I've taken the tree down. Anyone else?

I'm so pleased to have taken it down, I don't like Christmas anyway but will be having dgs 18 months again from Wednesday and him taking the baubles off has driven me mad tbh. Dd took hers down yesterday for the same reason. The house feels bigger and tidier and cleaner without it as well so a real bonus.

Me! I've left some lights up but the tree and other random decorations have gone.

StealthPolarBear · 28/12/2020 14:48

Yes yesterday. Dh has stopped sneezing and the place just feels cleaner. One of my favourite parts of Christmas

alex1889 · 28/12/2020 14:48

Took it down Christmas Day evening once DC were in bed. Can't stand the thing taking up half the sitting room and dropping it's needles everywhere.

I also have toddler DC, OP, and couldn't stand the throwing of the baubles (most of which smashed!).

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 28/12/2020 14:49

Tonight’s job, would like the space back and it looks much tidier without the tree and decorations.

CaramelCandle · 28/12/2020 14:51

Just took mine down this morning

madcatladyforever · 28/12/2020 14:51

i never put one up.

Trailing1 · 28/12/2020 14:53

Took ours down this morning. I love putting it up but taking it down feels like a pain in the arse like no other.

Pascha · 28/12/2020 14:54

All done yesterday. Just the outside lights left til next weekend.

hopeishere · 28/12/2020 14:54

I need to know if this is inversely proportional to when you put them up?!

TokyoSushi · 28/12/2020 14:56

I'm just starting to slowly take things down, non family cards, Christmas ornaments etc, will leave the tree and outside lights up until New Year's Day.

Fabuleuse · 28/12/2020 14:57

Nope. We do the 12 days of Christmas here and take it down on the Epiphany or as close to it as practical.

Same here.
alltheadrenalin · 28/12/2020 15:01

Mine went down Boxing Day

Ilikewinter · 28/12/2020 15:02

Took it down yesterday morning and it was really nice to have a good and proper tidy up!

VinylDetective · 28/12/2020 15:02

6 January here but ours was only put up on 19 December.

Plussizejumpsuit · 28/12/2020 15:04

No I love Christmas. This feels quite grim to me tbh.

FreezerBird · 28/12/2020 15:06

Mine only went up on Christmas Eve. There would be an outcry if it came down before Epiphany.

Abracadabra12345 · 28/12/2020 15:08

Oh god, why shortchange Christmas especially THIS Christmas when it has been the one bright light for many? We have an artificial tree so don’t have any needles drop but we love having the room lights off and read / talk / watch tv by the lights of the Christmas tree. It’s magical. I don’t want to cheat myself of a single day of those twelve days of Christmas.

Mind you, my kids are grown up so I do get the toddlers / mess / lack of space thing. I will be sad when the tree comes down

Yes!!!

We do the decorating taking down on NYD .
We didn't put the decorations up till mid Dec anyway so I'm not fed up loking at them , though I would be if they'd gone up too early .

Fake tree here , lights , no baubles .....and the cats have been better behaved this year . Last year the tree last less than 4 days with Female Cat attacking it . She's been more restrained* this year .

  • by restrained , her choice . I havent tied her up or anything Xmas Wink
TiddyTid · 28/12/2020 15:10

Yes. Need some kind of "normal" back

GintyMcGinty · 28/12/2020 15:10

Not till after Hogmanay.

It might be shit this year but we will still have our steak pie and decorations up for it.

Aquamarine1029 · 28/12/2020 15:10

Not yet but it's on my list of shit to do today. I'm ready for it to go, honestly.

lazylinguist · 28/12/2020 15:11

Nope, I take mine down on New Year's Day. It takes up one corner of one room - how can it make the whole house look messy or smaller? I don't put mine up until at least 15th December, so I'm not sick of the sight of it by Boxing Day! I've kept it well-watered, so it hasn't lost many needles tbh.

ArtemisBean · 28/12/2020 15:12

Coming down on Friday so we've got the weekend to square up before going back to work. Bugger all to celebrate this year and am going slowly out of my mind, so can't wait to get rid and start January with a fresh slate.
