I have just ordered dh a t shirt to replace a favourite one he bought in the States many years ago that is falling to pieces. He will love this.
Other than that and the usual toblerone/beer I have no idea what to get him!
My dad is also hard to buy for so I just wondered what everyone else was getting for male relatives/partners for a bit of inspiration!

@jocktamsonsbairn

I have just ordered my 19yo ds a flying lesson at our local airport - in fact with the bargainous deal I got he's getting 2 x 30 mins lessons for less than the price of one 30 mins lesson! I am so excited and happy right now as he was the one I was stuck on! It was with Buyagift and I went via Quidco for 16% cash back. Then code YULE gets you 21% off, rising to 23% off if over £100. So I got a gift that is normally around £260 for £113 (not counting the cash back). Plus he will absolutely love it. Loads of experiences on there and no min spend.
That sounds absolutely brilliant, what an amazing experience!

Following! Slippers and Whisky here so far but want a couple more things specifically for him. Those shower steamers look lovely. Looking for Comic and gaming themed suggestions if anyone has any!

His birthday is early Dec and his presents are half baby centred (he will be a first time Dad come February) so want to make sure his Christmas is baby stuff free (got this and this along with a mini Man U strip for baby in case anyone needs Dad inspo!)

TrickyD · 07/11/2021 14:37
@Not2daySatan

Can you recommend any flavours of those shower steamers?
Another request for recommendations please, especially ones for teenage boys other than peppermint.
The Italia one? Or Citrus?

TrickyD · 07/11/2021 15:42

Sorry, I missed CoffeeChocolateWine’s list of shower steamers. Thanks.

Do these need proper enclosed showers to be any good or would they be OK with shower curtains and bath?

CoffeeChocolateWine · 07/11/2021 17:41

@TrickyD, I think the lime, basil and mandarin was recommended upthread. I purposefully went for scents that were slightly Christmassy but most of them were bought for girls (I have lots of nieces!) The peppermint one was for my DS.

supadupapupascupa · 07/11/2021 19:56

Thanks for the tip whoever it was.....

Two ticket to war of the worlds purchased. Babysitter organised. He will LOVE this!

Think that was me!! My dad will love it and I'm kinda regretting not getting myself a ticket too!! Hope you enjoy!
TheSunIsStillShining · 07/11/2021 21:08
 • a calendar with pigs :) - yes, this will be the main gift and he will love it
 • a digger experience to be had in the summer
 • a samsung tablet

we are not too keen on knickknacks, so maybe some belgian choc and that's it.

TheSunIsStillShining · 07/11/2021 21:09

for my dad: any book about ww2 or ancient history, wireless charger station

FruityPolos · 07/11/2021 21:19

I have got DP a Bluetooth speaker from www.divoom.com, you can change the pixel picture via an app on your phone, they look like 80s game graphics and as a gamer he will love that!

For DF birthday last year I got a biscuit subscription from Biscuit Barron which went down well, you get a box of biscuits from different parts of the world each month.

TabithaTiger · 07/11/2021 21:42

This thread is brilliant, thank you all so much for so many great ideas.

I've just ordered shower steamers for both DS, SiL and DM (thank you for the discount code.

For 22 year old DS1 - Only Fools and Horses Monopoly, oversize blanket hoodie, tickets for a show, Star Wars Lego, Corduroy shirt, Dave Grohl's book, Harry's hair tamer

20 year old DS2 - Oversize hoodie. DS2 is really hard to buy for as he lives at home and had plenty of disposable income, so just buys whatever he wants.

FIFA for Switch for DN

Still need ideas for DB and DF.

HumbugWhale · 07/11/2021 22:21

@TheSunIsStillShining please can I ask where you booked a digger experience? Just wondering if they might do anything for kids, ds is a bit of an enthusiast! I suspect he is too young for any kind of experience but it would be useful for future reference.

Random but I'm looking at getting DH a mini projector for Christmas that is compatible with both Samsung and Apple phones, just wondered if anyone could recommend one?

I've also got him a coffee subscription, slippers, a new belt and tile trackers because her forever misplacing his wallet and keys!

MahMahMahMahCorona · 07/11/2021 23:15

@Cherryrainbow

He's only asked for the grand theft auto remastered coming out for ps5 later this month.

I've also got him:

Tolkiens unfinished tales
The punisher tshirt
Kraken rum and glass
Yu gi oh cards
Pre ordered the new James bond movie on blu ray
Probably getting a cd as well

I just tried pre-ordering James Bond and it's saying it can't deliver to my address? Ordered Tolkien's Silmarillion too which is coming tomorrow no problem - so it's not my address / Amazon. Anyone else having the same issue?

Lovelydiscusfish · 07/11/2021 23:39

Great thread! Mine are really hard to buy for, us I don’t have much money…. So far have got:

DF (in his 90s, has dementia):
Photo coasters featuring DD, who is his beloved only grandchild.
DVD of Unforgiven, as miraculously my mum mentioned the film to him the other day and he knew it was a Clint Eastwood film (he remembers nothing these days, and can’t have seen it for years. Plus he used to love Westerns).

My partner (who is very non-materialistic and never really wants anything):
A framed print of our favourite poem that we bonded over when we first met.
A framed postcard of the place we first kissed. (See a theme emerging here)
A second hand copy of Down and Out in Paris and London, as he we’ve talked about it and he’s never read it.
A red bandana I don’t think he’ll wear but I think he would look hot in it.
A key-ring featuring the flag for his sexuality (he is not heterosexual. Neither will he especially want this - I just got excited when I learnt it had a flag!)
A couple of more intimate gifts I won’t describe here, which are just as much for me!

DB (who is hard to buy for as he is just a bit weird, tho nice too).
A second hand jigsaw, and I was then informed today by mom that he only did them in lockdown.
A mug featuring Meghan Markle, who he has a massive crush on…..

These are basically a pretty shit selection of gifts when I look at them written down! I will trawl this thread to come up with other ideas.

Also need to buy for:
My male best friend - unless I can think of a book he’d like might just get something for his dogs, as I do every year.

My former step-son who is mid-twenties - all I can think of is a t-shirt featuring cats, which I get him every year….

ARGH!

TheSunIsStillShining · 07/11/2021 23:59

@HumbugWhale
Diggerland. Haven't booked it yet.... It does look like it is more for adults :)

HumbugWhale · 08/11/2021 08:21

@TheSunIsStillShining thank you, I would love to take him to diggerland. It's white far from us though.

I'm getting an audio library subscription for my dad and a new tripod for my dp. I'm waiting for a Black friday deal on Photoworks Ultimate for him, too.

FrangipaniBlue · 08/11/2021 11:08

@HKV76

I’ve got my DP a Phillips perfect draft and a keg to go in it. Bit pricy but he deserves it and I hope he’ll love it. Other than that I’ve got him some chilli chocolate and im going to get him some shower steamers, a spicery box, bacon subscription and maybe some aftershave and/or new jeans
This is what I wanted to get DH but he's mainly a Guinness drinker and they don't do it!

So if anyone knows of something similar but that does Guinness I would be eternally grateful for a link Grin

TuftyMarmoset · 08/11/2021 11:34

I’ve just discovered Tile from another thread and will definitely be buying one for DP now. They’re Bluetooth things you can attach to keys, wallet etc so that your DP/DH can find them without asking you where they are Wink

@HumbugWhale just wanted to add, Diggerland is not just for adults.
My son's nursery did a trip to Diggerland and all the kids enjoyed it :)

HumbugWhale · 08/11/2021 19:31

@Loulouli thanks, I'll have a look at the website. It's quite far from us but might be a good birthday trip or something next year.

I am now thinking of getting the tile things for my mum, she would enjoy those I think as well as finding them useful.

On a similar thread last year someone suggested this book:
The Red Atlas, Cold War maps of The World. The edition I got was just maps of Britain.

Sorry for long link.
I got it for my BIL last year and he loved it.

desperatehousewife21 · 10/11/2021 07:02
