdohrayme

I don't think me purchasing a lighter will influence them either way tbh.

It's obviously showing approval and support for an addiction that has a pretty good chance of directly resulting in their death.

I used to be a heavy smoker as did many of my friends. Happily they have all given up now. I was so happy for each of them when they did. I would never have encouraged them or tacitly condoned it by buying this.

BudgeSquare · 04/11/2021 17:00

@Jelldjjdbdbd

dont know why so many people are hating on this. i dont smoke myself but i think this is a really cool product and posting it on here is not promoting smoking in any way.

Buying chocolates at christmas for a fat person is social acceptable so why isnt it ok to buy a smoker this cool lighter?

I wouldn't buy chocolate for a friend who was morbidly obese or diabetic. Would you?
WouldBeGood · 04/11/2021 17:01

Sounds like an order from an ice cream van that @ABCeasyasdohrayme🤣 I’d add a 99 for ds but he might die of obesity 🤷🏻‍♀️

ABCeasyasdohrayme · 04/11/2021 17:07

I'm sure when you were smoking you shared your cigarettes, offered people a light etc, both of which I have never done because I've never smoked. I have simply bought a present I know he will love.

Thank you for your thoughts though. I'll be sure to enclose a lecture in his Christmas card.

Merry Christmas everyone, I'll maybe post what I've bought my dc so you can tell me I'm melting the ice caps, or that my dc will choke, or suffocate as a result of my reckless gift giving. Jeeeeez 😂😂

Why do you keep posting that 'crying laughing' emoji? None of it is funny. Is it better than actually listening to what people are saying- including those with direct experience of the very common effects of smoking?

Smoking kills. It's not a rare, unlikely, indirect effect or a marginal risk. Fatal or serious permanent harm is the most likely outcome of your friend/relative continuing to smoke.

There is a middle ground between giving them a lecture and actively condoning them killing themselves. It's a shit thing to do.

BurbageBrook · 04/11/2021 17:13

I’m a non-smoker but I wonder if the angry posters are just as critical when someone buys alcohol as a present, which is also a carcinogen. We can’t prevent people’s addictions by hoiking up our judgy pants.

Iamanicepersonreally · 04/11/2021 17:16

I almost wish I hadn't quit. Not sure how it'd work if you've got a phone case though

ABCeasyasdohrayme · 04/11/2021 17:17

I keep posting it because I'm on the Christmas board, sharing a Christmas gift and people are giving their opinions like I'm on AIBU, or that I've bought a puppy especially for kicking. It's actually ridiculous that you assume I don't have experience or that you have the monopoly on seeing awful things.

Thanks for your thoughts though I guess.

Iamanicepersonreally · 04/11/2021 17:21

I think it's a great gift OP

VallarMorghulis · 04/11/2021 17:29

Brilliant find OP! I've also started my Christmas shopping!

ABCeasyasdohrayme · 04/11/2021 17:36

Thanks, I hope he likes it.

I'm nearly done my shopping now.

The other gift I have I'm very excited to give to one of my dc is a Bob Ross toaster which cooks little Bob ross silhouettes onto your toast. Who even knew that was a thing 😂
