*************************Mumsnet Christmas Appeal 2006***********************************

1000 replies

soapbox · 24/11/2006 19:27

I thought I had better start a new thread in case the old one falls over at 1000 posts.

First of all I would like to say a big thank you to all those who have helped make this a huge success Thanks to all of you, life will be a little bit easier for some of our MNetters this year!

Firstly all of the MNetters - without you this would only have been a pipe dream! Givers and receivers - all take a bow

Then the corporates:
GLTC - for going well beyond the call of duty
Hazell -www.verko.co.uk- for her most generous offer of christmas trees - I hope you join in and make some new friends here
Great expectations - a lovely company with wonderful fairtraded toys and again help beyond what was expected.
LCC - to Jaysmummy for her crafty goodies and warm hearted support
www.thesweetiestop.co.uk - for their generous support

And of course it goes almost without saying, MNHQ!

**

How it works:

You email me:

[email protected]

as a giver or receiver. If a receiver I will ask for a bit more information to find a good match for you. If a giver I will find someone for you to send your gift to.

All matches to be done by 30 November (did I really promise that)

All gifts to be posted by 15 December (at the latest).

sorry for being a bitg dense, just wanted to confirm what to do: if i want to give something, i email you soapbox with details, then i post them off to you or the receiver???

Gingerbear · 24/11/2006 19:50

Ok, ta Soapbox.
Will start sorting out pressies now.

ShinyHappyStarOfBethlehem · 24/11/2006 19:50

I have just wrapped my parcels of stocking fillers for my receivers.. just wanted to say, re all the talk of wrapping, that I didn't wrap mine because I thought the receivers would want to see what they were putting into the sacks.

I also haven't identified myself in the parcels, and if you think this post is a clue (those of you who receive sack novelties in the post in the next few days), it isn't.. because there are a lot of people sending stocking fillers..

so ner!

PeachyClair · 24/11/2006 19:50

you post to the address you're sent yes, exactly right

ShinyHappyStarOfBethlehem · 24/11/2006 19:52

*I meant, of course, in that very contradictory post below, that I WRAPPED them in outer wrapping, for purposes of posting.. but not in inner Christmas wrap..

Don't I talk a lot of old sh*te sometimes!

[people need not agree.. ]

soapbox · 24/11/2006 19:53

Actually PC

I am about 1/2 way through the G's which is not actually as good as it sounds as when I get to J I have about a 100 emails which I forwarded from my other email account to go through! So J will be a rather long one to do

I have also got about 70emails in my inbox of which about 1/2 are new offers of help. I promise I will get to you soon

As with all these things though, I have made little refinements to how I do things as I've gone on, so it is speeding up a bit

hi soapy

don't wanna hassle you but are you doing this alphabetically by RL name or MN name?

;-)

puddytats · 24/11/2006 19:58

Soapy, have looked thro my bits and bobs and can manage afew more than said if need be and can also do styles for children as well if other mnetters have older children that might want something different. Just let me know. Not been at work today so not checked emails if you have already given me my list

FrivolentDemon · 24/11/2006 19:59

With the letters are you doing recievers are a,b,c etc, or the givers are a,b,c?

If it is the givers... I'm an F and not had anything (tell me to leave you alone and wait - tis fine )

Tickle · 24/11/2006 20:01

Have just ordered a pressie from GLTC (what a lovely company ) for a little one I don't know, many miles away.

Feeling all mushy!!

Soapy - this is what Christmas is all about. Yay!!

NYceMummy · 24/11/2006 20:02

I think soapy must be doing it by RL name as I already have my match! HTH

Tickle · 24/11/2006 20:04

BTW, didn't get the option to wrap or add a message, so just incorporated Mumsnet into the address, so the parcel can be opened when LO isn't watching.

FrivolentDemon · 24/11/2006 20:06

I'm a C in rl too... which is why I am wondering - wasn't sure if she is going through and doing Alexandra needs to recieve x,y,z - then emailing those who need to give to A etc.

All far too confusing!

Fattymumma · 24/11/2006 20:08

leave her alone and wait

seriously i think it is fantastic that there are so many amazingly generous people her on MN. But Soapy is doing a hell of a big job single handedly and totally out of the goodness of her heart.

It must be a mammoth task dealing with everyones willingness to help but please all bear with her. if at the 30th you still haven't heard then email, until then let her get on with matching everyone to their reciever.
