1000 replies

soapbox · 24/11/2006 19:27

I thought I had better start a new thread in case the old one falls over at 1000 posts.

First of all I would like to say a big thank you to all those who have helped make this a huge success Thanks to all of you, life will be a little bit easier for some of our MNetters this year!

Firstly all of the MNetters - without you this would only have been a pipe dream! Givers and receivers - all take a bow

Then the corporates:
GLTC - for going well beyond the call of duty
Hazell -www.verko.co.uk- for her most generous offer of christmas trees - I hope you join in and make some new friends here
Great expectations - a lovely company with wonderful fairtraded toys and again help beyond what was expected.
LCC - to Jaysmummy for her crafty goodies and warm hearted support
www.thesweetiestop.co.uk - for their generous support

And of course it goes almost without saying, MNHQ!

**

How it works:

You email me:

[email protected]

as a giver or receiver. If a receiver I will ask for a bit more information to find a good match for you. If a giver I will find someone for you to send your gift to.

All matches to be done by 30 November (did I really promise that)

All gifts to be posted by 15 December (at the latest).

OP posts:

LunarSeasonsGreetings · 03/12/2006 19:49

J in the western highlands - your parcel was last reported in Glasgow, with an estimated delivery day to you of Wednesday.

C in Essex with J & H - parcel should be collected tomorrow, estimated delivery Tuesday to Thursday (will later update if tracking system gives a more definite date).

OneofQVsSantas · 03/12/2006 20:17

V with G & O in Enfield. I have some clothing for O which I am now a bit undecided about.

I thought they were 18mths-2yrs but they are 2-3 yrs. Is it ok to send you stuff he will grow into?

Probably a daft question but I thought I had better check.

OneofQVsSantas · 03/12/2006 20:20

Although why I bothered with the cryptic V, G & O bit when I have announced you in my name change I do not know.

Excuse me whilst I hit my addled brain against a convenient hard surface.

MerryChristmasfromQV · 03/12/2006 21:05

LOL - perfectly fine! Yes! Thank you very much! (He's only 5 months shy of 2yrs any way and rather things too big than too small ).

Thank you!

OneofQVsSantas · 03/12/2006 21:07

hi

i've been away for a few weeks, and logging on today am reminded how much i love mumsnet. this is a trully wonderful idea - really what Xmas should be all about. I appreciate i may be too late, but if there are any gaps and some gifts are needed, i can get into town today and dispatch immediately.

JsSanta · 04/12/2006 11:53

Just wanted to say I have posted a box of things to J in Wilts (DCs toddler S and baby N)

I'm sorry it wasn't more nicely packed but that has never been my strong point! I didn't wrap in xmas paper as I thought you'd want to see what was in it and decide what to do with it.

It should have clothes and some toys and a small M&S voucher (sorry it wasn't for more)

I haven't given my name (MN or real) as I prefer to be anonymous but would be lovely to know if it arrives or not as I can check the consignment if it doesn't. It should be there by Weds of this week.

faeriemum · 04/12/2006 13:00

YAY a message from my givers! im so excited! how lovely and kind of u both! kiss muahhhhhhhhhh!

ChristmasisComing · 04/12/2006 13:44

Message for M in Great Barr with boys H and O - I have just taken your parcel to the Post Office

I have not wrapped as I was unsure what you might want for each of the boys; have included some paper and sellotape.

Enjoy!!

corrina28 · 04/12/2006 13:45

I am so touched by the generosity of absolute strangers, that i now think of as extended family, I feel a total fraud accepting gifts as dh has just got a promotion at work, but there is no way that we would have been able to give our boys any sort of xmas with out the help of out givers.

Every month is just soo tight ( we do not have credit cards or any luxuries not even the occassions take away )and we do have days where only ds's eat dinner as there just isnt enough to go round.

We are hoping that next year is a lot easier and that we will be in a position to send people some of the generosity that we have received this year instead of the bit that we had in the cupboard.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to everyone who has sent anything, not only to us but to anyone that needed it, you do not know how much easier you have made things this year.

Soapbox / Soapythelistmaker you truly are an angel and i cant thank you enough.

pinkranger · 04/12/2006 13:50

paulaplumpbottom · 04/12/2006 15:55

JS from Swindon With 2 boys S and N you packages have just left my house and should be with you tommorow as I sent them next day. You should take delivery of 5 boxes, count them when they arrive.
