I thought I had better start a new thread in case the old one falls over at 1000 posts.

First of all I would like to say a big thank you to all those who have helped make this a huge success Thanks to all of you, life will be a little bit easier for some of our MNetters this year!

Firstly all of the MNetters - without you this would only have been a pipe dream! Givers and receivers - all take a bow

Then the corporates:
GLTC - for going well beyond the call of duty
Hazell -www.verko.co.uk- for her most generous offer of christmas trees - I hope you join in and make some new friends here
Great expectations - a lovely company with wonderful fairtraded toys and again help beyond what was expected.
LCC - to Jaysmummy for her crafty goodies and warm hearted support
www.thesweetiestop.co.uk - for their generous support

And of course it goes almost without saying, MNHQ!

**

How it works:

You email me:

[email protected]

as a giver or receiver. If a receiver I will ask for a bit more information to find a good match for you. If a giver I will find someone for you to send your gift to.

All matches to be done by 30 November (did I really promise that)

All gifts to be posted by 15 December (at the latest).

I almost wish i'd kept up the Psych component of my degree just to do a dissertation on this thread LOL

Have you noticed its GIVERS who are most anxious to hear???

And this is a fittinga nswer to all those old biddies who moan on teletext / daily mail about the lack of blitz spitit!

Just as an aside did anyone see the interview about afrepak on BBC news this am? Totally obnoxious man who kept saying it was a mistake made by teh FAMILLIES< Farepakw eren't responsible... even the newspeople looked like they wanted to throttle him!

ShinyHappyStarOfBethlehem · 25/11/2006 17:58

I would like to publically say a HUGE and MASSIVE thank *you to our wonderful giver ^FoxInSocks who is arranging for DS1 (age 14) to go with his god father to see Chelsea play at Fulham on 30th Dec..

I can't say describe how much this will mean to DS

He has never been to see his heroes play before although has wanted to badly for just about ever. And last year he had a big disappointment when my mum nominated him for a wish with the Starlight Foundation (a charity who arrange wishes for serious ill children - DS has cystic fibrosis) and DS chose to meet some of the Chelsea team.. this was almost arranged by Starlight and Chelsea dropped out at the last minute (apparently they 'stopped inviting sick kids to their ground' ). He got abother fab wish granted instead but has never got over almost going to see Chelsea..

To see them play will SO make his Christmas.. I am going to tell him on Christmas day.. And we are going to let him go with his God father rather than DH as he is a die-hard Chelsea fan and the one who got him into Chelsea.. (DS was brought up on Liverpool.. DH almost keeled over when DS converted... )

FoxInSocks you are totally great.. and so, of course, is Soapy...

Thank you, Thank you, Thank You..

If anyone is ever disillusioned with what Christmas sometimes seems to have become, then they need to come a look at these threads. The true spirit of Christmas is all over them... [sob]

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 25/11/2006 18:01

munz · 25/11/2006 18:03

even DH has only just grasped the full extent of it,.

munz · 25/11/2006 18:04

come on girls big group hug, every one get in on this!!

(((Hugs)))

you lot really are amazing

spub · 25/11/2006 18:05

God, this is fab.
Soapy you are a kind hearted logistical genius. Mumsnetters involved - you are bloody wonderful.
I'm not in the least impatient to hear who I'm being matched with - just really happy to think that we can do our bit to help another mumsnetter and her family have a better Crimbo that would otherwise have been the case.
Think it's fab that givers have been explaining how it all works to their children; this is EXACTLY what Christmas should be about.
I think that an enormous group hug is in order.

FrivolentDemon · 25/11/2006 18:05

SHSB - That is amazing

Nemoinapeartree · 25/11/2006 18:08
