Ds (4) had a ton of stuff. His favourite was a lollipop and a packet of stickers. Someone please remind me of this next year when I'm spending loads of money. The lollipop and stickers cost £3.50 in total, I should have stopped there!

However hits have been: imaginext dinosaurs, light saber, make your own dinosaur magnets, light up globe, doc mcstuffins dr kit and burping burt game.
Misses have been: toothless fire breathing Dragon (doesnt work properly), furreal daisy (as I knew it would be but he'd been begging for it for months), great big armed forces helicopter (too big and requires both hands to lift so then can't shoot).

We still have some stuff to look at and put together tomorrow.
Is it me or do most toys nowadays seem a little, well, shit? Apart from the imaginext most of what ds has had feels rather flimsy and as though it might break quite easily. Or it just doesn't work properly in the first place.

Biggest hits here were Heelys for DD(7) ,a Sticker Dolly ice skating book, and her finger lights (41p x 2 packets ).Miranda DVD for DS (10),and his finger lights. And his Minecraft annual.

They are relishing a day at home today to play with everything. Xmas Smile

MrsSnail · 26/12/2013 09:06

Stocking filler bag of marbles were a big hit :) Toy kitchen also a big success, Peppa pig playground was ok but not interested in the school playset. Off to Grandmas today for part two :)

DziezkoDisco · 26/12/2013 09:10

Biggest hit for 3 year old - her new City top (a castoff from a friend)
For 6 year old - farting putty in a toilet (£1)
For 8 year old - a pack of top trumps
For 17 year old - air drumsticks (£2)

Seriously could have got them that a pack of cards, a c olouring set and the second hand lego game and theywould have played all day!

WeAllHaveWings · 26/12/2013 09:17

ds(9) got an xbox 360 which he loves, but because we went to my mums for Xmas didn't get to play it for most of the day.

He spent over an hour doing a picture in an Extreme Dot to Dot book (£4) which had over 1400 dots.

LucyLasticKnickers · 26/12/2013 09:28

dd's onesie, which i wasnt sure whether to buy, is too small, and ds christmas jumper also on the small side. Sad

Retropear · 26/12/2013 09:40

We never have misses.I only used to let them have 1 toy I knew would be crap and then they've always had less but better quality/ well researched. Now they're 9 and 10 they choose well.

Disney Infinity for the Xbox- fab.

Ditto Lego Hobbit Hole.

Dd loved her Harry Potter pop up book, snitch necklace and black feather quill pen.

Dtwin1 loved his wooden Nerf gun target thing.

We're doing dd's SF supermarket today,quite excited!< saddo>

The finger lights were a big success!

RuByMaMa · 26/12/2013 09:42

Anti bacterial hand gel. Seriously. Bought on impulse at the supermarket checkout as I remembered how much dd1 loved mine when dd2 was born in the summer. I had to confiscate it yesterday as I felt she was becoming borderline OCD with it's application Grin

Not too fussed with the la la loopsy doll which thankfully I only paid half price for

Retropear · 26/12/2013 09:44

Beano annual and Minecraft books, big successes too.

Retropear · 26/12/2013 09:46

I loved our Home Bargains paper red, white and green paper straws.Wish I'd bought loads.Bargain at £1 but we've nearly used them all.

oldbaghere · 26/12/2013 09:49

A mix to make dog biscuits. Strange child.

snowmanshoes · 26/12/2013 10:07

DD2 her plastic bike ride on from Gps and her 'under the sea ariel mermaid' doll (something off the tele that actual works!!) Doc mcstuffins dr kit not really bothered by the dress up outfit though. She loved her tiny Sofia the First figures too so pleased I got those.

DD1 - her interactive globe (which I nearly never bought!) her Kindle from gps and the Crayola hot heels craft set as they are really easy to do and she can do them by herself.

They also both loved the Its a Small World dolls from the disney store although they have pressed their tummy so often DD2 nearly knows how to sing it in Japanese!! Oh and they liked the Fijit Yippit things (£10.49 from the entertainer) Massive hits and they were a twitch buy too.

Not really had a miss but the Rock Tumbler DD1 had looks a bit of a PITA to actually do - the whole process takes between 2-4 weeks!

soupmaker · 26/12/2013 10:15

DD1, 5, loves her onesie and new scooter. She played with everything she opened - hurrah. She is out and about now on her scooter wearing her new leotard and leggings for gymnastics! DD2, is only 5 months, and got a teether. She chewed it all day! No misses, although DD1's new hat, scarf, mitts combo are way too wee. She doesn't care, it's on!

winkywinkola · 26/12/2013 10:17

Pass the Pigs game has been a hit with 3 eldest aged from 8-4.

Tennis rackets also popular.

And a little trolley cart that they can pull each other around in the garden. They're currently hauling ds3 around the sitting room and kitchen in it.

Foil art by Galt kept them busy yesterday afternoon.

Origami sets also popular.

IShallCallYouSquishy · 26/12/2013 10:22

DD only 19 months and most things were a hit. Favourites have been 2 50p packs of stickers and a magnet board and tub of alphabet magnets. Oh and anything with peppa pig on it!

fruitpastille · 26/12/2013 10:25

Hot wires electrical circuit kit. Ds6 played with it for hours.

Big box of art and craft stuff. Dd4 made stuff for hours.

Suprise hit, enormous, revoltingly strawberry scented Lotso toy story cuddly bear has gone everywhere with dd and had to sleep with her... not given by us!

Miss. Cheap argos cd player. If you connect an mp3 you hear the radio at the same time!

fishybits · 26/12/2013 10:27

200 Peppa Pig stickers. The sitting room and dogs got covered in them.

OodKingWenceslas · 26/12/2013 10:33

Dd1 & 2 spent ages playing with hair chalks (thanks bargain thread!)
Dd2s biggest hit after that was a box of chocolate from my auntie.
Dd3 loved her car and ds loved to eat a wig in dd3s dressing up kit.

BurnThisDiscoDown · 26/12/2013 12:04

The vtech toot toot train station was a hit for DS (aged 2) but a miss for me - it looks amazing but the train doesn't actually run very well on the tracks. DS doesn't mind, just gives it a little push when it gets stuck, but it annoys me!

Guitargirl · 26/12/2013 13:05

Hits have been marble run, furreal rabbits, rabbit thing which plugs into the computer and dances to music, ipads (GP purchase) and the playarea/'den' that Father Christmas made out of what was the cupboard under the stairs I think they will be sleeping in it tonight!

DD has also been very busy with all her lovely stationery (which I have been secretly coveting)

Some things still in their boxes: Barbie and Sonic and Knuckles cars

Davros · 26/12/2013 14:26

I thought that said funeral rabbits Grin!
DD (10) really lives her Cambridge satchel with Lindsay tartan panel (my maiden name and her middle name) and the record player I got her through Radio Times and (very random) records from the local charity shops.

omama · 26/12/2013 14:48

Not really any misses here either! Favourites yesterday with ds (3.5) were lego, playmobil, vtech switch & go dino & imaginext dragon. Today he's discovered his talking buzz light year & he's going everywhere with him. Buzzis tucked up on the sofa with us ready to start watching planes Smile Had a fantastic day!

Lavenderhoney · 26/12/2013 15:10

Ds was thrilled with his Lego and remote controlled car which he happily shares with dd - but the biggest hit was the soft boomerang which comes back:) hours of fun, we all want one now:)

Dd was happy with her craft stuff which she loves and face paints- dc spent all day painting each other then playing musketeers with soft bendy massive swords:)

Dh and I both liked our gifts, Jo Malone cologne each:)

NowBringUsSomeFuzzpiggyPudding · 26/12/2013 15:17

All hits really - not everything got a WOW! type reaction but I didn't expect it to TBH - things like books and basic craft supplies barely get a look in on the day compared to toys but they'll still get used without a doubt.

Most of their gifts are chosen by us (including those from my parents/grandma, as they prefer to give money for us to choose something) and I am really pleased that we chose well. 6yo DD's favourite is the playmobil swimming pool and 4yo DS' favourite is the fire engine trunki.

Out of things they were given from others, DD is particularly excited about a load of craft kits from SIL, and DS is happily playing with some vehicles given by HomeStart who were supporting us over the last year (how nice is that? Totally didn't expect presents from them! I even got a pair of slipper socks and lovely chocolates from them Xmas Smile)

NowBringUsSomeFuzzpiggyPudding · 26/12/2013 15:18

Oh and toys-wise, DH also particularly loved his lego hobbit board game! Xmas Grin

hootloop · 26/12/2013 15:25

Biggest hits here were skylanders swapforce for DS and a swing/slide set for DDs sylvanian families.
No real misses other than battery charger .that MIL gets DS every year. So we now have 7 in total.
