*************************Mumsnet Christmas Appeal 2006***********************************

1000 replies

soapbox · 24/11/2006 19:27

I thought I had better start a new thread in case the old one falls over at 1000 posts.

First of all I would like to say a big thank you to all those who have helped make this a huge success Thanks to all of you, life will be a little bit easier for some of our MNetters this year!

Firstly all of the MNetters - without you this would only have been a pipe dream! Givers and receivers - all take a bow

Then the corporates:
GLTC - for going well beyond the call of duty
Hazell -www.verko.co.uk- for her most generous offer of christmas trees - I hope you join in and make some new friends here
Great expectations - a lovely company with wonderful fairtraded toys and again help beyond what was expected.
LCC - to Jaysmummy for her crafty goodies and warm hearted support
www.thesweetiestop.co.uk - for their generous support

And of course it goes almost without saying, MNHQ!

**

How it works:

You email me:

[email protected]

as a giver or receiver. If a receiver I will ask for a bit more information to find a good match for you. If a giver I will find someone for you to send your gift to.

All matches to be done by 30 November (did I really promise that)

All gifts to be posted by 15 December (at the latest).

Is "London" close enough, soapy?

xmasmummy · 24/11/2006 22:47

soapy you there???

Gingerbear · 24/11/2006 22:48

Soapbox, I have Marsy's address.

NorksBride · 24/11/2006 22:53

My DD1 (who is off school sick) and I wrapped our presents this morning. It was really nice explaining to her what Mumsnet was doing (it was also nice explaining what Mumsnet IS)!! We're carting the box off to the Post Office tomorrow.

DD1 thinks MN is lovely!

soapbox · 24/11/2006 22:56

xmasmummy · 24/11/2006 23:04

cant think of anyone who would like a tandem, i just bought a new one today but i not in kent anyway

mustrunmore · 24/11/2006 23:06

Soapbox; off the top of your head, are there any london based receivers that would benefit from a family trip to a London attraction? Might be able to wangle a family of 5 or so, but would need to be pre xmas ,or after xmas if dh helps out (ds1 will be in nursery then, so I cant stray too far), as someone would need to meet them there to get them in, so would have to be suitable time for all concerned! and I say London family as they'd have to pay to get here otherwise! Or does that sound too much hassle?

sam27 · 24/11/2006 23:13

Hi I am the one with the mothercare double tandem pushchair! Just wanted to add that we will be driving from Kent to Suffolk on the weekend of Dec 16th so could drop the pushchair in Essex or Suffolk?

soapbox · 24/11/2006 23:25

Mustrunnomore - I am sure there will be families who would be delighted to receive that kind of gift

Particularly if I was able to ask one of my other givers to pay for rail tickets etc

SoMuchToBits · 24/11/2006 23:28

Just had your matching e-mail Soapy - thanks!!!

soapbox · 24/11/2006 23:33

We've had an offer of a play station 2 and as it is a biggish gift I don't want to send it out with out knowing that the family actually need it

First receiver already listed with suitably aged children gets it

OP posts:
ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 24/11/2006 23:35

Wow that's a generous gift. We already have one.
Someones DC are going to be really thrilled.

PinkTinsel · 24/11/2006 23:51

some kids are going to be so delighted at that ps2! this thread keeps making me grin from ear to ear at peoples generosity

pity i'm not london based though as my poor back would appreciate the buggy... ds is getting heavy!

NorksBride · 25/11/2006 01:26

DH is a world-renowned technical genius. He is on lots of internet communities and he is lost in admiration at the power of Mumsnet.

THIS IS SUCH A POWERFUL LOBBY! (Sorry to shout but this is what communities should be like, RL or net).

Ellbell · 25/11/2006 01:28

Where are you PinkTinsel? I have a tandem (one-behind-the-other) buggy (in W.Yorkshire) that I need to get rid of... You can have it if you're in the local area...

Mhamai · 25/11/2006 01:31
