Hits and misses for dc presents?

Ds (4) had a ton of stuff. His favourite was a lollipop and a packet of stickers. Someone please remind me of this next year when I'm spending loads of money. The lollipop and stickers cost £3.50 in total, I should have stopped there!

However hits have been: imaginext dinosaurs, light saber, make your own dinosaur magnets, light up globe, doc mcstuffins dr kit and burping burt game.
Misses have been: toothless fire breathing Dragon (doesnt work properly), furreal daisy (as I knew it would be but he'd been begging for it for months), great big armed forces helicopter (too big and requires both hands to lift so then can't shoot).

We still have some stuff to look at and put together tomorrow.
Is it me or do most toys nowadays seem a little, well, shit? Apart from the imaginext most of what ds has had feels rather flimsy and as though it might break quite easily. Or it just doesn't work properly in the first place.

Everything has pretty much been played with by DS (although next year I'll buy him a pile of general lego instead of the Lego City sets as he wasn't that fussed by them) but the hits of the day were Pig goes Pop (which I nearly didn't buy) and a train track he asked for back in the summer but had completely forgotten about.

InTheRedCorner · 25/12/2013 23:41

I forgot to add the crap ones!

Tooth faury game arrived with no gold coins Hmm

Cherry the cat is rubbish and really hit and miss, unfortunately this was a FC present as well.

princesscupcakemummyb · 25/12/2013 23:47

hits for dd aged 4 where scooter that santa bought and a colouring set from her aunty that cost only £5 but she was chuffed never mind the dolls pram and new doll that cost me £100 alone Shock

my daughters enjoyed opening their 7 week old brothers presents most of all

for dd aged 2 the hits where her giant peppa pig plush and george pig plush and other peppa pig toys

miss for her was a minnie mouse trolly with playfood sadly looked like a bit of crap :(

for my ds he is only 7 weeks so couldnt have cared less haha Grin

HazeltheMcWitch · 25/12/2013 23:52

CRappest here was a password journal. Which seemed to lock instantly and now we can't get it open.

So we had tears, and wails of 'why did Santa bring me a broken one, I was good' Xmas Sad

gallicgirl · 25/12/2013 23:54

Oh bless, Hazel. What on earth do you say to that?

Breezy1985 · 26/12/2013 00:02

Hits here, DD laptop (family present) and all her JLS treasures, She gotta bmx too, put it together last night and found the inner tube was all split, so she's not impressed with Santa.

DS was some match attack cards, as soon as he opened them he had to sort them all out and put them in his folder, loved his stunt scooter too.

Bloob · 26/12/2013 00:08

We've had a hugely busy day with loads of people, so in a way I think it's hard to judge.

However, the big hit with ds (18m) was his panda pillow pet! He also loved his dolls house and little people plane!

Dd (4.5) loved a fluffy dressing gown (twitch buy from m&s in the sale 2 days beforehand!) her furby and her pillow pet.

I'm not really sure of misses yet. I thought ds would be more into the train set (v tech toot toot) than he was, and also a wooden tractor and trailer. But I don't think dd really had any misses. She was thrilled with everything. We didn't take the Lego sets out because there were too many people and she wouldn't have been able to concentrate. She still seemed to love it though!

i was so proud actually, every present she said "oh thanks for getting me this mummy! I really love it!"

DisneyAddict88 · 26/12/2013 00:09

hits for dd1 (5) were her moshi monsters figures particularly the gold ones Grin the horse and carriage (elc not barbie like she asked for as she pointed out on the video - shes very matter of fact) but turned out perfect for moshi's and played with it all afternoon! no real misses she seemed to enjoy most of her gifts Grin

dd2 (18 months) was like a tazmanian devil through the presents not even looking at anything then trying to get her sisters (although dd1 was very sweet saying she could help!!) think she got too overwhelmed was grumpy all day - not helped by mass choc eating then not wanting real food so was hungry!! she was happy to get her own little tin of moshi monsters though which she carried around Grin

havent given them main gifts yet though as felt they were happy with what they had (sylvannian lodge for dd1 and box of happyland for dd2)

3bunnies · 26/12/2013 07:29

Think most of the toys were or will be hits. Things they loved the most so far were scooby doo frighthouse, mystery machine and trap set - we had to stop present opening so they could play with them. Also have loved their physics discovery kit ( dd1), tom gates books and diary of wimpy kid dvd (dd2), imaginex submarine (ds). pink/blue/white tack has also been a hit. Post-it notes were passed over but am sure I will find them everywhere in a week or two. They've shown interest in but not yet had a chance to play with their creative blocks, domino rally and Forbidden Island game. Can't decide whether to get ds's moon dough (from aunt) out while still at FIL as revenge for his grinchy comments or quietly regift it - now I know why they were so keen for us not to open it while we were there!

chanie44 · 26/12/2013 07:45

Ds 3.5 loves his toolbox and Spider-man rucksack. He got goldfish as pets, but doesn't seem that interested at the moment.

Dd 15 months loves her Minnie Mouse water bottle.

TheNightIsDark · 26/12/2013 08:22

Definite hit- DS2s jumperoo Grin

thegreylady · 26/12/2013 08:24

Dgs aged 4 loved his double light sabre and hideous Darth Maul mask."I am Darth Small and I am on the dark side" repeated ad nauseam for the giggles it got. His 7year old brother had completed 8 (honestly)8 medium to large lego kits by bed time!

thegreylady · 26/12/2013 08:28

Dgd aged 14 has been glued to iphone since she got it and says her second favourite was the Katy Perry Meow perfume in cat shaped bottle.
Didn't notice any misses.

MrsDavidBowie · 26/12/2013 08:31

Ds's Australian citizenship has made him so happy.
As did the Face/arse sponge. Much hilarity.

Dd 17 loved her Little Mermaid ringbinder.

cuggles · 26/12/2013 08:32

Antijam..my ds (2) has that dinosaur grabber, he absolutely loves it! He also loved his Thomas train track and playmobil recycling truck. Dd (4) loves her vtech camera. No misses yet but early days!

FelineExtraStrongMincePie · 26/12/2013 08:40

Most surprising hit for DD (7) was a Collins dictionary! From my Nanna, who is 90.

Cuddly ferret from Father Christmas ( Patronus)

Wand from us.

I think she will be pleased with wizard robe from DB todaySmile

Misses, well none really. But she said the finger lights hurt her fingers. Thanks MN, that's 84p wasted! GrinGrin

DS1 got an I pod touch.... Glued to it all day... Hmmmm
DS2 loved his remote control car (£20 from Debenhams) on e we got the battery to stay in with a bit of ripped cardboard... despite DH saying it would be a flash in the pan he played with it for the whole day
DD "had a tummy ache because she loved everything so much and Santa brought her everything she asked for" except for a DS as he doesn't bring personal devices for under 9s!. She spent all day in her onesie, wearing her monkey hat and carrying her Beast cuddly toy. We had fun building the Sylvannian family house boat and still have Lego to make today. This Christmas has been the best for getting it right!

Happypiglet · 26/12/2013 08:45

Oh and the Pillow Pet a bought in a twitch moment for a fiver off e bay. Soooooo excited by that!

YellowDahlias · 26/12/2013 08:46

Hits were Furreal Friends Daisy and Plus Plus shapes.

So far there are no obvious misses, though she seemed overwhelmed by some of the books she got.

newtonupontheheath · 26/12/2013 08:49

Hits here have also been the playmobil recying truck, plus fireman Sam set with engine, helicopter and ambulance (even though it's crap quality and broken, I can't take it back because ds will cry) all bought for ds (3) but dd (1) has had a play too.

DD's Noah's Ark and play doh have been hits too Grin

Despite being home all day, they haven't been interested in the DVDs which is a good thing I guess, but sort of wish we hadn't bothered!! We decided to start off the Disney classics so have jungle book and Pinocchio- still unopened!

HerlockSholmes · 26/12/2013 08:50

Everything was a hit here- so happy because he can be a funny little thing at times!

He had playmobil, hot wheels, and a tablet but the two things he's been really excited about were drinking straw glasses and a tube of pringles i wrapped up. so i could've got away with £2 this year!

DS 10 loved everything, though hairy moment when his xbox didn't work. Cue tears and hearts lurching before DH realised he hadn't plugged it in.
Other hits were Dr Who books and a much wanted copy of the dvd Michael Collins.Hmm

enormouse · 26/12/2013 09:04

Next year I'll spend less I think. The stocking filler things were the biggest hits with DS(2).
The hits of this year were
A new gruffalo mug from DMil
Some schleich lions (roughly £10 from Amazon)
A wind up marching soldier (£1 from dotcomgiftshop)
A new toothbrush I got free with a boots coupon
And a little Cath kidston cowboy rucksack to carry it all round in (second hand from ebay). He is now wearing it over his pyjamas.

Misses
The bloody expensive v tech toot toot garage and more cars for it from DPil. DMil tried to persuade him to play with it but he was just not interested.

He does like the Lego and lkea trainset but prefers his little toys more.
