soapbox · 24/11/2006 19:27

I thought I had better start a new thread in case the old one falls over at 1000 posts.

First of all I would like to say a big thank you to all those who have helped make this a huge success Thanks to all of you, life will be a little bit easier for some of our MNetters this year!

Firstly all of the MNetters - without you this would only have been a pipe dream! Givers and receivers - all take a bow

Then the corporates:
GLTC - for going well beyond the call of duty
Hazell -www.verko.co.uk- for her most generous offer of christmas trees - I hope you join in and make some new friends here
Great expectations - a lovely company with wonderful fairtraded toys and again help beyond what was expected.
LCC - to Jaysmummy for her crafty goodies and warm hearted support
www.thesweetiestop.co.uk - for their generous support

And of course it goes almost without saying, MNHQ!

**

How it works:

You email me:

[email protected]

as a giver or receiver. If a receiver I will ask for a bit more information to find a good match for you. If a giver I will find someone for you to send your gift to.

All matches to be done by 30 November (did I really promise that)

All gifts to be posted by 15 December (at the latest).

xmasmummy, just a thought and I am no one much on here, but perjaps you could put the card making bits in an envelope and call it a christmas craft set?

soapbox · 24/11/2006 21:13

KBear - that might be fun- maybe next weekend to parcel up some of the corporate gifts we are getting!

I'll email you once I have received everything

xmasmummy · 24/11/2006 21:24

thats not a bad idea hun

TheArcAngelTLV · 24/11/2006 21:27

you really are an angel

TheArcAngelTLV · 24/11/2006 21:29

Would be a nice idea to put in a nice xmas card too for the families receiving (anon)

PeachyClair · 24/11/2006 21:32

It would be nice to put a card in, might get the kids to make- they could learn a lot about what Christmas really is by helping

Aero · 24/11/2006 21:33

I was wondering that too Bozza as I only have a couple of smallish gifts in the house to send and can't afford a lot, but want to buy a gift too. If a few of us were matched to the same receiver (assuming there are more givers than receivers), it would work out better perhaps.

PeachyClair · 24/11/2006 21:35

There were more givers than recievers yesterday iirc and more have joined in {grin] So I may be wrong but I guessed that's how it works?

Plus, one eprson might send pressies another clothes another food..... all different but add them together and you have one fab Christmas

SisterOfSoapbox · 24/11/2006 21:35

Sorry I haven't posted an update - been busy beavering away in the background! Just to let you know that we have had another kind donation from www.twinkleontheweb.co.uk of a variety of Childrens Clothing! How wonderful is that!

Soapy - can you check the email I've forwarded to you from twinkle and forward the details regarding delivery etc??? Some information I don't have!

Anyways - back to my emails - have fun everyone

xmasmummy · 24/11/2006 21:36

think i will put together a few craft packs and get kids to make some cards too. might make some myself too.

xmasmummy · 24/11/2006 21:38

dont forget, loads of people would prob like some christmas decs too, they may not be able to afford to decorate house and sometimes the decs and lights are the best part of xmas

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 24/11/2006 21:46

wow another wonderful company donating goods. Thats great.

fussymummy · 24/11/2006 21:49

I read on one post that there was about 70 receivers!!!

Don't know where that figure came from.

Think it may have been Hazell so maybe soapy told her!!!!

Who knows and who really cares?????

I hope there's enough givers for the receivers, and who says you can't give to more than one family????!!!!!!!!!!

I think it's great to enclose wrapping paper so that families who thought they were going to have a crap christmas, can join in the fun by wrapping for their own kids. IYSWIM!!!!

I can't wait to find out who i'm sending to, i have a HUGE bag of things sat next to my PC, so there ready and waiting!!!!!

willowcatkin · 24/11/2006 22:01

Would it be OK do you think for my dd to make a card to go with the gifts?

she is 5 and not too bad at drawing and colouring (in her own inimitable way lol).

I have already mentioned what is going on to her and she has asked if she can do a card?

Posey · 24/11/2006 22:03

I tjonk that is a wonderful thing, makes it a whole family affair. Will probably get ds to make a glittery card, he loves it.

mustrunmore · 24/11/2006 22:04

Soapy, I've prob just messed up your logical system by sending you another email sorry!

Posey · 24/11/2006 22:04

Oh dear, too much wine.
Should read I think

crunchie · 24/11/2006 22:05

this is so brill corporate people joining too I really hope I can help someone who really needs it this year

PeachyClair · 24/11/2006 22:05

willow my son has made a card already LOL, I think its excellent that they can help with this- far more valuable to give them the gift of caring than yet another selection pack

munz · 24/11/2006 22:05

wow another company have come on board - twinkle ont he web. it really is going to be a good xmas this year for everyone

galaxy · 24/11/2006 22:06

I told dd who her gifts were going to today and she asked if she could pretend to be FC and delier them herself. As they live miles away, t'would be a little difficult bless her.

saltire · 24/11/2006 22:15

When i posted before i had only had three or four or six vodkas! Imagine forgetting what my own name started with.
Still they were only 70p so i wasn't complaining.
I have got my match, i am not going to wrap the things, so the parents can see what they are getting.

MerlinsBeard · 24/11/2006 22:24

I know its one email out of a million but i wondered if i had given u enough information soapy? (i am the musicianswidow btw in email) assuming though you will contact me if not?

soapbox · 24/11/2006 22:38

Does anyone know roughly where Marslady lives? I have a logistical issue to sort out for one of her customers

OP posts:
xmasmummy · 24/11/2006 22:41

i have just put together 4 little craft packs to donate. each one contains a blank card and envelope, a tube of glitter glue, an xmas roller stamp and some funky foam sticky xmas shapes. would have loved to do bigger pack but only had little bags to put them in. soapy can you let me know where to send them please?
