My favourite is Santa Claus the movie. We watched it in the cinema when I was a little girl, it was my first cinema trip and we ate ice cream in little tubs.

Every year I watch it and enjoy it just as much as I did that first time.

Elf is a close second, then Christmas with the Kranks.

What's your favourite xmas film and why?

Annabelle's Wish. That lovely little cow who dreams of been a reindeer and she gets the chance!

Oh, I've not heard of that one!

Its great. You find yourself crying and cheering her on

It's a Wonderful Life is absolutely the best Christmas film ever.

It has everything - despair, redemption, joy, very funny.

I've a feeling "its a wonderful life" will feature very highly. I watched it for the first time last year, and cried my eyes out

It's a wonderful life, definitely. Such an uplifting film, think it's my favourite film of all,not just favourite Xmas film.

Polar express.

Miracle on 34th Street. Came watch it over and over and never tire of it.

DS loves the Polar Express, we have a jingle bell on our tree because of that film!

Muppet Christmas Carol, hands down

I do like the muppets.

Another one for Muppets Christmas Carol. I'm a big fan of Its a Wonderful Life but for me my go-to Christmas film will always be the Muppets. Michael Caine's finest hour also. You can keep Alfie and The Italian Job and Get Carter- they're all left in the shade once you've seen him bah humbugging around Victorian London with Gonzo.

Miracle on 34th street or Father Christmas (which nobody has ever seen but it's the same guy who did the Snowman and its ace)

The newer one with Richard Attenborough in. We watched it twice yesterday, in succession , and will no doubt be watching it again today and most days for the next month

I'm also rather partial to the first Home Alone as well. It's on C4 later and I we will be watching it fosho.

Muppets Christmas carol, without a doubt.

I actively dislike It's a wonderful life. It sets my teeth on edge!!

I've seen Father Christmas, and it is lovely, better than the snowman imo.

Home alone is ace, dh's favourite is die hard.

Richard attenborough is the perfect Kris Kringle.

Home Alone - the original and the best. I love the combination of slapstick violence and the outwitting the burglars with the moment where he's in the church and sees the old man. And the ending of course.

And of course, Die Hard

I like most takes in A Christmas Carol - muppets is brilliant and I also like Scrooged.

MrsDV, that's it exactly. Santa Claus TM is an awful movie, but its so comfortable, that's why, for me, it beats out elf and other great films.

I adore it's a wonderful life. It just wouldn't be Christmas without it
